RACE OF MEN

Alexar- (alex’-ar) Personal servant to Princess Mirtar

Alistal- ( a list’ al) Borrial’s envoy to Maruusaal king of the Goblins.

Artermadel- (are term’ a dell) First King of Artermador

Baccal- (Back’ -cal) Alias used by Vistyral when he travels incognito.

Baron Memdrel- (mem drell’) Baron in Cryarlac and father to Chertal

Bartel- (bar’ –tell) cousin to Alistal and a Sargent in Cryarlac’s Army.

Benjaminal (ben’ jam in al)Chamberlin at Stronghold

Benkar- (ben’ -car) Duchess of Vermillion

Bermal- (ber’ -mall) Fleet Captain of the Artermadorian Navy and Captain of the flagship The Queen’s Way

Bestemal- (best -tem -mall’) Candidate for apprenticeship in the magician’s guild.

Borrial- (bore’ -ree -all) Crown Prince of Karrondor

later its king.

Canthar- (ban’ -thar) Cousin to Lemmal, his mother’s brother is her father.

Cathermar- (Cath’ ur mar) First Queen of Cathermania. Cathermania has always had a queen as its ruler anong with a prince Consort as her husband.

Carmak- car mack’) An elven wizard that lived among men who had taught Koripak as a child.

Carmental- (car -men’ -tall) Third son but fourth child to Krakal. Because he was a son, his claim to the throne is superior to his older sister Lymar. He presently is first officer in a ship in the Fulsimterian Navy

Chertal- (Chur’-tall) Man-at-Arms and best friend to Duke Vistyral.

Corintel- (Core -in -tell’) Chamberlain to Krakal and later Lemmal.

Cryarlal- First king of Cryarlac. His kingdom joined with Karrondor during the first war of the races. It became a duchy of Karrondor to keep from being overwhelmed by the forces of Drathmire.

Delimal- (deli mall’) Oldest son of Merkreel

Dendrel- (den drell’) Captain of the guard at Myra castle in Artermador

Duke Caronel- (Car -ron’ -nel) Duke of Vermillion Duchy and leader of the Western Army of Karron. Both Veremel and Vistyral

are his superior officers he is a good leader but lacks imagination.

Duke Filmel- (fill’ mell) See Filmel below

Duke Foroostal- (For -roost’ tall) Duke of the Meadowlands. In battle he commands the reserve troops of Karron; because Karron is within the borders of Meadowlands. Most kings prefer to control the army that surrounds them. Soldiers from his duchy mostly become the King’s Guard, the Palace guard; or become part of the Central army.

Duke Lapsel- (Lap’ sell) Duke of Landsend Duchy and leader of the Southern Militia. There is no southern army because many of those who live in Landsend are Magicians, or they fall under the protection of the Magician’s guild. Duke Lapsel is the most junior Duke in military matters and third in economic matters.

Duke Veremel- (Very -mel) Duke of Landsdown Duchy and Leader of the Central army of Karron. It rankles him that Vistyral was granted the title, Guardian of the East, and promoted above him in rank. In addition Landsdown and Meadowlands both were recently passed by Cryarlac as the most important Duchy economically, and recently Landsdown was surpassed in economic matters by Landsend, mostly because Landsend does not support an army.

Duke Vantel (Van tell’) of Saffron Kingdom of Westonisia He was the third son of their father and was succeeded by Prince Maltapel until Maltapel was charged for Regiside.

Fairimar- (Fair e mar’) Third daughter of Duke Foroostal; later married to Alistal and went with him into the Bermaldine Wastelands to start a holding for King Vistyral.

Farmorel- (Far’ -more -el) Chamberlain to Montrosal.

Ferthak- (Fur’ -thack) Current Head of the Magician’s Guild elected for life by guild members.

