Chapter Dating 146

Chapter 146

The second time my eyes opened, I found myself back in my dorm room tucked beneath my covers in bed. My head was pounding and more than half my body was sore beyond basic movement.

Had it not been for these undeniable factors, I would have sworn that what happened earlier had been nothing more than a dream. A wild, terrifying, and fantastical dream.

“Hey, I think she’s waking up,” a voice spoke out.

As my vision cleared, I was quick to see that I wasn’t the only one in my room. Bonnie, Liam, Arthur, and, weirdly enough, Olivia were all lounging around the place. Were they all waiting for me to wake up?

What happened?” I asked. Much of my memory was still quite fuzzy on a lot of things.

The second I tried to push myself into a better sitting position, nearly half the room broke out in adamant refusals.

Ella, no. Stop,” Liam said swiftly while pressing a firm hand to my shoulder, pressing me back into the mattress.

Arthur shook his head. “You need to rest more.”

“What you’ve been through is highly rare and…Nothing short of miraculous,” Liam remarked.

I tried to get past the lump in my throat. “So, it was real,” I whispered.

Most of them nodded their heads in confirmation but I found myself lightly shaking my head in denial. Sure the memories were slowly sinking back into my mind, but that didn’t necessarily mean that I was willing to accept any of it.

I don’t believe it,” I muttered.

Liam’s voice remained calm and even. “I know it’s a lot to take in-

“It’s not possible,” I countered back.

“Clearly, it is,Olivia stated. “Otherwise, you wouldn’t have completely wolfed out in front of everyone-”

“That’s enough, Olivia,” Arthur said tightly. He gave her a hard glare that was filled with warning. She merely rolled her eyes and let out a long breath in response.

My brows pinched together. Why the hell was she even here?

I know I was told I needed to rest but the more alert I became, the more I realized how much I needed answers. The second time I tried to get up, I stopped Liam’s hand from pressing me back down and gave him a pointed look.

I glanced around for my phone and spotted it across the room on my desk. “Can someone hand me my phone, please? Both Liam and Arthur made an immediate move to grab my phone, but Bonnie was the closest to it and reached over to hand it to me. It was strange watching the two of them exist in the same space and not openly going at each other’s throats. “What are you doing?Liam asked.

“I think it would be if I head home for the rest of the weekend,” I said. “I’m sending her a text, letting her know that I need to talk to her about…What’s happened.”

Liam didn’t exactly look thrilled about the idea of me moving around just yet, he nodded his head. “I’ll give you a ride back to the house in a little while.

I felt like I was really taking a shot in the dark by reaching out to my mom about this situation. My whole life, she was the one who always insisted that I was nothing more than human. At times, she’d been rather insistent about it, never allowing there to be room for any possible argument.

It always left me wondering why.

Well, given the circumstances, I was no longer going to let her push the subject off. It needed to be addressed.

Olivia glanced down at her nails and spoke with a hint of amusement in her voice. I’m going to be honest, Arthur. I really

didn’t believe you when you told me that she wasn’t human.”

“Why the hell would I make something like that up?” Arthur snapped back.

Liam snorted in derision. “Maybe because you’ve proven yourself to be a vindictive asshole, who doesn’t know when to leave people alone.”

I was suddenly hit with that same anger I had felt from earlier before. A low growl rumbled from my throat, causing my eyes to widen.

Goddamnit! It was as if I had no control over my own body at this point.

It was partially mortifying. Was this how it was going to be for me from now on? Was I not going to have any legitimate control over my emotions and instead have them be openly broadcasted at all times?

“Liam, stop it,” I said. “Look, I don’t know what’s going on. None of this makes any sense to me. Alright, I was raised human and was never led to believe otherwise.”

Liam released a long breath. “Ella, I–we know that you’re feeling very disoriented. But what’s important, right now, is that you rest. At least for a little while more.”

My entire life had just been torn apart no more than a few hours ago. ‘Disoriented‘ wasn’t exactly how I would have phrased it. I was downright terrified and deeply upset.

I shook my head. “No,” I refused. “I need to get out of here. I need to go home. Now.”

For the first time, Arthur and Liam shared a look with each other that wasn’t filled with any sort of disdain or hate but rather concern and understanding. I guess, in a way, we all knew that we needed answers to this situation.

“Alright. We’ll take you

ome.”

Bonnie and, oddly enough, Olivia, helped me get my bag together. Arthur stood by the door, waiting expectedly for Liam and me. Liam stopped short. “Do not think you’re tagging along,” he said to him.

“You’re out of your goddamn mind if you think that I’m going to leave her side when something severe as this is going on,” Arthur said with a sneer.

Liam squared his shoulders back. “I’m Ella’s actual mate.”

“So am I,” he snarled.

I felt myself tremble at this revelation. Suddenly, more of my memory was coming back where I could recall leaning into Arthur’s touch and feeling a genuine spark of joy and warmth. My wolf recognized Arthur as my mate.

“That can’t be possible,” Liam said stiffly.

“I didn’t believe it myself either. But I dug through my family’s library and discovered numerous old texts and articles that explain this sort of phenomenon.” He locked his gaze on me. “Ella, once we finish speaking with your mother, I’m going to show you everything that I’ve managed to find on this.”

Even though I sent my mom a text, letting her know about my sudden arrival back home, she was surprised to see me. Nonetheless, she happily greeted me with a tight hug and wished to know everything about the new school.

“Classes are okay, for the most part,” I told her vaguely.

It wasn’t as though I didn’t want her to know the truth about my time and experience. But I had more important issues to get through first. And there was no clear telling how this conversation was going to go.

After briefly introducing Arthur to my mom, we all moved to the living room for a more ideal setting. I came to the swift conclusion that there really was no easy way to approach the subject.

“Mom, I’m just gonna come out and ask. Did my father happen to be a werewolf?”

Her affronted expression had me preparing for a typical argument.

“Why on earth would you ask me-

“Because Ella happened to shift into a wolf practically in front of half the school this morning,” Arthur stated.

My mom’s mouth fell open in shock. “Oh, no.”
