Chapter 51
(Viva)
I can't believe Dave and Heather have stooped this low..for Heather to kick her own daughter out..it's disgusting and I feel like I don't even know her anymore.
Heather and I had been best friends since our freshman year in high school. I felt like the moment I saw her, we just clicked.
Dave and I both knew what was going to happen by our senior year of high school..but what I didn't know is that he had been seeing Heather the entire time secretly.
Then when our parents made us announce our engagement..she begged me not to go through with it.
This is where things get really f****d up..I was going to end the engagement..my dad wasn't going to force me..but I had fallen in love with Dave..and the fact that this would make our families flourish even more..it felt right to me.
But I told him I wouldn't go through with it. I told him if he wanted to be with Heather that I would support them..but no, he chose me. He told me he would leave Heather and be with me.
What a f*****g liar..he has played all of us..and I don't give a s**t that he screwed me over and had been sleeping with Heather the whole time..no..I am pissed off because he messed with MY kids..
Nobody messes with my children..and now that we have physical proof of their affair, I can finally get my revenge. You see..Dave's family had me sign a prenuptial agreement..so that meant I wouldn't be able to own any shares of Kings Corporation, considering it was founded long before we were married. But..somewhere in that fine print that my family requested..the prenuptial agreement would be invalid if proof of Adultery could be presented.
That is why Dave didn't want anyone to know about Ben..the poor kid.. Heather only got with Neal to make Dave jealous.
I remember when they started dating..she acted like she was so in love..but really it was all an act.. Our whole relationship has been an act..and damn is she a good actress. She fooled me so many times..and once Dave told me he was going back with Heather..I was more hurt that she kept it from me than anything. I really thought we moved on from this. I pressed the phone to my ear as I heard the line ringing before leaning up against my kitchen counter. The kids had just gone to get Johnnie's stuff so I had a little bit of time to handle some business.
"Mr. Tomlinson's office." A woman answered and I quickly told her my name before being put on hold.
"Viva King, what do I owe the pleasure?" Henry answered, his deep voice putting a smile on my face as I pushed off the counter and began walking to my office.
"Henry, I wasn't sure if you would take my call." I teased, knowing he and Dave were close..well, they used to be. That's why I'm calling him..
Henry was a lawyer and used to work for Dave privately..and then they had some type of falling out a few years back..Dave never told me why, but I think I know now.
'Of course I would Viva..just because I don't work for your husband anymore, doesn't mean we can't talk." He stated.
"Ex husband." I informed him..yeah, we managed to keep it out of the press. That's what money does for you..it makes things go away.
People close to us knew, but other than that, it stayed pretty well hidden so it didn't make Mr. King look like the scumbag he is.
"Really now..so you finally left the a*****e huh? Good.." Henry stated, the humor in his voice not going unnoticed.
"If only it happened that way..actually.. it turned out he was having an affair the entire time...with Heather." I said, making the line grow quiet.
"But you already knew that, didn't you Henry?" I asked, causing him to let our a deep sigh.
"Viva.."
"Don't worry, there are no hard feelings..I suspected but never had any proof..they were pretty good at hiding it..in fact, it almost felt like they might've had some help." I said cooly, remember all those times Dave and Henry went on those "boys" trips.. "Why are you calling Viva?" Henry asked firmly, losing that humor now.
"Well, as you know, Dave had me sign a prenup.." I stated.
"Yeah..but considering you already divorced..and there is no concrete proof." He began, making me nod to myself.
"Yes..but..let's say there was proof..living breathing proof..a son." I whispered, making Henry grow silent once more as I could feel the wheels turning.
“That f*****g bastard. I knew it!!" He yelled, making me let out a laugh.
"Listen Viv..I didn't know he was using me as an excuse at first...and after you called that one time..that's when I started cutting ties with him. What he did to you wasn't right.." He began and my heart began to ache...Henry and his late wife Liz used to be good friends..after she passed from cancer, well, I thought Henry and I were close.
"I know Hen..you were going through a lot too." I whispered, making the line grow quiet once more.
"So..what do you say? Do you want to help me take down this a*****e? Will you represent me Henry?" I asked, making him think about it for a few moments.
"It could get ugly Viva, for the boys I mean..airing all of this out." He said and I let out a shuddering breath. "They're the reason I'm doing this..they deserve to have a secure future..one that their father can't use to manipulate them. My boys are my world Henry, you know this..and I won't let Dave King run off with his mistress and come out on top again..I want to see him burn..I want them both to burn.." I stated emphatically, meaning every word as I was ready for Dave to finally pay for his wrongdoings. And Heather..let's see if she stays with him when he has nothing left..
"Okay, Viva, first we need to conduct a paternity test. We will need a DNA sample from Dave..which I doubt he will give willingly...or..
"What?"
"Or we can start with testing one of the boys, if they are related then we know they share a parent."
"Okay, Alder will be more than willing. Dave confirmed it himself though..and I always suspected something just from the way he treated him." I explained.
"Yeah, but who knows if Heather is lying." Henry grumbled and I couldn't help but agree..she could have lied about it, but I just know deep down it has to be the truth.
"Okay, I will send over the information about where you need to start and we will go from there.. We should probably meet up for dinner too..you know, just to go over any other evidence you might have." He added before clearing his throat. "Henry Tomlinson..are you asking me out on a date?" I teased, causing him to become flustered before the line went silent once more.
"If that's what you want to call it, then yes Viva, I'm asking you on a date." He finally retorted as I felt my cheeks aching from how much I was smiling.
"Okay, well, send over what I need and I guess I will see you at 7 on Friday, at our usual place." And with that, I hung up.
Back before everything happened we would always double date at the Japanese restaurant downtown, it was Liz and I's favorite spot. I guess we are doing this..
Henry Tomlinson, hmm, didn't see things taking that turn...I'm glad I trusted my gut because I think I called the right lawyer.
