Desire for you - ALPHA ILAY

Chapter 31

RYAN

The moment of truth had arrived, because here we were. Volterra, Italy.

Nael, Delilah, Kilian, Nair, Tristan, Micheal and I had made our way to Dimitri. It was a long way from the Silvestre pack, but with Nael's help we arrived quickly. These teleportations hurt me every time, at least Nael was gentler about it than Ilay, whereas Ilay made me hit hard every time.

Catherine had already texted me several times to ask me where I was. I had explained to her that we had been called to an extraordinary meeting in the Silvestre pack. They had a vampire problem and we were supposed to help. As Kilian had also been 'summoned', this aroused less suspicion. So we were able to carry out the mission without running the risk of her finding out.

RYAN: We're on the plane now, don't worry about me babe... I can sleep off my hangover on the plane. Michael was too good with the bourbon last night.

CATHERINE: I'm just worried about you, I didn't even hear you come into the room. Let me know when you get there.

RYAN: I will, we'll be home tomorrow at the latest.

Damn, how I hated having to lie to Catherine every time... Telling her the truth would have been much worse, because then she world have insisted on coming with me.

She would have fallen back into her old pattern and I didn't want to risk that. That would have been a disaster.

We followed Nair into the monastery-like building and it smelled as musty as last time. This place brought back a lot of memories and I still felt the oppressive feeling of guilt towards Julieth... Why did this woman have to be so damn kind-hearted?

I was beginning to wonder if Dimitri hadn't aired his home... Because it smelled of death and blood...

Just like last time, a vampire guard had intercepted us on the street and led us into the large hall where Dimitri was staying.

Dimitri sat on his throne with his head held high and smiled at us. "Welcome my friends! Nice to see you again Ryan! Ilay, what a pleasure! You've brought your company!" Dimitri jumped at us and I frowned.

Dimitri had been an old man the last time I'd seen him. After eating Julieth's heart, which we had to get for him so he could lead us to Ragnol, he suddenly became younger.

It turned out that every heart was an elixir of life for him and pure female hearts were rare. The fact that we had found one was pure luck... I still remember looking for a suitable nurse in the emergency ward and seeing Catherine in front of me.

Like Delilah, this nurse also had similar facial features.

Nicole... Oh yes, I still remember that very well today. I had injured myself and ran into A&E with a fake wound on my arm, while my wound healed every ten minutes, I had to find an excuse to leave again. Nicole persisted and insisted that I stayed there... Man, what a bollocking I got every time.

"The pleasure is all mine..." I said, looking at Nael, who said nothing and seemed to want Dimitri to think he was Ilay.

Nair stepped forward and looked at Dimitri: "We have come to speak with Ragnol... If you would please lead us to him," he said as Dimitri frowned at him.

"Well... If you tell me what you want from Ragnol, I'll be happy to do it," Dimitri said, staring at Delilah, Nael and me.

"It's about my connection to Catherine. We want to find out if my father lied," Nael said, looking at Dimitri.

"And this is Catherine?" he asked and stood up. He walked towards Delilah and looked her in the eye. "That can't be Catherine... Oh no, there's no way she's a wolf..." Dimitri stated.

"She's not either, that's Ilay's companion..." I said, frowning in confusion.

"Hmm, a demoness then... Hmm, hmm... Dear lady... Who is your mother?" Dimitri asked Delilah directly, ignoring us all.

Delilah looked at him in confusion. "My mum died many years ago, when I was six years old," she replied, confused.

Dimitri nodded in astonishment and looked at Nael, "Ilay".

"You've lived so long, Ilay..." he stepped closer and whispered something in his ear, whereupon Nael opened his eyes wide and said nothing.

He grabbed Delilah firmly by the arm and pulled her behind him.

"That's my condition," Dimitri said, looking at us with a smile.

I looked at Nael, who looked like he was about to explode. What could Dimitri ask of him? Delilah looked like a normal woman. What could Dimitri have seen in her?

"We have a deal, Dimitri...," Nair said, looking at him angrily.

"It would only be a drop of her blood, Ilay.... Come on, you want to go back to your mate.... Do it," Dimitri urged him once more, leaving us all in the dark.

Delilah looked at Nael worriedly "What does he want?" she whispered to him quietly.

"Forget it, he won't get it. We're leaving," Nael said angrily, clenching her hands into fists.

Good old Nael my arse, he wouldn't start a "war". It looked like he wanted to go for Dimitri's throat.

I wondered what he wanted. I had always known Nael to be a calm guy, but apparently one sentence was enough to set him off.

Delilah was a demon, yes, and vampires normally only drank human blood. Unless I knew better, even wolf blood was lethal to a vampire, but he had specifically said he wanted a drop of her blood.

"We won't back down now, we have to help him...", Delilah whispered to him so quietly that Dimitri couldn't hear from this distance.

Kilian looked at me just as confused and we all waited for an answer from Nael.

"Why doesn't he just give Dimitri what he wants?" Kilian asked, to which I shrugged my shoulders.

Suddenly Nael appeared in my thoughts. He had invaded our minds.

'If he gets Delilah's blood, he'll be able to come out into the light of day... That will lead to chaos. We can't let that happen,' Nael told us, leaving me open-mouthed.

'Delilah, isn't she a demon?" I asked him and he bit his lip.

'Yes... among other things, at least I thought she was ONLY a demon...' he replied curtly and it seemed like he didn't want to talk about it.

What was in Delilah's blood that gave a vampire this gift? It couldn't be...

