Chapter Fiancé Uncle 175
Chapter 175
Thea regarded her so-called family members before her.
In order to obtain what they desired from her, they didn't hesitate to devise all sorts of means to smear her and saddle her with blame. Such behavior was truly unseemly.
She remained entirely unruffled and even offered a kind reminder. "Tsk. I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you all. These things were bestowed upon me willingly by Grandpa. I have his handwritten letter with me. It's fine if you want to call the police. Do you need my assistance?
The few of them exchanged glances, complex emotions swirling in their eyes.
Judging from Thea's demeanor, it didn't seem as if she was lying
This indicated that the ten percent of the shares had indeed been left to her by Joshua.
Emmalie was the first to voice her discontent. "It's not fair. We're all children of the Rowland family. Why should everything be given to you? I don't believe Grandpa would do this. Perhaps he did leave a portion for you, but surely not the whole lot." Duncan nodded in agreement. "I think Emmalie is right. Thea, don't be so self-centered"
Im sorry, but I am that self-centered. What? Can't stand it? Then call the police and have me arrested" Thea let out
yawn.
She had come to realize that reasoning with these people was a futile endeavor.
Since she was already deemed a villain in their eyes, she might as well play the part to the hilt.
Seeing how brazen she was, Duncan was momentarily at a loss for words.
a-lazy
Thea couldn't be bothered to waste any more time on these two and shifted her gaze to Max. "Perhaps, Max, you'd like to have a chat with me alone?"
Among the three, Max was in the foulest mood.
Back in the day, it was Joshua who overrode all objections and placed him, a young man who hadn't even graduated from university, in the position of chairman of the Rowland Group.
Although later, the two had a falling out due to their differing attitudes towards Thea.
Nevertheless, the fact that Max was Joshua's chosen successor had been firmly ingrained in everyone's minds.
Even Max himself held this belief.
So when he learned that there were still ten percent of the shares in Joshua's possession, he wasn't overly concerned.
He believed that Joshua would eventually hand them over to him to solidify his position.
To his utter astonishment, before he could await that day, he discovered that Joshua had already given these shares to Thea.
He was filled with a sense of unwillingness, his heart seething with dissatisfaction.
There was even a tinge of danger in the way he looked at Thea
He took a deep breath. "Emmalie and Duncan, leave."

Emmalie was about to say something but, catching sight of Max icy glare, reluctantly walked out.

Once out of Max's line of sight, she spoke with some concern. "Duncan, what are we going to do? I don't think Max will manage to get the things back. I keep feeling that Max treats Thea differently now. He never used to scold me on account of Thea before." Duncan felt a pang of sympathy. "It's okay. In this family, it doesnt have to be Max who calls the shots. Let's go and tell Mom about this. Mom will surely side with us."
Emmalie immediately perked up. On second thought, however she hesitated. "But Morn is still recuperating. She'll definitely get angry when she hears about this. It won't be good for her health, right?"
Duncan pinched her face affectionately. "What are you afraid of Mom has weathered all kinds of storms. I think Max has been a bit indecisive lately. Im worried about having someone like that manage the Rowland Group. Why don't we let Mom make the decision? She'll Emmalie caught sight of the ambition in his eyes and smiled. "Duncan, no matter what you do, I'll support you."
Duncan was deeply touched. Just as he was about to speak, his phone suddenly vibrated.
Glancing at the caller ID, he walked away, his expression a bit unnatural.
Emmalie grew suspicious. Since when did he have to take calls behind her back?"
She tiptoed over.
Duncan had deliberately lowered his voice, but Emmalie could still make out that the person on the phone was a girl. The voice on the other end was delicate and weak, with a hint of coquettishness.
Recalling what Ivy had said in the hospital, that aside from the Rowland family, what she was most worried about now were Duncan's and Max's marriages.
Max would select a suitable candidate from among the young ladies of noble families for an arranged marriage.
Duncan hadn't expressed any opinion at that time, but it turned out he already had someone in mind.
Emmalie's eyes turned cold."
At present, she wasn't willing to have a second girl to divert Duncan's attention.
After all, if he was preoccupied with other women, how could he still be willing to help her wholeheartedly deal with Thea? Having thought this through, she suddenly sprang out from behind and tapped Duncan on the shoulder.
Duncan was startled. Turning around and seeing her, he smiled helplessly and dotingly. "Emmalie, I've got something to handle here. I'll come over when I'm done."
Emmalie had no intention of leaving. She stared curiously at his phone. "Duncan, are you chatting with your girlfriend? You actually have a girlfriend. Good for you, you hid it so well.
Duncan coughed dryly and chuckled. "We've only been together for a short while. I thought I'd wait until our relationship stabilizes before bringing her to meet you."
The woman on the other end of the phone sensed that something was wrong.
Although she was his biological siblings, shouldn't they meet the parents first when introducing each other to their families? Why was it that he wanted to introduce her to his sister first?
It seemed as if he would only be willing to marry her if his sister gave her approval.

She subconsciously felt that this Emmalie was no ordinary character.
Emmalie snatched Duncan's phone without hesitation and said in a playful tone, "Hello, sister. I'm Duncan's little sister. Emmalie.
"Hello, my name is Teri Langstaff, the other party replied politely, though there was a hint of aloofness in her tone.

Emmalie's eyes sparkled as she smiled and said, "Sister Teri, although Duncan looks cold on the outside, he's actually really nice to people. Ever since I was young, he's been the one who dotes on me the most. The rest of the family combined can't compare to him." Teri felt even more uncomfortable and gritted her teeth. "You're his sister. It's only natural for an older brother to dote on his younger sister."
"Of course." Emmalie raised her chin arrogantly and snorted at Duncan. "Even if Duncan gets married in the future, you can't forget me."
Duncan smiled gently and affectionately rubbed her head. "That's for sure. Emmalie is my most beloved baby."
Teri felt thoroughly disgusted. But she couldn't get angry. She had put a lot of effort into being with Duncan.
Although she wasn't sure if Emmalie was up to what she suspected, for now, she could only cooperate and cajole her. "Duncan mentioned you to me before. He said that you're an especially beautiful and outstanding girl. I know several masters in the art world. If you want future, I can introduce you to them. I'm doing this out of love for Duncan.
Teri took the initiative to assume the role of the mistress of the household.
