Chapter 8

Clare's voice came from outside.

"Anika, are you awake? I made your favorite breakfast.

Time to get up and have breakfast."

Clare's words slowly brought Anika back to her senses.

Anika remembered leaving Rafter Villa,going to the hospital, and then coming here to visit Clare.

Anika knocked her head with her fist,feeling a bit anxious. When did her memory become so bad? As she tried to get out of bed, she spotted a large bloodstain on the bedsheet.

Anika touched her right ear and felt something sticky.

She spread her hand and saw it covered in blood...

Her hearing aid was stained red too....

Panicked, Anika quickly used a tissue to clean her ear and then hurriedly took the bedsheet out.

When Clare saw Anika washing the bedsheet on the balcony, Clare was puzzled.

"What happened? Clare asked,

"I got my period and accidentally stained the bedsheet,"

Anika explained with a smile.

After washing up,Anika had breakfast with Clare, enjoying a moment of peace.

Clare's voice sometimes sounded clear, and sometimes muffled.

Anika was so afraid that she would never hear this voice again.

She was also worried about how Clare would feel when Clare found out about it.

After spending half the day there, Anika secretly left some of her savings on the bedside table and then bid farewell to Clare.

Joshua hung up the phone without waiting for Clare's response

Anika was on the train back to Oasisville

Het phone vibrated and the checked it only to find a new message from Joshua.

"You said you want a divorce right ?See you tomorrow morning at tent

Anika stared at the message and was lost in thought for a moment before replying. "Okay

Just one word nothing else.

Joshua found that word upsetting.

Good Let's see how long you can pretend."

Joshua was in no mood for work.

So, Joshua called some friends to go for a drink.

They met at a club.

Violet also came

"Let's all get drunk tonight."

Valentin sat next to Joshua and asked about Anika, How is she today?"

Joshua raised an eyebrow slightly.

"We don't have to talk about her again in the future.

Tomorrow, we'll proceed with the divorce."

On the way, Joshua checked his phone many times.

He thought Anika might message him.

Sadly Anika didn't.

Joshua reached the Rafter Villa,only to find it dark.

Pulling a long face, Joshua opened the door,turned on the lights, and didn't see Anika.

Anika hadn't come home...

The house was the same as how Anika had left it.

The clothes that Joshua had put by the washing machine were still there. Unlike in the past, they hadn't

been washed or hung up.

Joshua irritably walked over and threw the clothes into the trash can.

The after-effects of the drinks were strong, and Joshua felt terrible as he sat on the sofa. When he fell

asleep, he had a nightmare.

In the dream,Anika was covered in blood, but she smiled and said, Joshua,I don't love you anymore."

Joshua woke up in shock, and it was just dawn outside.

Joshua pinched his brow,washed up, and changed into a neat suit. When it was about time, he set off to where he and Anika had agreed to meet for the divorce.
