Chapter 27 Nobody Goes With Her
After getting the task document, Allison firstly contacted the vendors that had a partnership with the company before and made an appointment to meet with them. Next, she prepared to move her things to the office.
When she was packing up her things, all her colleagues cast speculative glances at her and some of them even had no qualms to gather and discuss something.
"Anyone knows who she is? I heard that the intern she brought in, Renata was apparently fired because Renata offended her, what a pity!"
"Really? No wonder I haven't seen Renata in the past few days."
All sorts of voices of discussions entered Allison's ears. She frowned, quickly packed up her things and walked towards her office while carrying the cardboard box.
She knew that her promotion was really not in line with the system of the company. It was not possible for her to gag others now, the only thing she could do was to do her job seriously.
Thinking of this, Allison was full of motivation. She took the task document and read it again. Then, she planned to go out to meet the vendors to discuss the matters about ordering goods.
It was stated on the document that two department employees could be chosen to go out to execute the task together with her. However, unexpectedly, after she arrived at the office area and made the announcement, no one was willing to go with her.
Seeing no response, Allison took a breath and continued to ask, "Is there anyone who has a leisurely task today, go out with me and we'll come back very soon."
The people in the public office area kept their heads down and were busy with their own work, as if they had not heard her. The atmosphere was immensely awkward.
Seeing that nobody was really responding, Allison took a deep breath. She directly walked to a colleague and said softly, "Olivia, will you go with me?"
Olivia was the most helpful girl in the department and she had a good relationship with Allison before. Now, under such circumstances, Allison could only ask for Olivia's assistance. Olivia slightly hesitated and when she was about to say something, a voice suddenly came from the side, "Olivia, have you done the report I asked you to organize? I need it badly!"
Allison looked at the direction the voice came from and saw that Monica was walking towards them.
When Olivia heard this, she immediately spoke, "Monica, I've not done it yet, I'll continue to do it now."
As she said, she looked at Allison apologetically, "I'm sorry, Alice, I haven't finished my work yet."
Hearing this, Allison said softly, "It's okay, you just go and continue with your work."
Monica came over and asked, "Alice, what's wrong? Are you looking for someone to go out to execute the task with you?"
Allison nodded, "Yeah, I'm afraid I can't handle it alone."
Hearing her say so, Monica burst out laughing, "Alice, you're now not the clerk as in before but an administrative assistant. These tasks should be done even if you do it only by yourself. Moreover, everyone is so busy; you still want others to stop their own work to help you?"
Her voice was loud enough to be clearly heard by the colleagues around. Some of the gloating people even let out a chuckle and they were waiting to see Allison's be embarrassed.
Allison's cheeks burned in embarrassment when she was told such words in front of the crowd.
After a moment, she took a deep breath, "Monica, you're right, I'll go now."
Finished speaking, she turned and directly walked out of the administration department.
Although she was merely a clerk before, she was also certain that going out to order goods in the list was a task that was usually done by two or three people. But since nobody was willing to go with her this time, she had to complete the task on her own.
After coming out of the company, Allison directly went to the company that had a business partnership before and met with the person in charge.
After brief pleasantries, Allison directly spoke straight to the point, "Mr. Francis, I'm here this time is actually to order goods for the upcoming holidays. The Parker Group has worked with you before and we also plan to order goods from you this time at the same price as last year, are you okay with this?"
Mr. Francis initially showed a good attitude but as soon as he heard the specific price, his face looked more serious. He simply flipped through the quotation form and instantly shook his head, "I think our company can't accept this budget."
Hearing this, Allison hurriedly said, "Mr. Francis, the budget of our company this time is the same as the one last year..."
"Ms. Gibson, things shouldn't be like that. Now, the prices of goods are rising all over the country. Times have changed and since it's been a year, our company definitely can't give you the price the same as last year."
"But compared to the previous year, the amount required by our company is more..."
Not waiting for Allison to finish her words, Mr. Francis directly interrupted her, "Stop saying, Ms. Gibson, I've already clarified that our company definitely can't accept this price. Perhaps you should go back to report this to your superior to apply for a higher budget. If you still wish to order from us just come back to find me, we'll talk about it then."
Finished speaking, Mr. Francis got up and left.
Allison also got up. She did not expect that Mr. Francis's attitude was so resolute that he completely refused to talk with her.
She did not expect that the first company she came to would fail her.
Allison heaved a sigh. She had no choice but to take the document to continue finding the next company.
All the next few companies she went to were not willing to accept the order according to the budget of her company.
Allison only then realized the task of going out to order goods was not as easy as she had imagined. The budget of the company was limited and the price required by the vendors was not low. It would be extremely difficult for her to negotiate in between.
After running around for a whole day, Allison was in the doldrums. Exhausted, she went back to the company.
On her first day back to work, she had been cast a merciless head-on blow.
She was wearing high heels but she ran around different places all day and had walked more than ten thousand steps. The back of her feet was already worn out with blood and for every step she walked, her foot felt heartbreakingly painful.
Allison slowly paced into the lobby of the company. She slowly walked forward and before she reached the stairs, she heard a noise from the direction behind her.
She looked back and saw that a group of people coming in her direction. The person at the very front was Alexander and he was followed by four or five men in suits. It seemed like they were the senior executives of the company.
They were walking quickly towards her direction. Allison stood motionless as if her feet were rooted to the ground while her eyes were staring at Alexander.
Alexander was talking to the man beside him. When he turned his head and noticed Allison who was standing on the side, his sight suddenly paused. After two seconds, he turned his eyes away and continued walking to the front.
Seeing them leaving, Allison could not help but feel relieved. She was afraid that Alexander would notice her unusual manner but fortunately, he did not.
Back to the office of the administration department, Allison took off her high heels. She looked at the bloody wound on her heel and frowned.
If she knew that she would have to walk for so many distances when she went out, she would have worn flat shoes!
After a while, her head, Irene suddenly called and asked her to send a document to the president's office.
Allison did not have time to handle her wound. She hurriedly took the document and went to the president's office.
Halfway, she only realized that if she went to the president's office like this, she might meet Alexander. And perhaps he would notice the wound on her foot!☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
