Chapter 29
Chapter 29 Nothing To Do with You
Before Colton could continue, Timothy, who was standing behind him, took the initiative to step forward. “How about I take him to the hospital first? Ms. Beckman must be frightened after what happened. She should go back and rest.”
His gaze subtly shifted toward Colton.
After getting off the plane, Colton had immediately rushed over upon coming across the figure of Francesca in a friend’s social media post about a dinner gathering with the members of the chamber of commerce.
Fortunately, they arrived just in time. Who could have known that Stephen would be so audacious?
Seeing the bloodstains on Marcus‘ clothes, Francesca agreed without much hesitation.
As she nodded, Timothy swiftly helped Marcus into the car and sped away.
Marcus wasn’t even able to say goodbye to Francesca.
Francesca shot a glance at the silent Colton before taking out her phone to call a taxi for herself.
To her surprise, Colton suddenly grabbed her wrist. “What’s the matter? You dare to attend those messy dinners, but don’t dare to ride in my car?”
Francesca glared at him. “What messy dinners? I just attended the dinner meeting like anyone else. I didn’t do anything wrong!”
Of course, Colton knew that. But every time he thought about the scene. he saw when he pushed the door open, a surge of anxiety welled up in his heart.

His tone was icy cold, “Do you know what would have happened earlier if I didn’t come?”
“Maybe you didn’t see it, but Stephen had already collapsed earlier, and I was about to call the police,” Francesca retorted with a glare, unwilling to back down.
The situation earlier was indeed chaotic, but Francesca was confident that she wouldn’t be taken advantage of
Not wanting to argue with her on the street, Colton quickly opened the car door and said, “Get in.”
When she still wouldn’t move, he nonchalantly said, “You’re not getting in? Don’t you want the Beckman family’s things?”
During the years she spent in the Shelley family, what Francesca learned the most was to never give up on what she deserved because of a momentary spur of emotions.
She took a deep breath and stepped forward to open the car door.
“Where is your apartment? I’ll take you home.”
Colton glanced at Francesca and asked softly.
Francesca’s heart skipped a beat; she absolutely wouldn’t allow Colton to go to her apartment. “No need. I don’t want anyone to take any more photos of me.”
Colton’s face darkened slightly at her words. Silently, he drove Francesca to a single–story house that he owned nearby.
Francesca hesitated and didn’t get out of the car. Putting aside everything else, she genuinely didn’t want to get involved with Colton again.

Noticing her behavior, Colton bent down and rested his hand on the car door. “This is still your apartment. Choose one.”
His deep gaze fell upon Francesca’s face, and the woody, masculine scent from his body instantly filled her nostrils, almost enveloping her entirely. It made her feel extremely uneasy.
She pursed her lips and said, “Let’s go.”
The two of them entered the door one after the other.
Colton’s houses were always decorated in the same style–simple, elegant, yet lacking a personal touch.
The only exception was probably the villa in Peony Bay, as it was a place. that Francesca had spent three years meticulously crafting. It was filled with her longing and fantasies for a home.
Lowering her eyelids, Francesca smiled mockingly. I would probably never set foot in that place again in my lifetime.
At this moment, Colton came over with a medical kit in hand. When he saw Francesca deep in thought, he asked, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing.” Francesca quickly composed herself and looked up at him. “Since I’m already here, can you give me the things, Mr. Zeller?”
Colton neither agreed nor disagreed. He placed the medical kit in front of her and said, “Apply the medicine yourself.”
Following his gaze to the back of her hand, Francesca only then realized that she had unknowingly gotten some scratches, from which faint traces of blood were seeping out.
She didn’t say much more and took out some band–aids before applying them casually. “Is this enough?”

Colton frowned. “I remember you used to make a fuss even over a small wound. You’re not scared anymore?”
Make a fuss over a small wound?
Francesca couldn’t remember ever making a fuss in front of Colton because of a small wound. •
Seeing that she couldn’t recall, Colton reminded, “During Charles‘ birthday party.”
After pondering for a long time, Francesca finally remembered what had happened.
It was probably during the first year of their marriage when Francesca encountered a car accident on the road. Not only was her right ankle fractured, but there was also a long gash across her leg.
In her panic, Francesca called Colton, but it was Elsa who answered the phone. After listening to her, Elsa informed her that Colton was too busy and asked her to go to the hospital by herself.
It wasn’t after Francesca bore the pain and had her wounds treated at the hospital that she saw Elsa’s Instagram post. Charles was blowing out the candles, while Colton stood next to Elsa, chatting with her.
The smiles on their faces were genuine.
Francesca kicked up a fuss with Colton afterward, but she didn’t expect it to leave such an impression on him.
The past was unbearable to recall.
The sarcasm on Francesca’s face was obvious as she uttered, “If you think. an ankle fracture that requires twenty stitches is a ‘small wound,‘ then my wound was indeed quite small.”

“What?” Colton frowned and looked at Francesca. A fracture that required stitches? Wasn’t it just a small cut from a knife?
He wanted to ask more, but Francesca seemed to have no intention of continuing the conversation.
She leaned back on the couch and said, “Mr. Zeller, when are you going to give me the things? Are you planning to let me stay overnight here?”
Colton keenly noticed that after the incident was mentioned, Francesca’s attitude toward him suddenly became much colder.
He didn’t say much more and brought over a stack of documents. “Over the years, the Beckman family has obtained quite a few projects and funds from the Zeller family. I won’t go into the projects, but every single sum of funds was documented.”
Colton was no fool. Over the years, he documented all the money that the Beckman family took from him as loans. It was just that the Beckman family thought they didn’t have to pay it back.
Francesca glanced at those documents and couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised.
In just a few short years, the Beckman family had astonishingly “borrowed” nearly two hundred million from Colton.
No wonder Colton despised her so much. To the Zeller family, the Beckman family was like a disgusting leech.
“Mr. Zeller, are you really willing to give me these things?” Francesca covered the documents and raised an eyebrow at Colton.
Even though Colton was never short of money, this was still two hundred million.

Colton didn’t even lift an eyelid. “Didn’t you say you wanted compensation? I’m giving all of them to you.”
Francesca gracefully agreed, “Indeed, you’re very generous. Rest assured, the video on my phone will not be leaked. I wish you and Mrs. Zeller a long and happy life together.”
For some reason, Colton found the words “Mrs. Zeller” particularly grating to his ears when they came from Francesca.
Francesca had already stood up, ready to leave. Almost instinctively, Colton stopped her.
“Is there anything else, Mr. Zeller?”
Francesca looked at Colton with confusion. Is he regretting his decision?
Colton stood up and approached Francesca, saying, “You can’t get engaged to Yoel. The Zabielski family won’t accept you.”
“There’s no need for you to worry about my relationship with Yoel.” Francesca’s expression suddenly turned frosty. She tried to walk away from Colton, but he grabbed her wrist. “Yoel has always been a player; he’s not right for you.”
Francesca stopped in her tracks and looked at Colton with a half–smile. “Mr. Zeller, have you forgotten? We’ve already divorced long ago.”
