Emerald Luna

Chapter 15

Violet

The trip to my parent’s pack didn’t take too long, about 20 minutes (honestly, we could’ve just gone in our wolf form faster, but we needed the truck for our shopping later). Once things got familiar, flashes of memories of growing up here came to mind, and it made me smile. Soon we saw some guards doing their border patrol, and I scooted to the window to let them know our business.

“Hi, I’m here to visit my parents. My name is Violet McCoy. I used to be a part of this pack until recently…”

“The alpha’s daughter?!” the guard asked in shock and I could feel all the eyes in the car on me.

“Yes… that’s me…” I answer him shyly. I don’t like to brag that I’m an alpha daughter, especially with everything that’s happened with Warg. I certainly don’t feel like the strength and grace that an alpha should have…

“Welcome home. I’ll let your family know that you’ve returned.” He mind links my dad and they allow us to pass. I give them directions to the packhouse and I can see my parents and my older brother and sister smiling at me. My older brother, Donovan, was about to take over as alpha from dad soon and I’m so glad I could make it home in time to see the ceremony. Whenever I’d mention it to Warg, he’d slap me for even mentioning my family. So, unfortunately, I never did, and that stung.

“Welcome home, sweetie!” My mom, Rowena, hugs me and how I have missed her hugs.

“I’ve missed all of you. I tried to get away but I’d just get hurt more by him. He wouldn’t reject me, but yet he didn’t care for me.” I cried as I continued to hug my mom. I felt my sister Lyndra rub my back in comfort. We actually used to be close before all of this happened.

“Why does he have to do this to me? Why doesn’t he just reject me already?” She rhetorically asks us and her family… her sobbing gets harder.

“I’m not sure, but he’s missing out on an exceptional woman.” Koa rubs my back again and I’m glad it calms me as it did back at Emerald Warrior. I feel so relaxed and I can let my guard down around him. He makes me happier than I was with Warg, but that’s easy to do a rock could’ve done that.

“Well, let’s go inside and have a big feast to welcome you home and Donovan’s alpha ceremony.” My dad, Lynox leads us inside and I almost forgot how special my home was. It was like Emerald Warrior in its rustic chic style, cabin-like house, but it was a four-story house. The bottom two floors were for anyone to come and go. Kitchen, dining room, living room, on the first floor, and the second was a movie theater, library, and another lounge area. The other two were offices and bedrooms of the higher-ups.

Dad leads us to the dining room, where everyone was called for dinner. Friends I haven’t seen in so long were happy to see me again. The smiles on my family’s face made everything I went through worth it.

“Thank you for coming so quickly for dinner. I’m happy to announce that my daughter, Violet has finally come home to us. Thanks to some new friends.” He smiles at me and I smile back. “Also, now that our family is whole again, we can now do Donovan’s alpha ceremony. I’m sure he will lead and guide you as I have.” He puts his hand on Donovan’s shoulder and I can see the pride and happiness in his eyes. “Now let’s eat! Go on and enjoy the food!” The normal buffet-style dinner was normal for us and less work for the kitchen staff.

With family near the head of the table and Esme and Koa next to me, I felt like I was safe and happy. I think it was then at dinner that I decided I should be the one to reject Warg as my mate after I savor and enjoy my dinner. They made all of my favorites. The best chicken and dumplings and sweet tea that had to been made by mom… and to top it all off, apple fritters with vanilla ice cream! Yes! It was like they knew I was coming home.

Once dinner was done, everyone dispersed to get ready for the ceremony that was happening later. Lyndra let me borrow one of her dresses that was small on her. It was a cute midnight blue just past the knees, cap sleeve, with a sweetheart top, with sparkles that looked like stars. With, some light natural makeup and midnight blue 3 inch heels I had in my closet. I was all set to go. I found Esme and Koa and I lead them to the ceremony. I left them in the front row while I sat on stage with my family.

Before the ceremony started, I walked my way towards the mic and I got confused looks from my family.

