Dark Moon (ManxMan)

Chapter 22

When Colson comes to, he finds himself lying on the bed. He's not sure what to do. It's like something else was with him.

After looking around the room, he finds out he's in Aetos' room and he's alone. He swings his legs over the side of the bed and got up, he shuffles over to the kitchen and then got into the bathroom. He flips on the light and splashed water on his face.

Something didn't feel right.

Colson doesn't bother wiping his face clean. He walks back into the room, just as the door was pushed open and Aetos walks in. In the blink of an eyes, he was in front of Colson, his hands cupping his cheeks. "Baby, are you okay? Do you need anything?" Aetos asked and Colson shakes his head.

"I'm fine." Colson answers, the lie falling past his lips freely. He doesn't feel okay. "What about Diego?" Colson asks.

"He's okay. He's sleeping it off."

"What happened? What did you do to him?"

Aetos looks at him with a worried expression, his brows arching up as he stared at Colson. "You don't know?" He asks and Colson shakes his head. He couldn't see after a while and everything was just dark. "I don't know."

"I might have snapped his neck when he touched." Aetos says and Colson's eyes widened.

"You don't snap people's neck because of that."

"I promised to protect you and he looked crazed. So I did what I had to do." Aetos said. "He's a vampire. Me snapping his neck wouldn't do anything to him. If I had ripped his head off, now that would be a different story."

"It'd be different cbecause he would be dead."

"He is already dead."

Colson narrowed his eyes at Aetos who sighs. "He's a kid."

"He has to learn."

They stare at each other for a while before Volson relaxes a bit. He moves closer to Aetos, wrapping his arms around the vampires waist and resting his head on Aetos' chest. The hands the vampire had around his cheeks, moved down a bit to his shoulders and he hugs him tight. It had been scary and it was true. Aetos had done what he had to do.

He needed to talk to Cobie.

He pulls back a bit, chin resting against Aetos' chest as he looks up at the vampire.

"I need to talk to Cobie." "Why?"

Isn't that a good question? His brother was the only one who could see the black spots on his body and it was Cobie who figured Michel out. He wants to tell Aetos, he really did but Colson fears whatever it is coming for him, knows how to end Aetos. He couldn't do that.

With Cobie, they could figure out a plan. But with Aetos it felt like a death march.

"He and I need to talk."

"It's late, Colson."

"Late?" Colson asks rhetorically, letting go of Aetos to look out the window. It was dark out. How had he missed that? He peeps over at the clock hanging to the side and sighs again when he sees it quarter past ten. He couldn't go marching up to the pack house now. Cobie was carrying twin, he didn't need to stress him out. This could wait until morning.

It's time, my pet.

What had that meant?

Colson realizes he was pacing and stops. He needs to pull himself together and focus.

"I'm kinda hungry."

"Why don't we go to the kitchen and I'll whip something up." Aetos says, putting a hand out and Colson slid his hand in. They locked their fingers together and Aetos pulls Colson closer. He pressed a kiss to Colson's temple, the two of them staying in that position for a while. "Are you really okay? You're making me worried."

"I'm good." Colson says, his heart beating a mile a minute. It's in this instance that Colson is again thankful that vampires don't hear ticks in heartbeats or well, heartbeats in general or else he'd be fucked. He was trained better than this. He was trained to know how to lie and keep his heartbeat still under pressure. He doesn't understand why things were going haywire now.

He menatally shakes his head as he follows Aetos out of the room.

"Did you tell Cobie what happened?"

"Not yet. I didn't want to make him worried."

"Good call." Colson replied. "Where's Pytor?"

"It's date night." was Aetos simple and ah, that answered it. Colson takes a seat at the kitchen counter and watched as his boyfriend moved around the kitchen, pulling out stuff from the fridge.

The voice in his head had to have been Baba. There was no other person and he was seventy percent sure, Michel couldn't break into people's minds.

He rests his elbows on the table and placed his cheeks on his palms, thoughts flirting through his mind. He realizes he was too quiet and decided to fill in the silence.

"I think we should have more date nights." Colson says.

"Of course. I could fly you out of the country. There's this place in Greece that make the most amazing steak."

"You want to fly me out..." Colson says slowly. "So I can eat steak? You do know they have steak here too."

Aetos chuckles, looking over his shoulder, hands paused as he watched Colson. "I did say I'd do anything for you."

"I am starting to realize you really mean what you say." Colson says softly. He has met a lot of people who just say things, he has met a lot of people who promise things but besides Cobie and Pa, Aetos really means to keep promises he made. "Always."

Colson grins at his boyfriend. "This is why you are the greatest boyfriend ever."

Dinner goes like that. Colson eats while Aetos takes a flask out of the fridge and took small sips of blood. They talked about Aetos and how he knows how to make so many foods, they argue about Rachel and Ross being on a break and they both sit quietly a bit, Aetos' hand in his keeping him grounded.

