Chapter 22
The one person who I had looked up to, admired and spent years looking for was right in front of my face. But I wasn’t one bit happy to see him. Quarry was now all grown up. His once dirty blond hair had now turned to the most amber brown I had ever seen, his bright hazel eyes looked a lot more dull like his life got drained out of him. He was wearing a long black cape looking thing that covered his whole body. The edges were trimmed with the red tint that reminded me of home. His face was all droopy and looked like he hadn't slept in days.
Thinking of home snapped me out of my frozen state. I quickly examined the rest of the half crumbling house in horror at what I saw. But my mind didn’t really process everything in the building. I didn’t have much time to process it before I practically bolted away from the window. Trying my best to be hidden but at the same time just trying to get away.
I bolted back behind the wall the others were hiding behind. My frantic and delirious state sent everyone else into panic. They circled around me before I could even catch my breath, they all grabbed the handle of their daggers, still searching for the doom. They looked around like crazy trying to figure out what had sent me into such a state.
I slowly started shaking my head. I wasn’t sure if it was to tell them there was no danger or to try and convince myself that what I saw wasn’t real. The one person I had looked for years was on the other side, with the enemy. The person I looked up to fought alongside in the horrendous house was on the other side. He was helping the supernatural. A force that had wiped out potentially our whole family. Not that I held any empathy for them.
However I didn’t want to believe it. I could. I wouldn’t. I may have known deep deep down that he was but I refused to believe it until I said it with my own eyes.
My body and my mind were on high alert, fuzzy and had thousands of thoughts rushing through. My head went swinging towards one direction, as something impacted hard with my cheek. I clutched it holding onto it as the stinging erupted. The surface became hot to the touch but my hand stayed, almost as if I left it to fall off. I twirled my head back looking for what could have caused the sudden impact.
Clutching my cheek, I hysterically looked around. Sam was holding his hand awkwardly in the air. He slowly lowered it. It dawns on me that what hit me wasn’t an object but rather Sam smacking me across the face. Waking me up and bringing my back to the present time
Jason and Maddy’s jaws had practically fallen on the ground. They had turned their heads just in time to see Sam back and hand me across the face. They quickly gathered up their jaws. Secele and Blar haven't seen what had happened but horror and astonishment covered their faces in waves of emotion. Looking back up to Sam. His face loomed with fear and concern. Fear most likely because of the fear of being reprimanded. However concern had out wayed the fear.
“Thanks Sam.” I mumble under my breath. Still securely holding my burning cheek.
Sam gives a quick nod. Most likely thankful that I said nothing more on the matter. With the slap I had pulled myself out of all of my thoughts and my brain eventually went back to the topic at hand. Quickly leaving all past family problems on the back burner.
“Okay..” I say quietly, taking a breath. “Inside there is one enemy, they seem strong but nothing that we have to be concerned with. They seem to be standing over someone that is pinned up against the wall. I can’t see the person's state. So I’m not sure if they’re injured. The person we saw walking into the house has the features of a human, however I can’t make out if he is actually one. He could be a shapeshifter, wizard, zombie, werewolf, vampire, or he could be just a plain human. That's all I could figure out.” Everyone is quiet for a bit processing the information I have given.
“If you don’t mind me asking what had you in such a… tense state.” Sam tried to light heartedly asking about my hysterical state from before.
“ It’s nothing too important . I just thought they looked a lot like someone I was looking for, however I highly doubt that's the case.”
For now Sam seems satisfied with that answer, but he would most likely bring it up again later. During our conversation Maddy is pointing at something that is approaching the house. We all look to figure out what it is.
A gray almost black thing is transparent, it is oval ish shape as it very slowly approaches the house leaving behind it a flat plain of grass. As it walks or slides? Good residue is left behind springing out more creatures like it.
“Eller’s. What are they doing out here.” Sam quietly bubbles underneath his breath. So much so I barely caught it.
Ellers are known to be good like creatures that are created from the mud and salami of the swamps. They’re usually nice creatures as long as you stay out of their ways. One weakness of the Ellers is that as soon as they leave the swarm they slowly start to fall apart. They can’t control the goo that slowly falls off of them. One being here means that there is either a wizard or a witch as well at this meeting. Or and it's a really big or, that this creature was once gigantic and had made the slow journey here by itself.
After we caught sight of the Ellers other supernatural creatures also approached, vampires, werewolves, wizards, witches, zombies, skeletons, mummies, orcs, goblins, potentially shapeshifters, and humans. We even witnessed some dragon shifters. This was truly a supernatural meeting. Every single known supernatural creature to be known was here.
Finally after jumping from house to stay hidden we got as close as possible and they finally started to begin the meeting. Vampires were turned into bats and were hanging on the roof, the dripping of goo showed that the Ellers were also in the walls listening in. Werewolves and every other human looking creature while everything else was on the other side.
In the middle of the group sat Quarry.
I was shocked to see so many supernatural creatures all together. Many of them were mortal enemies of each other. Some were currently at war with each other but yet here they all were sitting in the small house in the middle of nowhere.
Once everyone was situated, we were ready to start the meeting. Quarry got up and looked back and forth, finally addressing everyone.
“Hello everyone my name is Quarry. Quarry La Jain Demopolis, and yes I am THE Demoplis. I am one of the last remaining, as far as I’m aware only one is left alive decides me and that would be my sister. And finally before we officially continue with this meeting let me address some of the rumors that have been circulating about me. All of them are talking about what was the cause of the destruction of the Demoplis family. And to accurately tell you if it was because of werewolves and vampires, but…. I was the one to hire them and destroy us.”
