Chapter 152 The Watson Family in a Crisis
Roger’s face turned ashen. After hanging up the phone, he looked like a lost soul.
Daisy went over and asked, “What’s wrong?
You don’t look well.”
Roger tried to disguise his panic, only to
make it more conspicuous. Daisy started
fretting.
“A major deal of our company was investigated. I don’t know who did it, but
there is a chance all our money will be
frozen,” he replied.
It was a bolt from the blue! The blood
drained from Daisy’s face. She couldn’t
believe her ears.
A quiver in her voice, she asked, “You’re joking, right? Roger, say something! This...
isn’t real. It can’t be...”
Roger looked troubled. His smile was no
more.
In a serious manner, he replied, “It’s true!
Our company is screwed!”
The faces of Emily and Daisy both changed.

They had invested a lot of money in this project and taken out a loan from the bank. The freeze of their capital would promise the
collapse of their business, and the Watson family would face the risk of going broke.
Emily panicked, no longer caring about her image. She had taken pains to get Jeffrey back, and then such a thing happened.
What would Jeffrey think of it? Would he marry a
penniless woman?
She rushed to Jeffrey’s side and said in a bitter voice, “What should we do? Figure out something for my father! We can’t let the
deal go south, or the Watson family will be
doomed!”
Daisy was also perturbed.

She burst into tears.
Emily hurried over to comfort her mother
and shed tears too.
Jeffrey frowned and said, “I will look into it
and help you. Don’t worry too much. Stay
strong.”

Roger blamed himself.
This was too sudden. He had been very
cautious since it was a major deal. The
background investigation of their partner
was thorough, and there shouldn’t be any problem. How could this happen?
Jeffrey walked to the window and made several phone calls.
Betty was also shocked by the sudden event.
Just now, Daisy had been flaunting her affluent life and praising her son. In the next

Daisy sat there, crying. Emily and Roger also
looked downcast.
Jeffrey looked into the matter and came back with a sullen look. “Things are not that simple. The person behind it is mysterious

Daisy’s cries were even more bitter.
Pulling a long face, she had a mental breakdown. “Who the hell is working against
us?”
Sitting on the sofa, Roger put his hand on his chest. Jeffrey saw it, poured a glass of water,
and comforted the old man.
Betty looked at their sad faces and found her presence there meaningless. She intended to console Roger, but they might
misinterpret it as gloating. Therefore, she left without saying anything.

Emily noticed it and somehow remembered Kerwin’s warning.
If she schemed against Betty again, he
promised he would let the Watson family
pay!
Her heart sank to the bottom.
It should be the case.
It was Kerwin’s doing. No one else in Chicago was as powerful and ruthless.
Betty reached the gate of the courtyard when
Emily rushed over, grabbed her arm, and
refused to let her leave.
Startled by her sudden action, Betty frowned. and sulked, “What are you trying to do again? Did I offend you or something? Let
go
of me.”
“You have the nerve to say that? Betty, you’re cruel!” Emily snapped, “That is your

a monster!”
Betty was baffled.
Emily questioned her, “Did you ask Kerwin to teach my family a lesson? He had our company seized, our capital frozen, and our
business suspended, right? My dad is also your father. How could you do that? I stole Jeffrey away, and you want your revenge,
don’t you?”
This was ridiculous. She hadn’t told Kerwin

anything. She would not vent her anger in
such a way.
Her conscience clean, Betty said, “That’s a
groundless accusation. I’m not as nasty as
you think. Unlike you, I won’t do this kind of
boring thing. Truth be told, it’s not my doing! I have no reason to do that.”
Betty denied it, but Emily was convinced that
she was the instigator.
Her tone got harsher. “You seduced my fiancé and then sent your husband to take down our business. You want to cut off our
cash flow and let us struggle in poverty as you do. Am I right? Betty, I underestimated you! I need you to call Kerwin and tell him
to
stop! Now!”
Emily’s insults annoyed Betty, and her face
fell.
How come she had such a venomous sister?
With a poker face, Betty snapped, “You’d
better mind your speech! I’ve never tried to
seduce Jeffrey or asked Kerwin to give you a
hard time. It’s all in your imagination! I
should go. How I wish I’d never known you!
Pathetic!”

“Don’t you dare leave!” Emily refused to let
go of her.
“You won’t leave without settling this
matter. Come back! bi*ch!”
Betty and Emily tussled in the garden until Emily had an accidental fall. Betty went over, trying to help her sister up, but Emily
swung
her away.
“I don’t need your help! Drop the act, Betty!” Emily screamed, “Do you think I don’t know about your jealous nature? You’re not
happy to learn that Jeffrey and I are getting
married. Just like when we were kids, you
broke my princess dress!”