He dumps his plate in the sink and pressed a kiss to Aetos' cheek, wishing him a goodnight. It wasn't weird or abnormal. Sometimes he sleeps in Aetos' room and other times, he sleeps in his room. "Let me walk you to your door."

"It's just us here. Diego isn't suddenly going to appear and snap my neck." Aetos shoots him a glare and Colson couldn't hold back his laughter, raising his hands up in surrender. "I won't joke about it." "Don't even do it mentally."

"I promise." Colson says solemnly, smiling up at Aetos. The vampire shakes his head as they walk up the stairs. True to his words, he does walk Colson to his door. "Come sleep with me tonight."

"You naughty naughty vampire." Colson tsked, moving closer to the taller man.

"I meant sleep in every sense of the word. Sleep."

"Oh yeah, sleep." Colson giggles, moving closer. He pressed a kiss to Aetos' cheek, trailing kisses down the side of his neck, hands slipping underneath Aetos' shirt.

"Webster dictionary describes sleep as: to rest your mind and body by closing your eyes and becoming unconscious." Aetos says, voice shaky as he spoke. Colson takes hula nails down Aetos' abs and pulls away and looks up at Aetos. "You're a secret nerd, aren't you?"

"When you've been alive for as long as I have, you'd read one or two dictionaries."

"Well, read that as you go to sleep tonight." Colson smiles, giving his vampire a wink as he twists the knob and pushed open the door.

He shuts the door and rests on it.

Something still didn't feel right. He felt kind of restless, like his fingers were empty. He laid down on the bed and watched the ceiling. He doesn't know how long he did that. Just watching the plain white ceiling.

He doesn't think. It's like his mind had gone quiet. Static. He stays that way until he hears this ringing sound in his head. It was loud and tinkly, like it was coming from a small bell.

Colson gets off the bed, walked over to the closet and afte a couple seconds takes out two handguns, one loaded with silver bullets and the other wooden.

The tinkly sound goes off again and Colson follows it. He doesn't notice that it's past two and how does the saying go again? Nothing good ever happens after 2am.

Colson doesn't go out the door, instead he quietly walks over to the window and in a couple of moves hops out, landing with one knee down. No injuries, nothing.

He looks around him, making sure no one was watching or no one was there. He tucked the guns underneath his jumper and walks into the night. He follows the tinkling sound, making sure to avoid street lights and was hidden between the trees.

With the guns with him he feels a lot better and the feeling he had earlier that night was dwindling like he was getting closer and closer to something and maybe he was.

Colson walks out of town, heading towards the construction sites where a couple houses and schools were being built due to the amount of people who want to move to Astir. He walks past the final house and then stops.

He doesn't know what he's waiting for. All he knows is that the tinkling sound has stopped. There was only one streetlight here, just a couple paces in front of him. Colson doesn't move though, he just waits and watched.

It was quiet, too quiet. Not even crickets could be heard but he waits, hands tucked into his pockets.

"Relax, little one." Someone says and Colson whips around, searching for who had said that but there was no one there.

"I'm right here, Colson." The person says again and Colson looks around but there is no one there. He looks back at the streetlight and sees a shadow on the ground.

He almost screams when he sees the shadow rising off the floor. It lifts itself off the ground with its hands pressed flat to the ground, He does take a step back when the shadow stands on two legs and looked right at him. What the fuck was happening?? He should be freaking out. Why isn't he freaking out?!

"You were hard to train, let me tell you." The shadow says, walking closer. With each step it took towards Colson, something changes.

The first step the shadow takes towards Colson, one leg was wrapped in a jean material, the second step the shadow takes, his left leg was wrapped in a jean material. The shadow was wearing jeans. It continues that way until the shadow was close enough.

It reaches back and out of nowhere pulls a hood that covers half its face.

"I must be dreaming."

"You aren't. Trust me, if you were, you'd know it." The shadow says. Colson doesn't understand why he hasn't pulled out his gun and shot at the thing. He couldn't though, it felt like the wrong thing to do.

"What are you?"

"Baba." The shadow says with a shrug.

"So I should just call you Baba?" Colson asks.

"Maybe I'll tell you my real name at the end of the night, if you're good." Baba says, his voice deep, it's hands in its pockets. "Walk with me."

Colson follows before he even realizes it. They walk side by side. Deep deep within, Colson knows he's freaking out about this but he just doesn't understand.

"I can feel your confliction. It's making me uncomfortable."

Colson scoffs. "You? Really? Are you the one having a million and one feelings and not knowing what to do?" Colson asked Baba.

"To make things a bit easier for you, I'll give you an answer." Baba paused. "I trained you."

