Dumping Ex and Spoiled by Mr. Hopkins by Amber Apple

Chapter 9

Chapter 9: An Improper Thought

Lexie shot Grayson a

surprised look.

“Do you mind if we say hello first?” Grayson flashed a little

smile when he said it.

Lexie glanced at the elderly woman standing nearby,

sensing her friendly vibe. After a brief pause, she

nodded.

Spotting them from afar,

Madame Elizabeth broke

into a smile. Waving enthusiastically, she chirped, “Hey there! Apologies for the sudden invite. I hope it’s not

too much trouble.”

She finally saw her grandson

with a girl for the first time!

Of course, she’s over the

moon about it!

“Nice to see you, Madame Elizabeth,” Lexie greeted

cheerfully.

Madame Elizabeth’s smile

widened. She took Lexie’s

hand and gave it a gentle pat. “Good girl. Just call me

Elizabeth.”

This sudden familiarity

made Lexie feel a bit

awkward. She managed an

awkward yet polite smile, frozen in place.

Feeling that Lexie might be a bit uneasy, Grayson casually

scooted back a bit and fixed

the blanket. “It’s a tad breezy,

even with the sun. Don’t

want you catching a cold or anything.”

Elizabeth shot a surprised look, eyebrow raised. Was this thoughtful guy actually her grandson, the one

usually so nonchalant about

women?

At her age, Madame Elizabeth could read people like a book. A glance was

enough to understand what

this rascal was up to.

A meaningful grin played on her l*ps.

It seemed he’s thinking about not making things awkward for the young girl.

Thank heavens for that. At

least her grandson wouldn’t

die as a bachelor.

When her gaze fell on Lexie

again, she asked gently, “Good child, how long have you known each other?”

Lexie, at this point, got why Madame Elizabeth was so

excited. She instantly

clarified, “Elizabeth, there’s a

mix-up. We just met by

chance, and barely know

each other.”

Met by chance…

Madame Elizabeth’s gaze subtly shifted from Grayson.

Probably someone didn’t see

it that way.

“Dear, I liked you

you the

moment I laid eyes on you. When you’re free, care to spend some time with me?” Madame Elizabeth glanced at Lexie and then quickly lowered her eyelids, acting like a poor old lady who got no care from her family. “This rascal is so busy; can’t even catch a glimpse of him. Oh, I feel so lonely in the hospital.”

“I…” Lexie knew there was a

misunderstanding, and she

instinctively wanted to

refuse.

But when she caught sight of

Madame Elizabeth’s silver

hair, it instantly reminded her of her own granddad. Touched by the thought, she paused for a sec and said, “Sure thing.”

Madame Elizabeth perked up as soon as Lexie agreed, her previous sadness

vanishing. She flashed a smile and said, “Great! I’ll be

waiting. Gray will come and

get you.

“This…” Lexie looked a bit embarrassed at Grayson. “It

seems a bit too troublesome.

“Not at all, not at all,”

Madame Elizabeth quickly

conveyed a glance to

Grayson, a look that carried a hint of smugness.

After a brief conversation,

Lexie received a call from

Kaitlynn and had to leave.

Grayson’s eyes slightly

squinted, his intense gaze fixed on the slender figure of

the woman, as if stalking

prey.

“Grayson,” Madame

Elizabeth suddenly spoke,

her voice carrying a hint of coldness, sounding

somewhat accusatory.
