Desire for you - ALPHA ILAY

Chapter 38

ILAY

I had made myself comfortable in Nael's chair and was tapping my fingers on the table when he and Delilah finally arrived.

They both sat down and looked at me as I frowned in confusion.

"The last time you gave us all hell about Valentina, I didn't think you could ever fall in love," one-nil for me.

Nael smiled at me and shook her head: "Ilay, I'm not falling for that. Valentina has probably been dead for five hundred years and unlike you, I can say I'm over it. Especially since my phase didn't last a year compared to yours," he shot back, almost making me look stupid.

One on one.

"I don't have much time, after all, one of you is going to die - I hope you have a plausible explanation, my curiosity is the only thing holding me back at the moment," I explained to myself, glaring dangerously at Delilah.

At least now I knew where Nael's shoe was pinching...

"We were in Volterra-"

"Wait, wait, wait? You had a heart for Dimitri?" I interrupted him and looked at them both in astonishment. They weren't serious, were they? Nael had murdered an innocent girl in cold blood? I had to grin, because my brother just scored a few points with me.

Nael shook his head "No, please let me finish," he continued, starting to look annoyed with me.

I rolled my eyes and leant back.

"We were with Ryan, whose friend Kilian happened to be there, who in turn was friends with the Alpha of the Silvestre pack. Dimitri owed the Silvestre pack, so we went in without a heart. When we were in Volterra and stood before Dimitri, he had seen in Delilah that she was a Nephilim and he wanted her to give him a drop of blood"

"Please what?" I asked Nael in confusion and choked on my own saliva.

I must not have heard correctly.

"We refused to comply with Dimitri's demands and a fight broke out. Delilah and Ryan freed Ragnol and I killed Dimitri..." Nael said, looking at me calmly.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing... Nael had gone to such lengths because of me... I was simply flashed and impressed. Especially because it wasn't easy to kill Dimitri, but he had done it.

"Where's Ragnol now?" I asked, wondering why I hadn't seen him yet.

"He's here in the house..."

"When we freed Ragnol, there were these huge vampires and Ryan didn't manage to kill them both at once.... He begged me for help while I stood there frozen..." Delilah whispered to herself, looking at Nael in confusion.

Nael looked at her and nodded "Yes... Exactly" "And then I woke up in the Silvestre pack," she said quietly, leaving me wondering.

"What happened?" I asked Nael, looking between them.

"She lost her memory for a short time and it seems like one thing is slowly adding up to another," Nael replied.

Please what?

"Let me get this straight... You were on a mission, she lost her memory and a day later you're shagging in the moonlight and causing me the trauma of the millennium... Are you sure you're BOTH okay and you weren't cursed by Ragnol?" I asked her, and it was a serious question.

Nael rolled his eyes "We were together before we went to Dimitri," he explained to me and sighed.

"It's not about me and Delilah, it's about you and Catherine. One drop of Delilah's blood and you can be by her side again..." Nael said, making me sit up and take notice.

A single drop of blood and I could go back to Catherine... I can't describe the feeling that spreads through my chest.

Hope...

"What are you waiting for?" I asked her, stuttering, and stood up. My eyes fell on Delilah.

She looked at me, startled, and shook her head. "Not until you swear not to kill anyone else..." she said softly, making me frown.

"Sweetheart, killing is what makes a demon, at least us men, you women are just too complicated for that. Give me your blood or I'll get it myself," I growled at her and ran towards her.

"Ilay! Pull yourself together..." Nael threatened me and stood protectively in front of Delilah.

"Get out of my way," I hissed at Nael, my eyes fixed on her.

"Ilay... you risk her suffering amnesia again if she uses her powers and that's what happens when she panics.... Judging by her pulse, she's about to, pull yourself together, we're not your enemies, we want to help you," Nael warned me and grabbed Delilah's hand to calm her down...

I was furious at that moment and wanted to grab her.

I breathed in and out to calm myself and looked at Delilah.

"No innocent people are going to die, okay," I said for the sake of peace and because I wanted to get back to Catherine as soon as possible.

Delilah looked at me uncertainly and finally nodded.

Nael took a knife out of the drawer and handed it to her.

"One drop is enough," he said and stabbed her in the finger.

I grinned and went to her.

"Who would have thought that my Laylah would be the solution to my problem? I owe you one, Laylah," I said and reached for her hand.

She flinched at my touch as I licked her finger with my tongue.