Filmel- (fill’ mell) Was born a son of Krakal but was later proven to be a son of Merkreel was disinherited as a son of Krakal and made heir to Merkreel. He became the Duke of Frother

Flendel- (Flen dell’)Second oldest brother to Maltal, older brother to Vantel and father to Maltapel who was named after his father.

Floridel- (Flori dell’) Son of Starkel and father to Westonel, Artermadel, Westonar, Cathermar, and Cryarlal

Fredrical- (Fred Reek’ al) Borrial’s assassin

Friends of the Guardians- A group of zealous vigilantes Sanctioned and supported by the Guardians. In an emergency the bells at the temple ring eight times. The Friends of the Guardians are responsible to seal off an area around the Temple and allow no one in or out of the area until they receive orders from the Guardians.

Fulsimtel- (full’ sim tell) First King of Fulsimter

Gameel- (Game’ eel) one of the friends of the guardians in Flageron that Vistyral tricked into helping him escape.

Guardians of Karron- Soldiers commissioned by the High Priest of Karron. It is their duty to protect the Temples of Karron from being desecrated. They have been used illegally by the Priests of Karron as a private police force. The number of guardians per temple is dependent upon the size of the Temple but it usually runs from eight to forty-eight.

Henrel- (Hen’ rell) Valet to Montrosal and his wife, Marshar was the queen’s maid.

Judar- (jude’ are) Chief Judge in Artermador

Kalamel- (Cal’ -la -mell) Duke of Maltar in the Kingdom of Westonisia.

Kaymar- (Kay’ -mar) Younger sister to Borrial and Vistyral.

Koripak- (Corey’ -pack) Grand Master Wizard in Great Cliffs.

Krakal- (Crack’-all) King of Fulsimter who died in a hunting accident.

Krakowal- Father of Krakal who forged a peace treaty with Karrondor. The Krakowal river was named after him, previously it had been named the River of Karron

Karrondar- First queen of Karrondor.

Kremoral- (Cree -more’ -all) Second son of Krakal and second in line for the throne.

Lamercal- (Lay’-mer -call) King of Karrondor.

Landsdar- (Lands’ dar) First queen of Landsdown. It was later invaded by Karrondor and became a duchy.

Landsdel- (lands dell’) First king of Landsend. After Cryarlac and Landsdown became part of Karrondor, the king of Karrondor offered the widowed queen of Landsdown the option of marrying him and becoming part of his kingdom or a war. She chose to join his kingdom and made her son of her first marriage duke of Landsend.

Larkar- (lark’ –are) She becomes the wife of Viental.

Lehandel- (Lee -han’ -dle) Lamercal’s Father who negotiated peace with Fulsimter he also renamed the Karron River to the Krakowal river in honor of Krakowal, King of Fulsimter and Krakal’s father.

Lemmal- (Lem’ -mal) Crown Prince of Fulsimter who became king after the untimely death of his father, Krackal.

Lymar- (Lay’-Mar) Princess of Fulsimter who will do anything to become a queen.

Lymeel- (Lime’ eel) Brother to Lymar and fifth in line for the throne of Fulsimter.

Maltal- (Malt’ -all) King of Westonisia incapacitated from a stroke.

Maltapel- (Malt’ -a -pell) Prince Regent of Westonisia ruling for his father.

Mastral- (Mast’-rall) Deceased Duke of Cryarlac.

Marimar- (Mary -mar) Duchess of Landsdown

Marielmak- (Mary -ell -mack’) Apprentice to Tantak.

Marshak- (Mar’ -shack) First Master Sorcerer to be able to master not only Spiritual magic and Physical magic which is the domain of man but also mastered Elven Elemental Magic.

Marshal- (Mar’ -shall) Apprentice to Koripak- he became the Sorcerer Marshak.

Marshar- (Mar’ shar) Maid to Queen Vertimar and wife to king Montrosal’s Valet Henrel.

Marterlak- (Mar -tur’ -lack) Keeper of the spells of the magician’s guild.

