: Chapter 30
Me: Something’s wrong with Keene.
Bristol: What did you do?
Me: Why are you assuming it’s something I did?
Bristol: *gif of the unamused kid in Spongebob pajamas*
Bristol: Please. You’re the emotionally stunted one here. It has to be you.
Me: I appreciate the vote of confidence, as always.
Bristol: Absolutely. Now spill. When you texted from Cannon Beach, it sounded like things were good. What changed?
Me: That’s just it. I have no idea.
Me: We were at the beach, and everything was great. I did everything you said. Let him in, showed him I care. And for a second, I was seeing it. Us. Me and him.
Bristol: So it comes back to…what did you do?
Me: Nothing!
Bristol: When did he start acting weird?
Me: …after we had sex.
Bristol: So you did do something.
Me: I fucked him the way he asked me to. Hard and rough and claiming. And, no offense to you, but it was some of the best sex of my life.
Bristol: None taken, I guess.
Me: He seemed fine after it. Went to the bathroom to shower. Came back out, and he seemed a little out of it. Thought it was just post-sex haze. We watched the storm on the balcony after. Snuggled in bed the way he likes. It was everything.
Me: But the next morning, he woke up like a completely different person. Almost…detached? The complete opposite of himself. He barely spoke the entire ride home.
Bristol: Did you try talking to him?
Me: Don’t type to me in that tone. Of course, I tried. He gave me a one-off comment about being tired, but it’s been weeks, and it’s not better.
Bristol: THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR WEEKS AND YOU’RE JUST TELLING ME NOW?
Me: I was trying to fix it on my own. Obviously, I can’t.
Me: I don’t know what to do. I wish I knew what was wrong so I could fix it before it’s too late.
Bristol: Just don’t give up. He’s never given up on you.
