Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Christopher smiled, stroked her black hair, and said gently. “Only if Ms. Yeager agrees.”
“That’s easy. I’ll ask Ms. Yeager tentatively during dinner later.”
“No hurry.” Christopher did not want to be too abrupt. After all, he and Josephine had only met a few times.
He wanted to get more familiar with her first before mentioning it.
Yvette said, “Okay. You can decide whatever you want as long as you agree, Daddy.”
Christopher was still gently stroking Yvette’s hair but had long had his gaze on the figure busying in the kitchen.
From time to time, Yvette ran into the kitchen and asked Josephine if she needed help. However, Josephine refused her and asked her to wait for dinner obediently.
The duo sitting in the living room soon smelled the food aroma from the kitchen. Yvette took a deep breath as if the aroma could make her full.
It was already seven o’clock when the dinner was served, and Josephine called Yvette and Christopher over to eat.
Looking at the food on the table, Christopher could not help being surprised.
Josephine had made five dishes and a mushroom soup in just over an hour. Just by looking at the dishes, Christopher was sure that they were definitely delicious.
The three of them then sat down to eat together. After having a spoonful of the dish, Christopher said gently, “I didn’t expect you to teach piano well. Even the dishes you cooked are so delicious. Whoever marries you in the future will be absolutely blissful.”
Josephine smiled and said, “I’m flattered.”
“Ms. Yeager,” Yvette, looking at Josephine, called out.
“Yes. What’s the matter?”
“What do you think of my daddy?” Yvette hurriedly asked.
Although Josephine did not understand why Yvette suddenly asked the question, she still answered, “Your daddy is good.”
“I think so, too.” Yvette was delighted after hearing Josephine’s answer.
She said nothing more and looked at Josephine before shifting her gaze to Christopher.
She already had an idea in her mind.
After dinner, Josephine and Christopher slowly chatted under Yvette’s lead.
As they chattered on and talked about something happy, they would smile happily and no longer as reserved as before.
It was already past eight o’clock when they finished chatting.
When Josephine was about to leave, Yvette asked Christopher to send Josephine back, saying it was already late and dangerous.
Her words made sense to Christopher. However, Josephine refused, saying that it was still early and she could still catch a bus.
She did not want to cause unnecessary trouble. After all, Ragnar was displeased last time because she had a meal with Christopher.
Since Josephine turned it down, Christopher naturally accepted it and sent her to the bus stop.
The bus that Josephine was waiting for soon arrived. She hopped into it and bade Christopher farewell.
She noticed her phone battery was dead only when she took out the phone..
It was already nine o’clock when Josephine returned to the Levine mansion. As soon as she entered the house, she heard Danny and Manny bawling from a distance.
Their voices were almost hoarse.
Josephine hurriedly quickened her pace and ran inside.
Once Josephine pushed the door of the baby room open, she saw Ragnar and Hannah coaxing Danny and Manny, looking slightly at a loss for what to
do at that time.
Especially Ragnar, who was so anxious that his head was covered in sweat.
Seeing that, Josephine hurried forward. “Why are they crying so hard?” As she spoke, she immediately picked up Danny and Manny.
Just like what happened before, everything was magical.
As soon as Josephine appeared, Danny and Manny would stop crying.
Ragnar looked at Josephine with darkened gaze and thought, “Did she not know that Danny and Manny couldn’t live without her? How can she come
back so late?”
Chapter 69
Danny and Manny would cry without Josephine at night. No matter how Ragnar and Hannah coaxed them, it did not work.
Ragnar called Josephine, but her phone had been turned off, which made him and Hannah very anxious.
It took them a lot of effort to comfort Danny and Manny, but in less than two minutes, they burst into tears again.
After they suffered mentally for a few hours, Josephine finally came back.
Hannah could feel that Ragnar was angry, and the temperature around them plummeted. She quickly came up with an excuse and left the baby room.
Josephine coaxed Danny and Manny to drink the formula milk, and they slept soundly after finishing their bottles.
Ragnar looked at Josephine coldly and said, “Come to the room with me.”
His voice was cold and void of feelings.
From the voice, Josephine could tell that Ragnar was angry, so she followed Ragnar back to the room without saying anything.
Before the door was closed, Ragnar’s cold voice sounded again. “Why did you switch off your phone? Did you not want to come back? Hmm?”
“No. I didn’t know when my phone battery was dead,” Josephine explained.
Hearing that made Ragnar’s mood eased a little.
“You were so late. Did you have dinner in the Hayes residence?” Ragnar asked again.
Josephine answered truthfully, “Yes. That was because Mr. Hayes did me a favor. In order to express my gratitude, I made them dinner.”
She would never lie and would say whatever she had to say.
Hearing Josephine’s answer, Ragnar immediately became furious.
Her words pierced Ragnar’s ear like sharp thorns, hurting his ears.
His expression darkened. “Josephine, don’t forget that you are a married woman and the mother of my two children. Why were you doing that in the Hayes residence? You are only a pianist, not their servant. You have no obligation to cook for them. Even if Christopher did you a favor, you could just invite them out for a meal. Why did you cook by yourself?”
Ragnar was furious, and his expression was extremely gloomy when he looked at Josephine.
There was no way Ragnar could allow his wife to cook for another man.
Without catching his breath, Ragnar added, “Besides, you know Danny and Manny will cry without you at night, yet you still came back so late.”
Ragnar was so angry that he said, “Or perhaps, you couldn’t bear to come back since the Hayes family treats you well.”
Hearing Ragnar accusing her like that made Josephine feel extremely wronged.
She mused, “I know it’s my fault to return late tonight, but Ragnar doesn’t need to make it sound so awful, right?”
Josephine took a deep breath to calm herself down before saying, “Mr. Levine, don’t you think what you said hurts people? I came back late tonight. It’s really my problem. I’m sorry”
Josephine did not care whether Ragnar would get agitated again and continued, “Everyone has their own personal affairs and have to take time to do their own things, don’t they?”
Josephine did not care at all whether Ragnar would be angry about it.
However, Josephine did not intend to tell Ragnar about the house.
She did not think it was necessary to tell him. Otherwise, he might say some harsh words again.
Besides, to thank Christopher, she cooked a meal for him and did nothing across the line. She did not think there was a problem with that.
Ragnar became even angrier when he heard Josephine’s words. “Personal affairs? What kind of personal affairs do you have with your student’s parent?”
“I don’t think it’s necessary for me to report every business of mine to you, right?”
“You!” Ragnar was so angry that color drained from his face. “Josephine, say that again?”
Dorothy was so happy to hear the quarrel.
She thought an opportunity had arrived and hurried into Ragnar’s bedroom.