Mendrel- Became captain of the king’s guard after Borrial became king of Karrondor.

Mentel- (Men –tell’) Palace Guard from Great Cliffs and childhood friend to Marshal who became Vistyral’s bodyguard.

Merkreel- (Mer –creel’) Brother to Krakel and his Chief Advisor

Mirtar- (Mir-tar’) Princess from kingdom of Artermador promised to Borrial.

Montrosal- (Mon -Tro’ sal) King of Artermador.

Mon Treel- (Mon Treel’) High Priest to the Gods of Karron.

Mon Grael- (Mon Gray -ell) Former High Priest to the Gods of Karron.

Morientel- (More -en -tell’) Fourth son and fifth child to Krakal. He was fourth in line to the throne and an avid huntsman.

Myrtar- Daughter of Rolandel and mother of Westonel, Artermadel, Westonar, Cathermar, and Cryarlal. Mirtar was named after her even though it was spelled differently

Neartar- (Near’ tar) Female Servant sent by assassins to kill Vertimar Queen of Artermador. She was successful in killing the king and queen. She was not a willing participant but did what she did to save her daughter who was being held by Borrial’s agents. Both she and her daughter were killed after she had murdered Montrosal and Vertimar

Ontel- (One of Bermal’s teachers in the Naval Academy who encouraged him to develop a new type of naval vessel and current admiral of the Artermadorian Navy

Pa Charal- (Pay’ Char’ -all) Priest that receives Borrial’s daily confession.

Pa Kerial- (Pay’ carry’ -all) Priest that receives Vistyral’s confession

Pa Cromiel- (Pay’ Chrom’ -ee -ell) Priest that receives Lamercal’s confession (when he gives it).

Pa Vernal- (Pay’ -Vern -al) Priest of Karron in Flageran, Having an affair with Varestar for the purpose of obtaining political information from her which he shares with Mon Treel for his favors in the priesthood.

Pental- (pen tall’) father of, Fulsimtel, Karrondar, Landsdel and Landsdar (twins)

Phertel- (Fer tel’) A member of the Guardians of Karron

Plentral- (Plen’ trall) Captain of the army of Cryarlac

Pottel- (pot tell’) General of Nordlund army invading Westonisia.

Princess Flaviar- A princess from Fulsimter 300 years ago who was the first woman to ask a man to marry her publicly.

Respel- (Res -pell’) Chamberlain to Lamercal and after he died, for Borrial

Ricaral- (Ree -car -rall’) Candidate for apprenticeship in the magician’s guild from Artermador.

Rolandal- (roll and’ all) Father of Pental and grandfather of Fulsimtel, Karrondar, Westonel, Artermadel, Westonar, Cathermar, Landsdel and Landsdar (twins), and Cryarlal

Shandar- (Shan’ dar) queen of Cathermania

Starkel- Star’ kell) Father of Tremmar and grandfather of Fulsimtel, Karrondar, Westonel, Artermadel, Westonar, Cathermar, Landsdel and Landsdar (twins), and Cryarlal

Sterpal- (Stir’-pull) Candidate for apprenticeship in magician’s guild. He has been tested every year for nineteen years and failed.

Tantak- (Tan’-tack) Sentry of the Test at the magician’s guild in Landsend.

Tekak- (Tea –kack’) Court Sorcerer to Queen Shandar.

Thorak- (Thor’-ack) Court Sorcerer to King Lamercal.

Toverak- (Toe’ -ver-ack)Wife of Marshak and Joint Sorcerer to Mirtar and Vistyral.

Toverar- (Toe’ -ver-ar) Candidate for apprenticeship in the magician’s guild. She later became Toverak and married Marshak.

Tremmar- Daughter Starkel and mother of Fulsimtel, Karrondar, Westonel, Artermadel, Westonar, Cathermar, Landsdel and Landsdar (twins), and Cryarlal

Vermountel- (Ver -moun -tel’) Cadot Stonpiker’s Name after he was exiled from the Dwarves. He chose the name to remind him of the Vermath Mountains where the Dwarves live.

