years ago is old and ugly. You’re afraid that

Kerwin got up and turned on the lights. The room was instantly brightened up.
Betty continued, “You are very kind to me,
but I’d rather know the truth. I don’t want you to carry such a heavy burden alone. I’m
afraid that you’ll be sick of me one day.”
Kerwin raised her chin to him, “Foolish. I’m
not going to be sick of you ever. Stop the
whimsy. Does it make you unhappy when

If that man had really been Kerwin, Betty was supposed to be happy. However, she

That day, not far from Hilton Hotel, there had been a big party, at which Kerwin and James had gotten into a fight. Henry took
advantage of it and put the drug in Kerwin’s drinks.

James had gotten into a conflict with Kerwin because of Julia. Kerwin had some mood swings, maybe that had been when he
was drugged. By the time he drank that wine,
everything had already been too late. Henry’s
plan had been one step short of being
realized.
Hearing that, Betty couldn’t help frowning.
She remembered that Henry was also a member of the Martin family. They were all
relatives. How could he have treated Kerwin
like that?
