Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Then, she went on, “If she’s a sensible one and willing to take care of your other women, help take care of them during confinement, and then you can give the child to her to raise. If she’s tactless, I doubt anyone else would want her if she left you, especially since she’s infertile!”
In the evening. Jonathan came back.
When he saw Josephine, he assumed the demeanor of an elder and smiled as he asked, “Josie, when did you come back?”
Josephine, on the other hand, did not respond to his inquiry.
Instead, she glared coldly at Jonathan and said, “Aunt Yennefer told me that you have another woman outside. Is it true?”
When Jonathan heard that, he frowned.
He denied it right away, saying, “That’s not true!”
Then, with a gentle gaze, he said to Yennefer, who was standing by the side, “Yenny, I have already explained to you about the lipstick stain on my shirt, haven’t I? It’s because of a business meeting. I didn’t even notice when someone got close to me. I love you so much! How could I bear going outside and looking for some random woman?”
After saying that, Jonathan walked over to her.
He hugged Yennefer tightly. “Look, you’re thinking too much and crying too much again, aren’t you? Your eyes are red from crying, and seeing you in this state breaks my heart.”
Suddenly, Yennefer pushed him away.
“Jonathan, when you said you were on a business trip, did you really mean it? Or were you lying to me and sleeping elsewhere?”
“Where else could I possibly sleep?” Jonathan inquired.
H
He had a sincere expression on his face. His eyes remained as clear as before as if he could only see Yennefer in them. They were overflowing with
affection.
He vowed that Yennefer would be the only person he ever loved.
When Yennefer mentioned a student who claimed to have seen Jonathan in Sloummont, Jonathan denied it as well, explaining, “How could that be possible? I was away on business. He must have misidentified me with someone else!”
Next, in the presence of Yennefer and Josephine, Jonathan dialed the phone number of the student who claimed to have seen him in the mall and complained, “Leonard, did you see me in Sloummont yesterday? That was clearly not the case because I was on a business trip! Did you misidentify me with someone else? Let me tell you, my wife is now suspicious of my behavior solely because of your words! If we divorce, you will be held accountable!”
The student, Leonard Lane, immediately denied seeing Jonathan and explained to Yennefer that he might have mistaken someone else for Jonathan.
After hanging up the phone, Jonathan turned to Yennefer and said, “You see, I told you Leonard must have misidentified me.”
After saying that, he went back to his room with Yennefer in his arms.
When the two of them walked out of the room, it seemed that Jonathan had managed to placate Yennefer.
Jonathan looked at Josephine and said with a gentle smile, “Josie, since you are back, let’s have dinner at home tonight. Your aunt and 1 are going to go out and get some more dishes right now.”
Josephine refused, “No, thanks.”
Yennefer sent her downstairs as she was leaving.
“Aunt Yennefer, did Jonathan explain everything to you about this matter?” Josephine was still concerned.
“Yes. I still believe in Jonathan!” replied Yennefer.
After all these years together and being married for so long, Yennefer chose to believe that Jonathan’s love for her had not changed.
Nonetheless, Josephine felt that the matter was not as simple as it seemed.
She took Yennefer’s hand and told her, “Aunt Yennefer, I’ve almost saved up! I just need a little bit more, and then I can pay the down payment, so you don’t have to worry about anything. You should leave Jonathan if he doesn’t treat you well, if he ever lays a hand on you again, or if he really has another woman outside. Aunt Yenneler, I can also provide you with a place to live!” Josephine suggested.
Yennefer’s eyes welled up with tears once more. As she nodded in agreement, she was moved and comforted.
She patted Josephine’s hand to reassure her, “If there really is such a situation, I will definitely leave him immediately! When that time comes, I’ll come
to you.”
Meanwhile, after Josephine and Yennefer went downstairs, Samantha immediately asked Jonathan, “Son, do you really have no women outside?”
“No!” Jonathan uttered.
Samantha was very disappointed. “I thought you’d finally turned promising, that you’d found another woman outside and were about to have a child for the Zimmerman family.”
She sighed deeply, disappointed.
Then, as she turned back to her room, she muttered, “Albert, my dream of having a grandchild is going to be shattered again. How can I explain to you in the afterlife that our son did not have a child? Is this the end for the Zimmerman family?”
While listening to the nagging, Jonathan remembered his secretary, Winnie Jones, who was both gentle and sexy.
He wondered if she had purposefully flirted with him and teased him by leaving lipstick marks on his shirt.
When Jonathan remembered what happened last night after he had gotten drunk, his eyes darkened, and he tugged at the knot of his tie, feeling parched. He quickly headed to the dining room for a glass of cold water.
Meanwhile, Tatiana was sentenced to prison for injuring the two children. She was sentenced to three months in prison based on solid evidence.
When Tatiana’s parents found out, they burst into tears.
Because Lydia was a distant relative, they contacted her right away and asked her if she could think of a way to help Tatiana avoid imprisonment.
In response, Lydia shook her head.
As there was nothing she could do to help, she told Tatiana’s parents coldly, “Your daughter is audacious and has caused harm to the Levine family’s twins! It’s a good thing Ms. Yeager had allergy medication ready ahead of time. Otherwise, your daughter would not have been sentenced to just three months in prison!”
Speaking of that, Lydia felt unlucky. “If I had known your daughter had such unrealistic expectations and such a wicked mind, I would never have let her into the Levine family! How dare she attempt to harm Ms. Yeager!”
After a short while Lydia sneered and continued, “Hah! Did she believe that by framing Ms. Yeager and getting her evicted, she would be able to take her place? Please ask her to look in the mirror and see if she is worthy! By the way, does she even know who Ms. Yeager is? She even framed Ms. Yeager, saying she wants to climb into bed with the CEO and become his wife? She has no idea that Ms. Yeager is already…”
Lydia was so agitated that she was about to tell them that Josephine had already married Ragnar.
Hearing that, Tatiana’s parents inquired, “What were you about to say?”
“Nothing!” Lydia yelled.
She had a cold expression and impatiently told Tatiana’s parents, “Anyway, I have no way to deal with your daughter’s situation. Please leave now!”
Tatiana’s parents were forced to leave because they had no other option.
After much deliberation, they concluded that the matter was most likely related to Josephine.
They were also pressed for time and were willing to try anything to save their daughter.
That afternoon, they found Charles and told him about Tatiana’s situation. “Charles, Tatiana is your cousin. You can’t simply ignore the fact that she’ll be in jail soon.”
“What should I do then?” Charles asked, his face cold.
The York family was an ordinary family with no claim to fame. Despite his current connections with Valeria and the prestigious Lambert family of Sloummont, it still wasn’t enough for him to be able to help her.