Vertimar- (Ver -tea’ mar) Queen of Artermador.

Victorial- (Vic tor’ eeal) Palace Guard from Meadowlands who became Vistyral’s bodyguard.

Varestar- (Very -star’) Duchess of the Meadowlands having an affair with Pa Vernal.

Veritak- (Very -tack’) Friend, Counselor, and Sorcerer to Montrosal.

Viental- (Vee -en’ -tall) Captain of the King’s Guard in Karrondor

Vientak- (Vee –en –tack’) Court sorcerer to Borrial

Viental- (Vee’ –Intel) Captain of the kings guard under Lamercal and then Arms master for Borrial until he retired from service and went to Cryarlac to work for Vistyral.

Vientar- (Vee -en -tar’) Candidate for apprenticeship in the magician’s guild. She later became Vientak.

Vistyral- (vis -tie’ -rall) Duke of Cryarlac and younger twin to Borrial

Xeral- (zee’ rall) Guard murdered during the assassination of the king and queen of Artermador

Xerusal- (zee rush’ all) King of Verdan.

Zethmar- (zeth’ mar) Maid to Vertimar Queen of Artermador

RACE OF ELVES

Airamist- (air -a -mist’) Twin son born to Rockledge and Briancha who was kidnapped at two months old.

Arborly- (are’ -bore -ly) Man-at-Arms to Rockledge.

Belastar- (bella’-star) Wife of Forkloor who was assaulted by Brancil and now carried a Felkard child within her.

Brancil- (bran’ -sill) First Elf to commit murder in over 1000 years because he suffers from Felkarditis.

Briancha- (bree’ –an –cha) Wife of Rockledge and mother to kidnapped twins Aramist and Windmor.

Brooker- (brook’ -er) Member of Council of Twelve, and wife to Medowlin.

Canthree- (can’ -three) Personal Guard to Landif.

Dalelea- (dale’ lee) Mother of Landif, former queen, and senior council member

Felkards- Elves who through the use of Drachlomancy are changed into lawless brutish creatures.

Flor- (floor’) Daughter of Glade who fell in love with Chertal.

Flora- (floor’ a) Female Elf Sorceress.

Forkloor- (fork’ -lore) First Elf murdered by an Elf in over one thousand generations.

Graslina- (grass’ lee -na) Wholeness partner and wife to Arborly.

Glade- (glade) Male Elf, Member of High Council hostile to Landif.

Hectak- (heck’ -tack) Sorcerer-Priest who healed Hillsofar and married the daughter born to Hillsofar and Pondelilly after Hillsofar was healed.

Hedgemon- (hedge mon) Court magician for Landif

Hilldif- (hill’ –diff) Father of Landif former king of Elves

Hillsofar- (hill’ -so -far) Ancient Elven King.

Landif- (land’-if) King of the Elves.

Lakewell- (lake’ -well) Male Elf, member of Elven High Council.

Leavara- (leave -are -ra’) Female Elf, Senior Member of Elven High Council.

Meadowlea- (me’ -dow -lee) Elven name given to Vistyral.

Medowlin- (mea’-dow -line) Senior member of Council of Twelve.

Meadowin- (me’ -dow -in) Elven name given to Chertal.

Oaker- (oak’ er) A student of necromancy of Brancil’s who re-animated his body so he could assassinate King Landif. Brancil’

Pastoral- (pas’ -tor –al) Wife of Landif and current Queen of the Elves.

Pondelilly- (pond’ -a -lily) Hillsofar’s Queen.

Rockledge- (rock’ -ledge) Prince of Lost Elves who had long ago disappeared into the Bermaldine Wastelands.

Valedif- (vale’ -diff) Cousin to Landif and Captain of the Hosts of Arborlea.

Vegas- (vay’ –gas) Wife to Glade and mother to Flor.

