Defeating My Ex-Husband by Tracy Estrada ( Colton Zeller )

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 The Scandal

“What’s the deal with that scandal?” Phillip looked at Colton with a stern expression. Colton was puzzled. “What scandal?” Watching his grandson being so blithe, Phillip became increasingly frustrated and threw a phone at him, exclaiming, “Take a good look!” Colton took the phone and casually glanced at it. The screen showed a Twitter post with a trending headline: Golden Globe Awards Best Actress Elsa Larson’s Mysterious Boyfriend Appears, It’s Actually Him? The picture attached to the Twitter post was taken when he had gone out to eat with Elsa a couple of days ago. The paparazzi chose a sneaky angle, making it look as though they were passionately kissing. In reality, he was lending his arm for support. Tsk. Colton’s face turned cold as he calmly explained to Phillip, “It’s just the reporters writing nonsense.” “Since it’s just nonsense, have someone remove it right away,” Phillip said impatiently. “You’ve caused such a mess. What about Fran and the Beckman family’s reputation?” Upon hearing this, Colton thought that Francesca had called to complain, and his face darkened a little. “What does this have to do with her?” “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking!” Colton’s actions reignited the anger that had initially faded within Phillip, prompting the latter to angrily hurl his cup at him. Colton effortlessly dodged it, and the cup shattered into pieces on the ground. Phillip said angrily, “As long as I’m alive, that Larson girl will never marry into the Zeller family! Don’t be foolish enough to follow in your father’s footsteps.” The mention of his own father finally drew a reaction from Colton. He glanced at his grandfather and said, “I understand.” Phillip’s expression finally eased a bit. After discussing some other matters, Colton left the study. After leaving the study, Colton frowned and called his assistant. “Take down the Twitter headline.” After hanging up the phone, he drove back to the mansion where he had last seen Francesca, feeling irritated all over. Upon entering the mansion, he immediately saw a woman in a white dress facing away from him. Colton didn’t realize that the anxiety in his heart had subsided a bit. Instead, he remarked sarcastically, “Why are you still here?” Didn’t we sign a divorce agreement? Who are you trying to impress with that tough attitude? Just then, the woman suddenly turned her head, her face full of joy as she approached him. “Colt, you’re back?” “It’s you?” Colton’s expression darkened as he hadn’t expected that the one rushing toward him would turn out to be Elsa, adorned in Francesca’s dress. The white, sleeveless dress didn’t quite fit Elsa, generously revealing her curves. She seemed oblivious to her ill-fitting outfit as she embraced Colton. “What’s wrong? Didn’t you miss me?” Elsa looked at Colton with her enchanting eyes, her fingers slowly drawing circles on the back of his neck. Colton caught a whiff of the faint fragrance emanating from her body and furrowed his brows, demanding, “Why are you wearing Francesca’s dress?” Elsa’s smile stiffened, and she whined, “I accidentally spilled coffee when I came in, so I just borrowed a piece of her clothing. She wouldn’t be so petty about it, would she?” Watching Elsa in Francesca’s white dress filled Colton with a sense of restlessness. He decided to change the subject and asked, “Where is she?” Once, he had accidentally brought home one of Elsa’s lipsticks, and Francesca had made a huge fuss about it, even mentioning the incident to Phillip. How could she easily let Elsa wear her clothes this time?
