Kaia POV
"What does that mean, to save me?" She stares at me flabbergasted, perhaps she finally needs some home truths to be delivered to her.
Truths that I had never planned to share....never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sharing
them with her.
I turn to look up at Samson, his eyes haven't left Alora's once. As if she was going to pull a knife out at any second and lunge for me.
"Samson, I need you to leave."
"I'm staying!"
"Please Samson, and move the warriors away from the door!"
"Luna, your safety?" His eyes break away from Alora for the first time, looking directly at me. This would go against his role of temporary protector but I needed it to be just her and me. "I'll mind-link them if I need them. I'll be quite fine...trust me. Freya, I also need you to leave."
"I'm not sure..." She turns to her own Luna anxiously.
"It's fine Freya, I'll use the mind-link if I need you."
I wait for everyone to leave, for the warriors to leave their posts and for only myself and Alora to be the only ones in the Alpha house. I didn't need an audience for this.
There's no way to know how to begin a story of a traumatic time in your life, I can't strip it back or making- it shiny for her sake...I'll just have to be honest, to speak from my experience. From my heart.
With a deep breath in, I close my eyes and picture pack to the first time I saw Than. The untainted version
of him.
'I first met Than at college. I was alone, I didn't know anyone and that was what I wanted. I was meant to be hidden, I wasn't meant to stand out. But he found me and I couldn't fight the connection between us. He was warm...funny, caring and attentive. It didn't take long for him to tell me that he loved me. That he could feel the mate bond between us and that was all that mattered.

"I didn't accept his rejection because he was supposed to be my everything, and I his. Until I found out about you. Then I saw you..."
"You saw me?"
"I sneaked into the hospital one night. I needed to see for myself the woman that could outwit the Moon Goddess, steal another woman's mate...." I pause as Alora shifts uncomfortably in the chair. She can disagree with that all she wants but it's true.
"Then I saw you.....me...laying half dead on a hospital bed. I couldn't believe my eyes, what I was seeing. How was it possible...some kind of mix up." I think back on that moment when I found her covered in tubes and how different my life could have been if I had pulled out the plug.
"What did you do?"
"I wanted to leave...I spent time planning my escape. Than had said he needed a baby... that his parents were putting pressure on him to secure the future of the pack."
"A baby?" She abruptly stands up, running her hands through her hair before pulling at the ends.
"I overheard him one night talking to Beta Zane about what would happen if I did have a baby with him.. Than rejected any idea of waiting for you to wake up to have a child...his plan was to use me as an organ donor to save you. That he would have any child that was his and raise it without me, because I wouldn't
be there."
"Wouldn't be there?"
"I would be dead Alora, he would use me as an unwilling donor to save you."
"No...no I refuse to believe this...lies!" She shouts out at me, covering her ears.
"Luna?" A warrior pushes on my mind-link from her sudden shouting.
"I'm fine...hold back."
"Then why did you stay? Why not run...."
"I was a prisoner Alora, my every move watched. I spent most days alone...I didn't leave until 2 months later. Which I know now was too long."
"Why did you leave then?"
"Because...I found out I was pregnant."
