Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert)

Chapter 137

Eloise pondered for a moment before cautiously speaking up, "Given the situation, I'd like each of the three new interns to come up with a design draft. We'll present them together to Bailey." "Sure thing," Sylvia and Christine chimed in unison.

Only Bridget confidently responded, "Ms. Eloise, there's no need for you to worry about us. I'll just schedule a meet with Bailey and take Sylvia and Christine along." Swamped with work, Eloise nodded in agreement.

With that, the meeting adjourned. Many envied Bridget as they gathered around her.

"Bridget, you're truly Rupert's ace, knowing everyone around."

"Not really," Bridget demurred, her gaze flitting to Sylvia with a hint of amusement.

Sylvia ignored her, grabbing her things and walking out with Christine.

"Imagine if you had such a strong network, Sylvia. You'd probably outshine her in design," Christine muttered.

"Let's drop it, Christine," Sylvia cut in, always finding Christine's remarks a bit off.

Back at her desk, Sylvia was brainstorming design ideas when a stack of documents landed on her table.

"Sylvia, could you make copies of these and distribute them?" someone requested.

"Sure."

Sylvia's train of thought was interrupted, and she stood up reluctantly.

Christine, too, had a bunch of documents in hand.

They exchanged looks and headed for the copier.

As Sylvia turned around, a male colleague blocked her path.

"Sylvia, hand me your documents. I'm heading to the copier too," he offered.

Sylvia glanced at his documents and offered a polite smile. "No worries, everyone's swamped today. I wouldn't want to hold you up."

"It's no trouble at all."

As the colleague reached for Sylvia's documents, she sidestepped him. She thanked him and hurried after Christine to the copier, leaving the colleague behind.

Christine glanced around and whispered, "He's into you, isn't he? Trying to help on purpose. I heard Ms. Eloise thinks highly of him, but just now he was cozying up to Ms. Simpson, and now you..."

Sylvia aligned her documents and

pressed the copy button. Over the

hum of the machine, she interrupted, "Christine, let's not jump to conclusions. Even if that's the case,

it's better keep it to yo

Christine, clutching her files, bit her lip. "Sorry."

"It's okay. Let's focus on work."

Sylvia picked up her documents and walked out.

Christine stood still, staring at the working machine, lost in thought.

...

At the end of a long day, Sylvia massaged her throbbing head, still feeling the remnants of a slight headache.

She got up to leave for her university dorm.

Stepping out of the studio, she noticed Freya waiting for her, flanked by several male colleagues. Their expressions varied as Sylvia approached.

"Sylvia, over here," Freya beckoned

her over, boasting, "Our Sylvia is quite the catch at college. Seniors and juniors alike are always asking her out."

That was true. But Sylvia always politely declined.

However, Freya only mentioned the first part, making Sylvia sound rather frivolous.

The male colleagues exchanged looks, one of them opening his car door. "Sylvia, hop in. I'll treat you to dinner and give you a ride back."

"No, thanks. I've got other plans," Sylvia replied, making up an excuse as she tried to leave.

But Freya grabbed her arm, nudging her toward the male colleague's car.

"Sylvia, we're all colleagues here. Don't be like that. It's just like old times, right? If someone offered me a ride, I'd be thrilled."

Sylvia found herself cornered by Freya and the male colleagues, seemingly unable to leave unless she got in the car.

Inwardly, she scoffed. Freya was up to her old tricks again. It seemed the previous lessons weren't enough.

"Alright. I'll get in," Sylvia agreed, bending to enter the vehicle.

At that moment, a luxury car pulled up.

The man inside watched emotionlessly as Sylvia got into another man's car.

Beside him, Bridget insinuated, "Sylvia's really something, isn't she? Barely two days at the studio and she's already mingling with all the male colleagues, even going out together."