Vining- (vine ing) Elven priest of the Gods of Karron.

Windmor- (wind’ -more) Twin daughter born to Rockledge & Briancha who was kidnapped at two months old.

RACE OF Dwarves

Cadot Stonpiker- (kay’ -dot Stone’-Picker) Chief of the Dwarves.

Irnmekre- (iron -maker) Sronpiker’s former wife.

Iroc Coppersmeltre- (i rock Copper’ smelter) member of Iroc Council.

Iroc Dimindcatre- (i rock diamond cutter) Only female member of the Iroc Council.

Iroc Tunelmakre- (i rock tunnel maker) Chief opposition leader to Cadot Stonpiker. Later he became Cadot.

Iroc Steelsmeltre-(i rock Steel Smelter) Member of High Council

Ironmelter- 18 year old Dwarf that volunteered to spy outside of Vermath as Goblin Army came to lay siege.

Quartzpikr- (quartz picker) Nephew of Cadot Tunelmakre and appointed second in command of the army after Rubifindre was sent back to Vermath. He had previously served as Vassel of a platoon.

Rocbrakre- (rock beaker) Chief captain of Dwarven Army Cadot

Stonpiker’s head of security.

Rubyseekre- (ruby seeker) 18 year old Dwarf girl engaged to

Rubifindre- (ruby finder)Rocbrakre’s second in command fired on the march to Drathmire and sent back to Vermath in disgrace. He was replaced with Quartzpiker the Cadot’s nephew

Topazfindre- (topaz’ finder) Elderly retired Dwarven politician chosen by Cadot Tunelmakre to manage things in Vermath while the Dwarven Army went to fight Drathmire. He was leading as the Goblin Army came to siege Vermath.

Vassel Gemkutre (vassel gem cutter) Vassel is a title similar to Sergeant in the Army of Men.

LEADERS OF DRATHMIRE

Kronilack- (crown’ -I -lack) Leader of the Gnomes, he protects them through his Magick.

Maruusaal- (mar -use’ -all) King of the Goblins, He has been trying to form an alliance with Kronilack. Kronilack’s response was usually to torture them to death and then eat them, returning to bones to Maruusaal with thanks.

Maerimagh- (mear i-maugh’) A Gnome that was captured, brainwashed, and placed under a spell that allowed the spellcaster see and hear what the subject could see and hear. He became Kronilack’s Chief advisor, so in effect Kronilack became the puppet of the Goblins. eal) chief

Manseel- (man’seal) Goblin’s mage for Maruusaal.

KINGDOMS OF HUMANKIND

Arborlea- (are -bore -lee) Kingdom of the Elves.

Artermador- (are -term’ -a -door) One of the kingdom of Men.

Cathermania- (kath –er –mania’) A small kingdom in the Southern continent

Drathmire- (drath’ mire) Lands held by Goblins, Rock Trolls and Gnomes.

Eye of the Serpent- (i’ of the cer pant) Narrow valley which is the only way to get from Vermath to Drathmire. The entire Dwarven Army was destroyed there.

Fulsimter- (full’ -sim -ter) One of the kingdom of Men.

Humankind- all the races evolved from humans this includes Men, Elves, Dwarves and Giants which are normally friendly to men, and Gnomes, Goblins, and Trolls which are almost always hostile.

Karrondor- (care’-ren -door) One of the kingdom of Men and home of the Gods of Karron.

Westonisia- (west’ -tone -easy -a) One of the kingdom of Men.

Verden- (ver’ –den) A former part of Westonisia that fought for and was granted independence 500 years ago. Verden has on occasion invaded Artermador to try and gain additional land; but never successfully.

Vermath- (ver’ -math) Land of the Dwarves, a very mountainous region where the Dwarves live underground most of the time. The largest mountain in the region is also called Vermath, most Dwarves live in and under it.

Mountains of Deceit- Home of the Mountain Trolls.