"Trained me how? I'm sure I'd remember if I see a shadow rise out of light to train me." Colson sassed.

"I trained you while you slept." Baba says it like it  was simple. Maybe to it, it was but to Colson, that makes him have a thousand and one more questions.

"B-"

"No questions. You have a task tonight."

Colson opens his mouth, trying to ask questions but he couldn't. It felt like something thick was pressing down on his throat and he couldn't speak. He silently walks beside Baba who doesn't let up. Colson notices they dodge the lights as they walked, remaining in the shadows as they made their way into town.

Just like smoke, the weight on his throat vanished and he could speak. There was only one person who had done that to him and that was Michel. Did this mean Michel had been working with Baba all this time? How the hell did Baba even get past the barrier Toby set up with his blood?

He had so many questions to ask and yet, all that comes out his mouth was. "What is my task tonight?"

"We are planting a seed tonight. He is almost as stubborn as you but I still broke you." Baba says with so much confidence and yet it still doesn't run Colson the wrong way.

They keep walking until they get to one of the clubs, the loud thumping coming from the inside. There was a long queue outside and Colson was itching to know just what time it is. He wonders if Aetos knows he had gone out of the house. He stays beside Baba, the two of them watching. The people out there were laughing and talking and smoking, the occasional drunk people walking out of the exit. They stay for a couple more minutes until Baba talks. "Him."

Colson watched Se Ju walk out of the club with his arm around Randall. Colson watched as Randall stops, days something to Se Ju and walks back into the club.

"You don't mean S-"

"Yes. I mean the good doctor." Baba says. "You're going to have to scare him a lot, Colson." Baba says. Colson turns to him, ready to say hell no, when a dark hand reached out and touched his forehead. "Go."

It felt like he was moving on autopilot. He follows quietly as Se Ju walks past the crowd and heading towards the parking lot. Colson pulls out his guns and picked up his step, keeping his heartbeat, smooth and calm. However, it seemed like Se Ju knee he was being followed because he turned around and stared right at Colson. Colson doesn't know what he was expecting but it wasn't for Se Ju to go tense with fear.

He keeps thinking what the fuck is happening while his hands move by their accord, rising up and shooting right at Se Ju. The werewolf flips, dodging the bullets as they ring out. Colson runs up, hands reaching out to hit Se Ju. He was a trained fighter, he was trained to endure the blows that came from creatures ten times stronger than him so he knew what to do. The fight, Colson bending low to avoid each blow Se Ju tries to throw his way, legs reaching out and kicking the werewolf right in the balls. He doesn't let up as the wolf falls into his knees. No.

He pushed Se Ju flat against the ground and kicks him multiple times, making sure to use his strength so the wolf actually feels it. He kneels over the wolf, placing the guns down before he grabs Se Ju by the shirt and punched him in the face. Colson doesn't stop. He doesn't know how to stop. He just keeps going until Se Ju was almost out, blood dripping it his nose, the side of his mouth and above his brow.

"Your guns."

Colson quickly looks in the direction of the voice, watching Baba wall out of the shadow. Colson reaches for the guns he kept on the ground and with the two in hand, he cocks them. He pressed one gun against Se Ju's shoulder and the other against the doctor's thigh.

Se Ju's head kept killing back, lips parted as he tries to breathe, it hurts to do so with his nose.

"Ready." Baba said, walking even closer to the two of them. Colson knee they didn't have time, Randall would be on his way. "Go."

Colson doesn't hesitate to shoot, the silencers making the sound dull. The bullets go in and Colson tosses Se Ju to the ground and got to his feet. He looked down at the body in front of him. He hadn't aimed at vital parts and if Randall finds him in time and pull out the bullets, the doctor would be fine.

"Lets go. The other one is almost here."

It's then that Colson notices the car park was dark, the streetlights had gone out. So hopefully, no one had seen him come and no one will see him leave. He looks down at himself and groaned. He hated blood stains. There were spots of blood varying in size on his shirt and his knuckles were in a bad state.

"Do you have any wipes?"

"What do I look like to you?" Baba asked and Colson rolls his eyes. A simple yes or no would have sufficed. He didn't need all this crap.

"I'm going home. I'm done right? Or do you need me to do something else?" Colson asked, tucking the gun underneath his shirt and continues on.

"I'll call on you soon." Baba says. It's hood was still pulled down low enough to cover half of its face. All Colson wants is to go back home, take off the clothes and toss them in a paper bag. He stops and turns to Baba. "You owe me a name."

"I remember saying I'd tell you if you were good."

"I think I was better than good." Colson says as he comes to a stop, hands on his hips. Baba stops and turns to him and for the first time Colson sees the shadow on the bottom half of its face part and yellow sharp teeth shine. "My name is Baba. But most people know me as Baba Yaga."
