Departure with a Belly Chapter 454
Chapter 454
Rainee and Leon, who had followed Bane in, looked at the scene before them in shock,
and the two exchanged a glance.
“How did this happen?”
Bane had already wrapped his arms around Victoria’s waist and picked her up from the
ground, his expression icy as he ordered, “Get a doctor here now.”
Although he had not a single clue as to what happened here, all of his emotions were
instantaneously taken over by worry the moment he saw her sprawled on the ground.
He did not feel anything other than concern, terrified that she was hurt.
Hence, his first reaction was to carry her and instruct Leon to call a doctor over. Then,
with Victoria in his arms, he carefully placed her on the soft and large bed.
While Leon left to look for a doctor, Rainee stayed behind. Then, she watched as Bane
carried Victoria to bed, and how tenderly he treated her, as if he were handling
something precious and fragile.
Her heart was filled to the brim with envy at the sight. In all the time she had known
Bane, she had never seen him treat a woman with this much care. What did this
woman do to deserve special treatment from him? Did he genuinely have feelings for her?

Thinking that, Rainee couldn’t help but raise her head to look at him, biting her lip as she
asked, “Bane, do you like her?”
However, it was as if Bane didn’t hear a single word she uttered, and he acted as if she
wasn’t even in the room. This angered Rainee; how could he pretend to not see her?
In the midst of her fury, she lashed out, “Bane, you must not trust this woman. She was
perfectly fine during the day, so why did she faint out of nowhere? Don’t fall for her lies.”
Most likely annoyed by her constant rambling, Bane finally lifted his gaze to shoot her
an impatient glance.
“Get out.”
His voice was icy and heartless, and Rainee’s face fell when she heard his tone.
“Are you chasing me out, Bane? It took a lot of effort for me to find the time to see you. I
don’t want to go.”
At that, she squeezed a few tears out of the corners of her eyes and said, “Don’t chase
me away, Bane, okay?”
Bane was planning to check if Victoria had any wounds on her, and when he lifted her
hair up and saw the injury on her forehead, his gaze immediately turned cold as he
asked icily, “Why is there a wound on her forehead?”

At that, Rainee jolted. Her previously haughty attitude instantly vanished, and she
became as silent as a quail, too afraid to say another word.
There’s a wound on her forehead? How? Is it when I pushed her? But, I didn’t even use
much strength, so why would her forehead be injured?

Although Rainee’s heart was drumming with fear, she did not voice it out loud. After all,
she had already agreed with Leon that neither of them would admit that it was their
doing.
At that thought, she replied in a small voice, “I’m not too sure about that. Maybe she
wanted to protest being locked up in the room?”
At first, Rainee was still attempting to accuse Victoria of playing hard to get with Bane,
but she was now forced to come up with a different excuse.
After Bane examined the wound on Victoria’s forehead and connected the dots with
what Rainee had said when he first entered, his eyes darkened. He suddenly lifted his
head and trained his cold gaze on her. “Did you do something to her?”
Rainee was immediately startled by the look in his eyes, stammering, “B–Bane, what are
you saying? How could I ever do anything to her? I only met her for a moment!”
Bane’s eyes were completely devoid of any warmth. “Do you think I don’t know what kind of person you are?”

“Bane, I…”
“Get out!”
Bane had always been as gentle as a lamb no matter the occasion, and he was the
textbook definition of a gentleman in Rainee’s eyes. Hence, his sudden change in
demeanor and his fierce tone as he talked to her completely frightened her. She froze in
place, staring at him in shock before she eventually regained her senses and ran out of
the room.
As she left, she coincidentally ran into Leon who had returned with a doctor. Upon
seeing her disheveled and hasty departure, he deduced that she hadn’t been able to
gain a favorable reaction from Bane, and he began to grow nervous as well.
After entering the room, he was too afraid to say anything unnecessary and only
reported the main point. “Mr. Morison, the doctor is here.”
“Come and take a look at where she’s hurt.”
The doctor hurried over to examine Victoria’s body, and upon seeing the wound on her
forehead, he hastily disinfected the wound and took care of it before saying, “It seems
like it’s been quite a while since she got this injury.”
Next to him, Bane’s eyes narrowed dangerously at his words, and the air around him turned icy.

Leon couldn’t stop the tremor that coursed through his body. He expected Bane to berate him, but instead, Bane only reminded the doctor to conduct a thorough
examination of Victoria before he turned his gaze toward him.
“What exactly happened?”

After hearing that, Leon immediately explained without any hesitation, “Mr. Morison, Mr.
Hudson did indeed send Miss Selwyn over as per your instructions. I was planning to
take her back to her room as well, but she insisted on seeing you… Hence, we stayed at
the door for a while, but Ms. Rainee showed up at this moment. She lost her temper
after seeing Miss Selwyn and said that she wanted to teach her a lesson on your behalf,
so they got into an argument.”
Bane quietly listened as he spoke, and it was only after he ended his speech that the
corners of Bane’s lips curled up as he let out a chortle.
“Got into… an argument?”
Leon nodded. “Yes, Mr. Morison.”
“Do you think I’ll believe that nonsense?”
When Victoria arrived, both her heart and soul were completely devoted to Alaric, and
there were only two people she was here to see–one was Alaric, and the other was
Bane himself. Moreover, Alaric was the reason why she wanted to meet him.

He understood her too well and knew that she would not allow herself to waste any of

her time, much less start an argument with someone else. Besides, the argument Leon
spoke of was most likely one–sided.
Seeing that he was unable to hide the truth from Bane, Leon hurriedly corrected
himself, “I made a mistake, Mr. Morison. The conflict was actually single–handedly
started by Ms. Rainee.”
“What did she do?”
“She pushed Miss Selwyn.”
Bane’s eyes widened.
“Miss Selwyn was unwilling to enter the room, so Ms. Rainee pushed her in and told me
to lock the door.”
At his words, things instantly became clear to Bane. In other words, Rainee had
suddenly pushed Victoria, and as the latter had not expected her to make a move at all,
she was completely caught off guard and failed to defend herself, falling to the ground
as a result, Then, Leon was instructed by Rainee to lock the door. Just from his
deductions alone, Bane was able to piece together what had happened then.
He turned to Leon, his eyes as cold as frost. “Did you see her fall?”

Leon stammered, “I…”
“You saw it, but you didn’t help her up, nor did you check if she was hurt. Am I right?”
“I apologize, Mr. Morison.”
After realizing his mistake, Leon, who was still acting like a big shot just a while ago,
could barely straighten his knees which had gone weak from fear.
