“You went through all the trouble just for a position? Lucy earned her position. And what about you? Know your place. You think sleeping with me will grant your wish?”

Hearing that, Chloe was heartbroken, as if countless daggers were stabbing her heart.

Michael, on the other hand, was done with the fuss.

He got out of bed, uttering, “I’m sleeping in the guest room tonight. Stop making a fuss. It’s annoying.”

Then he left and slammed the door shut.

Chloe knew it would come to this, yet she couldn’t help but fantasize that Michael would care about her.

She gave a bitter smile as tears streamed down her face. Curling up, she shivered uncontrollably.

Three years ago, she was overwhelmed with her mother’s illness and her father’s debts.

It was Michael’s grandfather that got her out of despair. He paid off her 600 million dollars debt and took her in, treating her as

Michael’s wife.

People thought she was lucky to marry Michael and have his grandpa pay off her father’s debts. But no one knew that she had actually loved him for ten years.

Even her diary was all about how much she loved him and how

much she cared about him.

She thought if she tried hard enough, he might show her some

affection.

But later, Chloe learned that Michael had already fallen for someone else. The only reason why he married her was that he wanted to keep his family from hurting his beloved woman.

But that didn’t really matter to her. What pained her the most was that the woman he loved turned out to be Lucy, her half–sister.

Lucy was one of the main reasons why Chloe and her mom suffered. But Chloe couldn’t tell Michael about it. He wouldn’t believe her, after all.

From then on, she made a scene once in a while just to get his attention. Chloe even told herself that it would be alright as long as Michael didn’t hook up with his ex.

Sadly, it was all wishful thinking.

Suddenly, the scene of Michael talking to Lucy tenderly came to her mind.

Yes, she had always been humble in this relationship. And now, she decided to put an end to it.

The whole night, Chloe kept tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. Meanwhile, she had a better picture of what she should do next.

As noon approached, a servant called to her outside the door.

“Mrs. Shawn, we bought the ingredients for dinner as you requested.”

Chloe jolted awake, suddenly remembering it was their third wedding anniversary today. She had been preparing for it since a week ago.

But now, all her excitement seemed pointless.

She sat up, shaking off her drowsiness, and decided to get up and freshen up.

As she reached the dining room, Chloe was about to get prepared for the meal herself, saving the servants trouble. But she instantly changed her mind as the designer bag on the table caught her eye.

The realization hit Chloe so hard that it almost drove her mad.

Glancing at the ingredients, she hesitated. Despite her resentment toward Michael, she couldn’t bear to waste those ingredients just like that.

Then she asked the servants to turn them into meals and place the food into disposable lunchboxes. After that, she called some delivery guys over.

“Take these to Shawn Heavy Industries,” She instructed them. “Tell them Michael’s wife wants to celebrate her divorce.”
