Chapter 34 I Feel Sick Looking At You!
"I don't want to do anything. I just want you to know that Vaughn is my man now, and the person he loves is me!"
The corner of Laney's mouth curved into a smug sneer. She was using her words to hurt me. If she had said this in the beginning, I might have felt hurt, but now I did not feel anything at all.
"Whether he loves you or not has got nothing to do with me, but I do still need to thank you for something. You made me realise his true personality before I jumped into this trap, so thank you. Thanks for pulling me aside at the last minute."
I looked at Laney mockingly and pretended to thank her.
Actually, even though she had hurt me by seducing Vaughn, from another perspective, she had also allowed me to see what kind of man Vaughn truly was right before our wedding. He was a scumbag who wasn't worth giving away my whole life to.
Even though it was a tough choice, I did not regret it, because I knew that I had made the right choice.
Of course, Laney could tell that I was deliberately insulting her. Her expression became more twisted because of the injustice she felt.
Vaughn, who was standing beside her, frowned slightly and looked at me with disapproval as if I had betrayed him somehow.
I looked at him with a sneer at the corner of my mouth. He really was an extraordinary j*rk. He was the one who had cheated on me and had an illegitimate child, but he was looking at me like I was the one who had betrayed him. It was hilarious.
"Hollie, I didn't come here for anything else. I just heard that your father is hospitalized. Whatever happened, we were still together for seven years, so I should come and visit."
When Vaughn said this, his tone was very gentle, but I couldn't help but resist from the bottom of my heart. I opened my mouth to say something, but Evie took the initiative.
"Visit? I think Hollie's father's condition would worsen if he sees you. Vaughn Jarvis, you cheated on Hollie. How dare you come and visit her father now? How shameless are you? You two are really a shameless match made in heaven."
Evie gave a cold snort. She didn't have a kind expression when she faced Vaughn. Maybe it was because she had seen me suffering in the days right after our breakup, so she was venting her anger at him. Vaughn had always been a prideful person. At work, he had always been flattered by his subordinates, so when Evie said these scathing words, he couldn't have felt good. He glared at Evie angrily, but he did not say anything.
After all, as a man, if he got into an argument with a woman in public, the public opinion would always favour the woman. Moreover, he was the one who cheated in the first place.
More and more people gathered around. I didn't want to be laughed at, so I walked up to Vaughn.
"Thank you for your kindness, but my parents don't want to see you. You'd better go. The two of us are over. Please don't appear in front of me in the future."
I looked into Vaughn's eyes and said these words in a cold tone. From the moment I saw him betray me, I no longer had any illusions about him, and the relationship between me and him was completely over. Vaughn looked at me. After hearing what I said, his expression became a little flustered, and he frowned tightly.
"Hollie, I'm just concerned about you."
"I don't need your concern. Vaughn, from now on, I hope that you and your woman can never appear in front of me ever again because I feel sick looking at the two of you."
I said these words coldly. I ignored Vaughn's angry face and pulled Evie away.
It was supposed to be a happy day for me since my father could undergo the operation to save his life today, but because of their appearance, my entire mood was ruined. These two were like ghosts haunting me. I could see them everywhere I go.
On the way back to the ward, my face was cold and I didn't say a word. Evie frowned and looked at me. After hesitating for a long time, she opened her mouth. "Hollie, are you still sad about Vaughn?"
"Why would I? I've already moved on. A jerk like him isn't worth pining over. They just ruined my good mood by appearing today."
I smiled at her and explained calmly.
"Yeah, they're so shameless, how dare they come to the hospital? I think they're trying to worsen uncle's situation."
"Alright, Evie, let's not talk about them anymore. It will affect your mood."
I didn't want to think about those two anymore, so I smiled at her and changed the subject.
When I was about to reach the ward, my cell phone rang. I took out my cell phone and saw that it was a text from Brandon. I panicked and immediately put my cell phone back in my pocket. "Who sent you a text message?"
Looking at me in confusion, Evie asked curiously.
"No, it's a text reminder from 10086."
I looked away in a panic and made up an excuse.
"By the way, Evie, please help me get this food to the ward first. I have something I need to deal with, I'll be back soon."
I gave Evie the food in my hands and left before she could ask me any questions.
"Hollie, where are you going?"
I ignored Evie's voice from behind me and did not answer her.
I walked quickly to the hospital's underground parking lot. Brandon had just texted me to tell me that he was waiting for me in the parking lot. I didn't know why he suddenly came here, but I didn't want Evie to know that I had made a deal with him, so I left in a hurry.
After searching for a long time, I finally found Brandon's car. He had parked in a secluded area that was hard to find.
I opened the car door and sat down. Brandon was wearing a pair of sunglasses, which covered most of his handsome face. But even so, his noble aura could not be hidden.
"Like what you see?"
Just as I was staring at Brandon's side profile and completely forgetting to speak, his indifferent voice rang in my ears.
I suddenly came back to my senses and looked away awkwardly. I got distracted staring at him just now...
"What can I do for you?"
I looked straight ahead and didn't dare to look into Brandon's eyes.
"Are you still entangled with Vaughn?"
Brandon turned to look at me. His voice was cold. His question made me panic. When I came back to my senses, I looked at him and frowned with dissatisfaction.
