Chapter 11
The boy with eight girls
... Damien flipped the system window. He didn't care about what points he had now. All he wanted to do was build a fence of traps around that square plain. That was his priority. After that, he could start thinking of building the real project as well as locking the cannibals in. He exchanged points for the CAPENTER skill at the proficient level. At the same time, he was sure to get the Lord of the hunts skill too. He knew that when he was done building the traps, he would be able to make up for the used points.
Exchanging points for the proficient level of the CAPENTER skill unlocked new tools too. Like bigger saws, chain saws, a plain, basic barbed thick wires and several other necessary tools.
Before he started work, he looked back at the safehouse. He didn't know what to do with Ayisha now. She must be having a hard time at that moment. That made him hate the cannibals more, and he felt like setting their camp on fire.
But he knew that he couldn't act on impulse, if he did, even though he was able to satisfy the rage, he would only dig new gores that he would be unable to fill. At least, not quickly. He looked away to the nearest trees. He considered the one which would be mote sturdy. The skill he had just obtained gave him the understanding that the Cedar tree was the strongest for building or any form of construction. A typical Cedar tree starts work after fifty years!!! I DON'T THINK A CEDAR IS IMPORTANT FOR TRAPS. I COULD USE IT FOR BUILDING THE PROJECT. : Instead he began to cut down a fir tree and divided it into a portable pegs and planks. He had a lot of ideas. The combination of both the LORD OF THE HUNTS skill and CAPENTER skill really came in handy.
After several hours of moving from one corner of the plain to the other, he had successfully built a barbed wired fence with traps fixed in them. He was sure to make a door at the West of the fence, where people can go and come from. The height of the fence was five feet, four inches. At the top of the fences were sharp edges of numerous hunting knives. Such would prevent anyone from climbing in. Not only knowledge came with the package but speed. There was a reason for it being called a proficient level. That was why it didn't take forever to build the fences.
He dropped on his butts. He was exhausted but was proud of himself at the same moment. He was glad that he built something so worthwhile.
(Ping! Constructed a fence and gained 5000 experience points.] "Five thousands?"
He called out loudly. NOW, I'LL HAVE TO GO LOCK THOSE BASTARDS IN, UNTIL I FIGURE OUT WHAT I SHOULD DO WITH THEM. (Ping! Activated a safe mode and gained 3000 experience points.]
"Safe mode? What safe mode?"
He wasn't given much time to ponder on that question. He heard chatters and approaching footsteps coming in the direction of the safehouse.
He jumped up and brought out his gun. He would have to make a better bow and arrows, now that he has enough barbed blades. Also, aiming with the arrow will not be a problem because he's now a LORD OF THE HUNTS!
"Could it be?"
He was getting ready as he stole towards the gate of the fence. The voice was getting clearer and the footsteps louder. "What do they want?"
He dropped the aim, watching the seven girls approach the place. He could see shock and awe pacing their faces as soon as they saw the fence. "Could Damien really be this industrious?" He heard Evelyn say "I kinda feel safe around this place." Laurette supported Evelyn. Damien heard them but pretended not to. He got to the wooden but sturdy gate and stood in their way. "If it's one or two, I'd say it's possible, but I can't imagine seven grown girls missing their way."
"How can you -"
"We are here to speak with you." Mira cut Claire short of her argument. If the discussion was left to her, they wouldn't get anywhere. Seemed like everyone agreed with that.
"What if I don't wanna speak?"
His eyes suddenly fell on Jada. She looked away at once. She was very shy.
"I'm sure you have every right to be mad, but we are adults, aren't we? We can always come to a conclusion. A conclusion which would favor the lot of us."
Mira explained. Damien perceived that she was very smart. Unlike Claire, she does less words with weighty meanings. He looked from one girl to the other. When his eyes fell on Lisa, it lingered. His lust for her obviously couldn't be tamed. But it wasn't as strong as before.
He stepped out of the way and the ladies began to walk in. When they had walked in he called,
"Let's make this clear, choose your words wisely around Ayisha or I'll kick all of you out."
He was sure to emphasize every word, gawking at Claire. Claire sneered, making a disagreeing sound in her throat. Not all the ladies loved what he'd just said with caht girls,
"You don't have to come out if you don't feel like..."
Damien watched Ayisha seat up. She stood up with a smile. "Don't be funny, why wouldn't I join them? I've missed the girls." She admitted and walked out of the safehouse. Damien didn't know how to explain what she meant by that. He didn't bother. At least, not that moment.
He followed her. The ladies were seated outside the safehouse. He sat with them, beside Jada. He wanted to give Ayisha a space. A space to absorb the warmth of the other girls.
He didn't know what it felt like to have friends. He'd never had one. All his life, he'd been bullied. So, he wouldn't pretend to know what Ayisha was going through. "We aren't here to sit it out, are we?" He noticed that the ladies were reluctant to start the conversation. Mira started, "We want us to work together. This is a dangerous place to be divided. The truth is we have our differences but we can put those aside for the sake of survival." "Do all the girls agree to this?" Damien looked from one girl to the other to get their reaction to his question. All of them nodded slowly except Claire and of course, Lisa. “If all of you didn't agree on this then why come waste my time?" Damien had directed that to the reluctant Claire and Lisa. The two girls realized what he meant and they nodded too. Then he stood up,
"Nothing goes for nothing. If you are ready to be a part of my survival project, what are you ready to give in return?". Jada tucked her head in at his question. Why was she making it so obvious? "Give...?" Claire was sure to emphasize it. "Yes, give!"
Damien helped her. "We'll give whatever we have to." Guessed who spoke? Lisa! Not only Claire was shook, but Damien felt intrigued too.
"Whatever?"
Damien tried to make her understand the magnanimity of the word! He could see Claire mumbling at her.
"Should I leave you to decide then. When you've come to a conclusion, you can call at me." He paused for a while,
"But don't expect sleeping and eating my meal for free without a price!"
"And, I don't have much time. You've got to decide as soon as possible. I got work to do."
He walked into the safehouse.
"Such arrogance."
He heard Claire cuss at him.
"Follow your man..."
Claire scorned at Ayisha. But Ayisha smiled in returned, not leaving.
"Such a creep."
Claire shrugged, looking to the rest who were pondering.
