NEW YORK STARS LAUNCHES THIS SEASON WITH A BANG!
BY MACK FINNEGAN
The Stars have won their first 3 games of the regular season to take the lead in the Eastern Conference.
On opening night in Montréal, marking Liam Donnghal’s return to the stadium that he called home for over a decade, the Stars beat the Mounties 4-2. Donnghal led the offense with 2 goals, while Lewis and Kerrigan completed the score for NY.
The following day, they visited Ottawa and shut them out 3 to nothing. The Otters’ fans witnessed the birth of what has all the markings of being the new power duo in the NHL when Lewis and Donnghal’s line scored all 3 of the New York goals.
Two days later, it was Washington’s turn to feel the heat. Lewis and Donnghal again with a goal each, Danny Fisher being the only one to score for DC. Greco was barely under threat, his defense keeping the Diplomats out of their zone.
Where the Liberties failed, the Stars appear to have found the right combination early on. But the hockey season is a long one. Let’s see if they can keep this streak going!
