Crash-landed On An Island With Nine Beauties

Chapter 50

The crescent moon had a silhouette of clouds stalking it, but the gentle flames of the bonfire tossed around by the idle winds gave enough light to the ten youth seated around the fire.

They could had been called eleven, but the white wolf hiding in the gloom behind the castle had other ideas. Though she was seated with her head between her legs, her face thrusted in their direction, yet her attention wavered.

Drake dropped the wooden plate and bark of coconut fruit which he had just drank from. The girls were having a gist. He knew he was about to ruin that.

His eyes strayed to Ayisha. She neither smiled nor frowned. She kept a neutral expression. It was very hard to push away the fresh memories of her on him. The passion and the desire. Thinking too much about it would give him a boner.

He felt light and his mood pure. His eyes were sharper and his vision clearer. He looked up at the sky and traced the lines of thin clouds racing in the gloomy sky.

He looked towards the castle. He saw two red eyes in the dark.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE ALONE?

- pretend you can't see -

He scoffed. What was he thinking? He should be acquainted with the indifference of the wolf already.

"Time to talk."

He called eventually. One after the other the girls put their lips to bed till the last person, who said,

"Manner."

Lisa.

"Before I start, who has something to say?"

He took a risk. He was very aware of what this might lead to, yet he wanted them to express themselves freely. He didn't want to be too opinionated. His recent meeting with Ayisha gave him another perception of things.

Laurette was the first who put up her hand.

"Ok, Laurette."

She wanted to stand,

"No, remain seated. You'll be speaking with your mouth right?"

The girls laughed. Laurette didn't really find it funny.

"Why did you have to do that to my sister? Why?! After all, it's just a Cannibal. A beast, not even a human. Don't you think you overreacted?"

Damien looked away from Laurette to Lisa who added,

"Yea, that's true. You claim to care about us, but you put the Cannibals over us? They are just beasts. True talk. Why should beasts and humans share the same punishment and stuff?" "I agree."

Evelyn, Lisa and Jada called.

"Me too."

Tendzel seconded. Damien waited for a while, looking from one girl to the other, especially at those who hadn't spoken yet.

"Anyone else?"

Claire put up her hand.

"I have something else to say."

Damien nodded,

"Let's deal with this first, then we'll have yours."

He took Laurette in his gaze.

"Were you mad and pissed off because it was your sister? Would you had done the same thing if it happened to any of the girls other than your sister?" Laurette's face changed.

"What does that have to do with ---"

"You're not trying to be defensive, are you?"

She looked beaten. Damien continued coldly,

"Answer in neutrality. Would you?"

"No."

He was impressed that Laurette didn't hide the truth. He had a reason to respect her, even though she answered grudgingly.

"To the rest of you who share the same construct."

The girls who supported Laurette tucked theirs heads in, they couldn't look up at him. Only Evelyn was bold enough. Not even Tendzel.

"What happens if you were Cannibals and humans invaded your privacy, your home and land? They killed one of your brothers or sisters... would you say the same?" "That's not even the same thing."

Evelyn kept up with the argument. Damien was finding it interesting.

"It isn't?"

The ladies mumbled amongst themselves.

"How about this? You were from a poor family, finding it hard to make ends meet. One day, a rich man took what belonged to you, yet beat you on top of it. That isn't a good experience, is it?"

"Or let's say you are disabled and can't even choose your words wisely. Then came someone who's far better and denied you of all the things you are naturally entitled to. Yet the person wishes you death?"

"Or what if you were a poor boy who had a grandfather. A dying grandfather whom he tried to care for and would do anything to save and enrol in a hospital. Only for him to be humiliated by the classy but ill- mannered girls he worked for. Girls who never saw him as a human. Girls who treated their iguana pets better than him!!!"

The girls knew who he was referring to with the last illustration. None of them could say anything. The atmosphere suddenly became stuffy, choking the girls. He took a deep sigh.

"Put up your heads, this is not the time to feel sorry."

He gulped.

"I just want you to know that you have no right to decide who lives or dies. Whether an animal or a Cannibal, your so called beasts! Beasts who wouldn't kill you after they abducted some of you!!!" Damien got tired. The girls were sober. He was bored. He wasn't used to this side of them. He was used to the wild and talkative side. Perhaps this new side wasn't as good as he thought it would be.

But it was quite a great thing to see them reflecting on the terrible things they had done to him.

"We are sorry."

Allison said finally. The rest of the girls chorused,

"Forgive us, we are sorry. We owe our lives to you."

DID THEY REHEARSE THIS BEFORE NOW?

It was strange that the girls said that long sentence the same time.

Allison was the first who knelt, then followed the girls one after the other.

IS THIS REAL? ARE THEY REALLY REMORSEFUL? AREN'T THEY DOING IT BECAUSE THEIR LEADER STARTED?

He had a lot of questions to ask, but that would only build up a castle of doubt. He didn't want to live in that. He had agreed with himself long ago to believe things for that they appear to be, until he's convinced otherwise. That way, he would have less time worrying about the unknown, and invest himself in the real things.

The only person who didn't kneel was... yes you got it right. None of the girls paid attention to her.

"Though I find it hard to believe that this is genuine, but I forgave you all long time ago."

"If you did, then why did you send the wolf to chase us?"

Claire attacked. That must be one of reasons she wasn't joining the rest.

SHE FIGURED OUT ALREADY. SHE SURE IS SMART.

"Claire!!!"

Jada snapped but Damien came on,

"I forgave you but I didn't forget. So, from time to time, expect some lil surprise packages from me."

He shot a wild smile.

"What were you going to say earlier, Claire?"

He ignored the kneeling girls and one after the other they stood up.

"Who gave you the right to call us your queens!!!"

Claire barked.

THIS BITCH.

He chuckled inwards.

"Yes, that's true."

"I almost forgot about it.

Seeing that the girls were seconding, he stood up.

"Where do you think you're going."

Tendzel added. He didn't reply. He walked in the direction of the castle.

"Come back here."

Claire called again, but instead Damien ran.

"Hey, you!!!"

The girls chased him. Claire didn't want to join, but looking at her back, she saw two red eyes in the dark.

She had no choice but to run. For a different reason though..
