Emma: The Forgotten Luna

Chapter 50

Emmaline

Pushing my hair that was sprawled all over my face, I entangled them while running my fingers through them. My eyes were glued on my lips which were etched into a triumphant smirk. And why not?

Finally, things executed the way I had wished.

“Stupid. He himself came crawling to me.”

Scoffing, I collected a tear that escaped from my left eye on my index finger and glared at it, “You will save me? Pfft! You couldn’t even save yourself and plunged into my trap. Damn, I do have you wrapped around my fingers.” Saying that I flicked it and placed my palms on the table.

“I did fantastic acting by the way. Unnecessarily, I was getting scared that I would get caught. That fool got swayed just by my tears. He’ll definitely create havoc if he finds a single scratch on my skin. After today’s incident, I am completely sure of it.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. Tipping my head, I continued staring at myself while my mind drifted to the day, I captured that snake in the grass.

Flashback

“What kind of gown had Matt chosen for me?”

I specifically mentioned to that idiot not to select a revealing dress but does he ever pay heed to my words?

Scowling at the pieces of cloth that were lackadaisically glued together, I tossed them on the ground and grabbed my cell from the bed.

Why the hell did I accept his proposal? Just to get rid of that asshole, I consented for being his date for tonight but do I really have to dress this promiscuously? No way.

“Forget it. I will buy the dress myself. Spending a few bucks is better than trading my dignity.”

I know it wasn’t a big deal cause as Matt said that girls do wear such sexy clothes and it wasn’t a big deal but the thing is I am not comfortable. And I can never compromise my priorities.

Getting my black card, I immediately made for the city mall.

“Yup, this looks good on me.”

I spoke while eyeing myself in the mirror. The female staff smiled when I spin, twirling my gown, and continued admiring myself in the mirror.

“Yes, Ma’am. You should go with it. The red color suits you perfectly and fits your hourglass figure.”

Her compliment left me flustered. Biting my lips, I took a furtive glance in the mirror.

‘Do I really possess an hourglass figure?’

My eyes shone as indeed the gown was appealing and decent, just like my taste. I pulled out my scrunchie and let my silver hair fall freely.

The staff who was helping me out gasped at my actions making me startled.

“What happened?”

‘Did I scare her or what?’

“You are gorgeous.” She spoke while watching me in awe.

I gave her an awkward smile, “Thanks” I wasn’t used to such compliments.

“Wait”, she quickly spoke from behind and ran to me, “I think you should try out sandals too. I will get some samples for you so that you can check.”

I nodded as I indeed needed one. I don’t usually wear heels but I can’t go to a party while wearing my sneakers.

“But it’s not that bad. I will only create a new trend.”

I chucked at my silly thought but my laughter ceased when something caught my eyes that left me stunned.

“Veronica? What is she doing here with him?”

I rubbed my eyes as I couldn’t digest the scene that I just witnessed.

Veronica had her arms wrapped around Matteo’s neck. She was leaning over his face with her red lips forming into a sick pout. But the thing that left me staggered was his silence. With hands dipped in the pocket of his denim jeans, Matt was looking at her with a displeased expression but the thing which irked me was why wasn’t he pushing her away.

“Doesn’t he hate her?”

Unable to suppress my curiosity, I quickly forwarded my legs in their direction.

They were a bit too intimate which was definitely gathering some shy smiles thinking that they were a lovely couple.

I couldn’t help but feel jealous.

‘Why the hell Matt was letting that witch touch him? He is my friend, didn’t he just defend me when she was humiliating me?’

I know I shouldn’t be possessive but in the case of Matt, I always chose my feelings over my principles. For the first time in my life, I got a true friend, not that snake Stella who didn’t even once come to check up on me even when I told her everything about Damien.

Matt introduced me to true friendship, and what it feels like to have someone by your side. And now, I just can’t afford to lose him. He has become too precious to me.

Bitterness rumbled in my heart. I wouldn’t let her snatch him from me.

“That bitch” Sneering in a low tone, I prowled toward them and was ready to attack her but halted after hearing their conversation.

“For how long will we have to pretend? Do you know how much it pains me to see you defending her? It stabs my heart, Matt”

Veronica cried while staring at Matteo with eyes that held so much pain.

‘Pretence? What is she talking about?’

Matteo threw her a glare. Coiling his fingers around her left wrist, he dragged her to a corner. I followed them.

His raged expression didn’t belie his fear, it was as if she let the cat out of the bag.

I felt my chest constricted. An unknown fear groped me.

‘Was he hiding something from me?’

Veronica moaned in pain when Matt roughly pushed her onto a pillar and slammed his palm over her head. She cowered as he towered over her frame and gripped her chin tightly between his fingers.

“Didn’t I tell you not to meet me here? Our game will be over the moment Em or her lover catches us? Didn’t I fucking mention that to you, stupid?”

My heart dropped. Tears gushed to my eyes ’cause it was clear that he betrayed me too.