I looked at Delilah for a brief moment.

"You're running out of time..." said Dimitri, looking bored at Nael.

"Do it Ilay, I'll be the only one who benefits. Nobody gets hurt..." he said and suddenly we noticed several vampires in the room. When the hell did they get in? These beasts were almost silent... It looked like we were outnumbered and the way they surrounded us, it didn't look like they were here in peace.

Nael had registered the whole situation and was still holding Delilah by the wrist "Over my dead body," he finally said as his eyes turned red and total chaos suddenly broke out here. Nael turned into his demon and a red mist enveloped us.

My boys and I turned into wolves and pounced on the vampires attacking us, while Nael pounced on Dimitri and a bloody fight ensued.

Both were bloody strong and I could see Delilah disappear from the picture. Her eyes were also red and she too had knocked out a few vampires, but she was nowhere near as strong as Nael.

Nael, on the other hand, dominated the fight and caused a veritable conflagration to spread.

'Find Ragnol! He shouted at me and I remembered the long staircase that led to Dimitri's prison.

I threw myself into the crowd and ran towards Delilah. I signalled her to jump on my back and I was on my way out of the hall.

I ran for my life while Delilah clung to me. I remembered the long tunnel well and jumped down several flights of stairs at once while the vampires followed us.

At the bottom, Delilah jumped off my back and stayed close to me while I tried to keep the vampires at bay.

Those damn beasts were nimble and fast, almost unpredictable, and I couldn't believe that it had all happened in a matter of seconds, just because of a drop of blood.

One drop of blood... Damn, if only one of them could have bitten Delilah... Then chaos would be inevitable in this world, if Dimitri's words were true.

I sank my teeth into the throat of a vampire and ripped the flesh out with full force, while Delilah set another vampire on fire, apparently surprised by herself.

The glare of the fire gave us a small head start and we ran towards the large gate. The vampires were blinded by the fire and covered their eyes.

I still remember the two huge guards. Mr Evil and Mr Devil, at least that's what they looked like. They were two metres tall and two metres wide. I'm talking about the guards, not the gate. They were both standing there to secure Ragnol's imprisonment.

They both lunged at me and one of them hit me full force in the shoulder.

The other lunged at me when I tried to bite him to get away from him. This was going to end badly. Delilah stood there with her eyes wide open, looking frozen. They were superior to me and even though I was an Alpha, that wasn't nearly enough to take them both on.

"DAMN IT, SLIDE ME A FIRE OR SOMETHING!" I screamed at them and managed to bite one of the vampires in the side. They were superior to me after all, if this went on my end was soon in sight and in all likelihood Catherine would bring me back to life afterwards just to kill me again for what I had done, after all I had lied. It had to be karma, at least that's what it felt like.

"DELILAH!", I screamed again and it took all my strength to partially transform back to speak to her.

"STOP STRESSING ME!" she suddenly screamed and what followed was abnormal.

The vampires and I slammed into the large gate as Delilah, glowing white, ran towards us.

Another wave of energy.

BOOM

The gate was flung into the air, crushing Mr Evil and Mr Devilish as I, open-mouthed and at a loss for words, stared at Delilah.

She marched past me to the next door and blew that up too.

Ragnol came out and looked at us with a broad grin.

"Finally, I thought you weren't coming at all, Alpha!" he said with a grin, pointing to his manacles. Bloody George Clooney.

I ripped them off and nodded at him: "We need to get out of here as quickly as possible," I said in a very serious tone.

Ragnol nodded, "You take the girl," he said and I looked at Delilah, who collapsed from weakness.

I turned again and put Delilah on my back while I ran up the stairs with Ragnol.

At the top, everything was devastated and Nael seemed to be going crazy: "WHERE IS DELILAH?" he shouted loudly, apparently unable to find her. He must have devastated everything in his rage, because it hardly looked like any of the vampires had survived, everything had gone up in flames.

"Michael's hurt, we have to get out of here fast!" shouted Tristan and the ceiling began to collapse.

We all looked irritatedly at Nael, who had spotted Delilah on my back and was running towards us.

Suddenly, he teleported us into the Silvestre pack, along with Ragnol.

We were all covered in blood and wounds.

"WE NEED HELP!" screamed Nair, who had transformed back and was trying to stop Michael's bleeding.

Several men and women of the Silvestre pack came rushing out and pure chaos ensued.

"Move aside," Ragnol demanded, running towards Michael. He began to whisper something and suddenly Michael's wounds healed as if by themselves.

I transformed too and just managed to take Delilah in my arms.

When we left Volterra, she seemed to have lost consciousness.

Damn.

Nael rushed towards me and practically snatched her out of my hands.

"What happened?" he asked impatiently, and I swear his look could have killed anyone who got in his way.

"When we got downstairs, there were these two huge vampires and she wanted to help me.... It was like waves, Thaifune, were catching us, that's how strong the force was, and now... I think she's unconscious", I'd never seen a force like that before, it was like a one-man army and it blew everything up at that moment.

Ragnol came over to us, "She'll be fine, she needs to rest," he said, looking back and forth between us.

"I was wondering how long it would take you, Alpha Ryan..." It was as if he was mocking us... Bloody sorcerer.

I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms in front of my chest.

"The next bomb is about to go off because of you, I can only hope you can deliver us something this time," I growled angrily at him as Ragnol shrugged his shoulders.

"We'll see," he replied, grinning at us.

I repeat, fucking wizard.
