Grim

Hatred.

Rage.

Jealousy.

Cold companions, yet more comforting than I had expected. I hated him for taking what should have been mine. What was mine until he came waltzing up like he was king of the world.

I had fought the shadows, at first. Fought the pain I felt, seeing him near... her. The way he made her smile, made her laugh, how she always seemed to look for him when she was upset. It was like a physical blow every second of the day. Then I saw him taking her away and felt betrayed.

My brothers, those I had trusted more than anyone else, helped him and not me. They turned their back on me and helped him take her away. It was then that I stopped fighting the darkness. But it wasn’t truly darkness. It was the cruel truth.

If I had known I would feel this powerful, I would never have fought in the first place. I felt like now, I could fix things. I could get him out of the way. Distract him, somehow, and take her back. I know she didn’t care for him. Not like she did for me. She practically hated him. He took her against her will.

I could save her now.