GODS OF KARRON

Haven- (hay’ vin) The place where the Gods of Karron live.

Kar- (car) Oldest of the Gods of Karron, A male diety that taught men farming, fishing, sailing, and how to care for domesticated animals. Giants love Kar above all other Gods.

Ren- (ren) The eldest female diety second of the Gods of Karron. She taught men sewing, cooking, healing, and medicines.

Ham- (ham) The third of the Gods of Karron. He taught men smithing, stonework, woodworking and other trades. Later he taught men commerce. The Dwarves are especially close to Ham.

Lis- (liz) Fourth of the Gods of Karron. She taught men music, writing, reading, and the arts. Later She taught men to barter.

Isa- (eye’ saw) The fifth of the Gods. He taught men hunting, trapping, tracking and other woodland skills. Later he taught men the skill of trade. He loves the Elven people the most because they implemented his teachings in everything they do.

Nog- (nog) She is the sixth God of Karron and taught compassion, love, kindness and order. She went down to earth to find her twin brother Gru, who had been cast out by the other Gods. Gru incited men to rise up against her. She was killed by those men who feared her causing the other Gods to cast destruction of vengeance down upon the earth.

Gru- (grue) Once a God of Karron and a twin to Nog. He was supposed to teach men trade, commerce, and barter; but taught instead war, cruelty, and slavery because he loved darkness and chaos. He was cast out of Haven and made mortal by the other Gods. He incited men to rise up and kill Nog, his sister bringing the destruction of the Gods upon mankind and what the other Gods thought was his own death as well. Although mortal he never ages; he still lives deep in the ground in the Northlands of Drathmire. The Trolls, Goblins, and Gnomes follow him and him alone. He still hides from his brothers and sisters; who believe that the Trolls, Goblins, and Gnomes worship a dead god.

The priests of Karron teach men that all six gods are equally important and that no god should be favored over any others. They teach that balance is the answer to man’s constant tendency to violence and destruction. Men must put off their normal nature and rise above their natural state. They teach that if men fail the Gods of Karron again; they will eliminate men from the earth and allow the other races of humans to inherit the earth without men.

MISCELANOUS

Dwarves in Cryarlac Original number of Dwarves that left for Cryarlac. The group consisted of 270 married couples, 35 unmarried men, 42 unmarried women, and 226 children totaling 843 later an additional 972 Dwarves made up of 257 workers, 242 spouses, and 473 children. This brought total of Dwarf refugees in Cryarlac to 1815

Bekar- (bee -car) the humankind standard of weight, normally the weight of ten gold beckars or ten ounces. A gold beckar weighs one ounce.

Decobek- (dek’ oh beek) Ten Bekars

Dragru plant- (drag’ roo) A plant that grows through out The world especially near volcanic activity. It is resistant to fire and it’s seed pods are actually explosive. It has been used for centuries in cannons. The seed pod, about the size of a woman’s hand explodes scattering seeds over a large area. Packed into a canon five seed pods per pound of projectile could launch it about 500 feet. Cannons had to be fairly long to accommodate the pods and the projectile.

Centobek- (cent’ oh beek) One hundred Bekars

Kilobek- (kill’ oh beek) One thousand Bekars

Decibek- (des’ see beek) One tenth of a Bekar

Cencibek- (sen’ cee beek) One hundredth of a Bekar

Kilibek- (kill’ lee Beek) One thousandth of a Bekar

Beckar- (beck’ are) an ounce of gold and the medium of currency in the world.

Deis (day’ ees) the value of one tenth Beckar it is made of silver.

Centums (cen’ tums) the value of one tenth of a Deis and one hundredth of a Beckar. They are made of copper.

Drachlomancer- (drak’ -lo -man -cer) Magician, usually an Elf who studies the magic of destruction.

Tomanihah (tom an eye’ ha) Book of scripture that the prophets of Karron have received from the Gods over the centuries
