Emma: The Forgotten Luna

Chapter 29

The moment Stephanie completed; a hard fist collided with her jaw making her see stars. Drops of blood splattered on the concrete like raindrops. Stephanie was still in shock as she hadn’t anticipated it but soon a shrill cry escaped her mouth when she felt an excruciating pain that almost tore her muscles.

Emmaline broke her jaw.

Sobs racked her body as she grabbed her dislocated jaw with trembling fingers and staggered to the ground.

Ella was dumbfounded by the sudden attack but soon rushed to Stephanie’s aid when her eyes fell on her blood-coated chin, “STEPH? FUCKING IDIOT, HOW DARE YOU HURT HER?” She hollered Emmaline and wrapped her arms around her sobbing friend.

Comforting Stephanie who was crying silently, she then looked at Emmaline who was already staring at them with predatory eyes, “Shameless bitch, it’s my fault that I got duped by your innocent facade and showed mercy on you thinking that you’re a child. What’s up with this Virgin Mary act? Didn’t you confess? Aren’t you whoring around the city to build a living for yourself? I can’t believe I had stashed your unholy money in my chest. Forgive me, Lord.” She continued disparaging her but Emmaline didn’t say a word.

That’s when an idea popped into her mind. Ella mentally smirked at her silence. Leaping on the opportunity she started shouting, pulling up a scene.

“SICK WENCH, YOUR MOTHER WOULD BE ASHAMED TO GIVE BIRTH TO SUCH A STIGMA!! THAT’S WHY YOUR PARENTS NEVER CALLED YOU BECAUSE THEY HAD DISOWNED YOU. THEY MUST HAVE BEEN ASHAMED OF YOUR DIRTY DEEDS. WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU DO IN MY FLAT IN MY ABSENCE? DO YOU BRING MEN THERE-” Ella sneered but her eyes almost fell out of her sockets when Emmaline suddenly pounced on her and grabbed her silk blouse. Tightening her fingers, she tore her away from the whimpering Stephanie and pulled her to her face level.

“You’re a whore, not me. Just because you have money that doesn’t mean you can spew shit. You brought your friend to kick a teen in the middle of the streets at this hour and are even twitting her by molding her words. Does your behavior suit your noble personality? Aren’t you doing wrong, Miss Ella?” She growled while eyeing her dangerously. Ella turned pale. The rage dripping from her eyes and the warning held in her voice made her run for the hills.

Ella was horrified by Stephanie’s condition but she continued acting tough thinking that Emmaline did that only in a fit of anger. And she definitely would be repenting it but the murderous expression on her face vanished all her bravery.

Ella was ready to drop her weapons when something caught her eye. Emmaline frowned when she noticed the glint in her eyes. No doubt she was incensed but still, she was able to make out the subtle smirk on her face.

Emmaline knew that Ella was up to something as she was looking over her shoulder keenly so she quickly released her blouse. But Ella deliberately went flying on the ground, scratching her knees in the process. Her actions even caught Emmaline off guard. Her hands of their volition tried to catch her but Ella hovered over Stephanie and started crying in fear.

“N-No stop, you can live here. Don’t hurt us anymore.”

Emmaline froze, her arms stilled in the air bewildered by her response. But soon her senses clicked in when she heard multiple footsteps rushing in her direction.

“WHAT’S GOING ON?”

“HOLD HER, SHE’S HURTING THEM!!”

Enraged voices reverberated through the empty streets. Emmaline panicked but before she could steady herself, muscular arms grabbed her pulling her away from the two battered women sitting on the ground.

Emmaline looked behind only to find angry eyes pinned on her. She was being caged by a crowd who misunderstood her actions.

“No, they were trying to-” She quickly spoke in her defense but was cut off by Ella who started wailing out loud. Her tears were real as she was scared shitless but her motive was to manipulate the crowd. It was because she was well aware that Stephanie had goaded Emmaline which would only portray them as the bad guys who were harassing a teen.

“She didn’t pay the rent so out of anger; I kicked her out. We had a misunderstanding but we agreed to give her a day to pay back but she turned violent all of a sudden.” She croaked out and pointed to Stephanie who was still on the ground, holding her bloodied jaw. Her horrific sight left people stunned.

Emmaline immediately shook her head in denial when she heard them gasp.

“They were denigrating me, and even questioning my character. They provoked me to hurt them.” She asserted.

Ella was startled when one of the men looked at her with dubious eyes. She gulped nervously but was backed by a woman who started to scream at Emmaline. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“So, you’ll throw hands at them? You’ve should have reported them to the police. If they wouldn’t stop you would have killed them too.” Her words silenced Emmaline who dropped her gaze to the floor. Ella breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at Stephanie who winked at her.

The woman was right though. Emmaline closed her eyes and curled her fingers into a fist. Anger had always been her biggest enemy. She was already in trouble due to David still her bloodthirst hadn’t quenched and found another prey.

She smacked her forehead mentally but kept her expression neutral.

Ella hurriedly stood up on her wobbling knees and jumped to intervene, “She is lying, we never said anything to her. You can even ask the guards. They had witnessed everything.”

She said and pointed at the guards making them jolt in fright. The guards looked at the crowd and then at Ella who narrowed her eyes at them.

One of the guards looked at Emmaline and then at the crowd who was waiting for their answers after all they were the only witness. He gulped and without thinking twice, bobbed his head in affirmation.

“Y-Yes she is the one!”

Emmaline teared up when she heard him lying. He saw everything yet he was siding with Ella only because she was powerful. She knew she was doomed as whatever she said, she would only be looked down upon. She only would be considered at fault as there was nothing with which she could help her prove her innocence. So, she simply lowered her head and closed her eyes accepting defeat.

The other guard also nodded in agreement. His confidence was boosted by his companion’s white lie.

“Madam tried to negotiate but she turned hostile and attacked both of them. We tried to interfere but she even tried to attack us-AHHH!!!!”

An ear piercing echoed in the empty streets when a powerful blow struck his head from behind making him land straight on his face. The crowd gasped in horror as a dark shadow covered the man’s body who was lying on the ground helplessly. Letting out grunts, he also looked back but his eyes rounded to the size of saucers when his eyes met with the soulless ones.

“Your responsibility is to protect the people, not to make riches by wagering their lives.”

A deep voice that erupted straight from the depths of Hades left people stupefied. But their fear soon got replaced with shock as soon as the man stepped out from his cloak and stood in front of them.

“Damien Knight.”

Emmaline who had her eyes fixated on the stones scattered on the tarmac path immediately looked up at the mention of his name. Her lips parted watching the man who again came as her savior glowering at the crowd. Damien then shifted his eyes and looked at Emmaline. The crowd itself made way for the Alpha as he started walking in her direction, his eyes focused only on her face.

Damien approached her. His dark gaze then fell on the hands who dare to hold his Emma. Glaring at their fingers, he shot his eyes at the culprits who quickly retreated their hands and moved back. The menacing look in his eyes was clear that he would have broken their hands if they had stayed there any longer.

He then looked back at Emmaline who was still staring at him in disbelief. But his focus was on the drop of tear that cautiously rolled down her cheek. Raising her hand, he wiped it with the pad of his thumb before cupping her left cheek in his palm.

“Don’t cry, Princess. I am here.”

Emmaline gasped in pain as he uttered the same words to her.

Once again, he became her savior.