“Hi everybody… I know it’s been a weird couple of months why I’ve been missing. I went to Knoxville to explore the city before settling into life here. There I met my mate… Warg Vossen, and his sister, Selena. While she was the nice one, he wasn’t… and while I’ll spare you the gory details, he clarified he didn’t want me to contact my family and anyone from here. My phone was gone and broken into pieces. My wolf couldn’t contact anyone since we were too far away, more or less kidnapped by someone who was supposed to love and protect me. So, he made me do something to someone I now call a friend. He wanted me to be friends with someone who he wanted to be with and kidnap her just so I could gain his affection… I now realize he’s an awful man and now I’m doing this. I, Violet McCoy, reject you, Warg Vossen as my mate and now can no longer communicate with you no more.” As soon as I finished, I could feel my connection with him break and it hurt like crap, but since I’m the one breaking it off, it didn’t hurt as much as it probably will to him. Now, I feel free from him! I can see the shocked look on Esme’s face, and I gave her an apologetic look. “Well, now that the sad stuff is out of the way let’s lighten the mood a little and let my brother become alpha.” I tried to smile for everybody as I made my way to my seat, but as soon as I locked eyes on Koa, I knew what would happen afterward.

My dad gave me a confused look as he made his way to the mic.

“Well, I’ll agree to lighten up the mood. I’ll talk to you later…” He muffled at me as he blocked the mic with his hand. “Donovan, will you come here?” He gets up and stands in front of my dad with a smile. He turns to me and smiles like he’s proud of what I did.

“Do you, Donovan Shane McCoy, take up the position of alpha? To lead, guide, protect Grotto Growlers to the best of your abilities.”

“I will.” The transfer of power seemed simple but draining on dad Donovan got more powerful. It was just a simple and small cut to the palm and it would transfer through blood. Now that dad wasn’t alpha anymore, I can see him relax some.

“I’m sure you will make us proud.” Dad looks at him with pride.

“Thanks, dad. I was the one who held off the ceremony. I wanted to wait until our family was whole again to do this. My first thing as alpha is to welcome home my sister and let us celebrate this night.” Everyone applauds and cheers for us and enjoys the party. I go to find Esme and Koa to explain myself.

“I’m sorry guys, I know I should’ve-” Esme cuts me off before I could explain.

“I knew it was Warg… I overheard you talking to him before we left.” She knew!? I guess I should’ve just told her, but I didn’t want to scare her. “I’m glad you rejected him. He doesn’t deserve you, but I think I know someone who does.” She pushes Koa in front of me and I smile at her. He stares at my outfit and I just plant a long kiss on him. Making it loud and clear how I felt about him. His acceptance of the kiss and wrapping his arms around me just clarified his feelings for me. We broke the kiss to come up for air, and I just stare at him lovingly.

“I had you were my second chance and I’m glad it was right.”

“Me too. It made me so angry that Warg would treat you like trash. I want to show you how a mate deserves to be treated.” He kisses me again, and I can feel the stares of my family behind us. I knew this was coming, so I break apart the kiss and make my way to my family.

“You ok, sweetie?” Mom asks with concern in her voice.

“At first the rejection hurt but it wasn’t so bad. Now I got a second chance, this is Koa Dolf, the beta of Emerald Warrior.” My dad shakes his hand, along with Donovan.

“You better treat her right, otherwise it will not end well for you.” Donovan threatens, but I don’t think he will make due on that threat.

“I won’t hurt her as he did.” He looks at both of my guys in the eyes and I can’t help but smile. We enjoy the party and some pack members welcome me back. I was too distracted by Koa to really thank them. I was ready to back to his room and have some alone time with him.

“I’m getting worn out. Think I’ll head up to my old room for the night.” I walk towards the packhouse when I’m grabbed by Koa.

“Oh, no you don’t, now that I found you, you’re not going anywhere but with me.” He gives me a loving smile. I knew full well that I wasn’t going to spend the night in my room.

“If I must…” I tease him as I make my way to the house. I let him chase me a little until he scoops me up in his arms. I laugh as he catches me as the sparks of the bond explode all over us. This is what a loving mate is like… then I’m not letting him go.