"Mhmm you taste damn good, Laylah...", I said with a grin after I licked the drop of blood and let go of her before Nael got angry.

She didn't say anything, just looked at me calmly. Nael pulled her to him and looked at me:

"Maybe this time you'll announce yourself before you make Catherine throw herself down the cliff again," Nael said, nodding towards the door at me, "Go get your girl," he grinned now as he put an arm around Delilah.

I rolled my eyes, "It's obvious, you probably want to pick up where you left off... So Laylah, thank you very much, I'll let you know when everything has worked out, otherwise you're dead," I said with a shrug and turned towards the door.

I couldn't help but grin and wanted to jump for joy.

Oh Cate... It's been way too long... Shit, I had tears in my eyes with joy and turned back to Nael.

I pulled him into a hug and squeezed him tight "Thank you," I whispered softly, looking at him.

Nael smiled and patted me on the shoulder "That's what brothers are for, but without Delilah we wouldn't be here...". She was the one who questioned everything," Nael explained to me.

"I thank you too, Laylah..." I said honestly and looked at her.

She nodded slightly and didn't say anything back, no wonder, I had been a real arsehole to her...

Damn... My feelings had been frozen all this time...

"I'll make it up to you, I swear," I promised her. "I'll be in touch Nael, see you then," I said goodbye and teleported to New Orleans.

I reached for my mobile and called Ryan "Wow, that took a long time," he said right on the phone, making me grin.

"You fucking idiot, does she know yet?" I asked him.

"No, not yet... I thought we'd surprise her. She's about to go to the playground with Henry, if you want, you can wait for us there while I fill her in a little on the way," he said, bringing a smile to my face.

"Ryan, are you okay with this?"

"Are you out of your mind? You're family... We both missed you, even though I wanted her all to myself at first... I'll see you later," with that he hung up.

Damn, I was nervous... Elijah Edevane was never nervous! Or was he... I was so unprepared, damn it.

My legs headed straight for a flower stall.

What flowers did Cate like? Damn, for loving her so much, I couldn't even remember which flowers she liked....

Suddenly I saw Red Noami roses and waved to the seller.

Roses... Catherine always smelled so wonderfully of roses. It brought back memories that I had suppressed for so long in order to forget them.

"I'd like a bunch of these roses... preferably all of them," I said to the old lady, who smiled at me and shook her head.

"Young man, I suggest you choose a nice one, such a huge bouquet can also look arrogant," she said and winked at me.

The old goat was right... Ryan had once told me how annoyed Catherine was with his shopping trip.

I handed her the rose, which she wrapped up nicely for me, and made my way to Ryan's pack.

The playground was very close to where we had built Catherine's house. It was deserted and now I had to wait....

I was so nervous oh God, Ilay... You're going to see her again.

It was incredible what Catherine did to me and Achira was right about that. I could never have replaced her... It was just impossible and I was grateful that Delilah had questioned it all and that Nael had taken the trouble to ask.

At that moment, I just felt stupid. Why the hell had I never checked my father's words? Why had I never looked for a solution? Delilah had shown me that nothing was impossible.

I had terrorised her for it and made her shoot her boyfriend... Damn you Ilay! What have you done? My whole body dropped a barrier in my mind that I had spent a year building.

The only thing that eased my conscience was the fact that Delilah now had Nael to take care of her.

Oh God, oh God, oh God... What had I done?

I was pacing up and down, restless. It was horrible how Catherine was affecting me, and what I had done, while the others were helping me, I had brought her to ruin.... No wonder Delilah wouldn't look me in the eye earlier. You can't just make up for something like that.

In the distance, I saw Ryan, Catherine and Henry walking. They looked happy, like a little family, and now I felt guilty... A year later, I did it again. I came into their lives and destroyed everything they had built up....

I thought about it, because Henry was already a year old and walking.... It wasn't just Catherine, Ryan and me, it was Catherine, Henry, Ryan and me.

The boy only knew mum and dad.... not me.

How was that going to be in the future? Hey Henry! You've got two dads seducing your mum, haven't you? I could bet that bullying at school was bound to happen, even if he was the alpha's son.

Everywhere I went, I was in trouble... Now I had to take a deep breath and wait and see. Maybe Catherine doesn't want me any more? What should I do then? After all, our bond had been broken when we broke up... You couldn't just weld a bond back together, could you? After all, Nael and Delilah weren't mates either, and yet they were more connected than ever...

There was no turning back now, I had to take the first step... Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
