Chapter 23
I rose to my feet, my limbs stiff and aching. The maids’ voices seemed to echo in the confines of the small space, their hurried tones grating on my already frayed nerves. I only just had seat in hours and I was being called again. I wanted to scream in their faces but doing that would really be of no good to me. I couldn’t let this day end for me in tears.
“Aston has summoned you, they said, their eyes darting around the room as if they expected Aston to materialize from the shadows at any moment. “You must come at once.” One of them added, loitering around me like they wanted something that I wasn’t aware about.
I didn’t understand what the excitement was all about. I just didn’t get it. All I wanted was just to get the chance to leave this f***g place. To leave the grips of Aston and his godforsaken pack. I didn’t want to ever have to hear about him or smell anything that slightly resembled what he smelled like.
I nodded, my lips pressed into a thin line as I followed the maids out of my cell and through the maze-like hallways. We finally arrived at the dining hall and my gaze fell on Mara first. She looked like the ice queen sitting next to him. They looked perfect for each other but I didn’t care. I just wanted out
I served them their meal because I didn’t need to be told that it was what I was there for. Mara glared at me all through the time. I didn’t know what I’d done to offend her in just a small amount of time and I couldn’t afford enemies at the moment. I already had enough on my plate as it was
“Could you do things a little more neatly? I don’t like it when thing spill on my table.” She said and I bowed curtly ignoring her rudeness. I understood why the maids wanted to be like her in terms of beauty. She looked like a f**g goddess but she was genuinely manner less and that didn’t sit well with me but I didn’t care as long as she wasn’t all up in my business.
I was done serving them but I still had to wait to for them to be done and that annoyed me but there was nothing I could do about it. It felt like the Mara girl was purposely eating slowly just to get me staring longer than I needed to. I wish I could just walk up to her and shove the food inside her s*id **mouth.
I could have sworn she looked up at me when she took one bite and then dug back into her plate slower than a freaking slug.
“I don’t think I can have any more. She said after almost chowing the entire meal. I was going to ask her what it was that she didn’t want anymore but I just did my job and moved the plates to the kitchen.
As my rotten luck would let me, I met the head maid in the kitchen and I had to wash all the plates before being given my
own meal.
When I finally got back to my cell and hard to sleep on the hard floor, I just wished that they would give me a normal room like the rest of the s***es but I knew that Aston just wanted to punish me and that was cool. He could keep doing his thing for as long as he could. I wasn’t going to be in this pack forever after all. I was going to get out and have my baby anywhere but this pack.
Soon, it was morning before I knew it and the first news that was brought to my ears was that the alpha’s mate wanted to see me in her chambers, What an annoying way to start the day. I dragged myself off the ground and followed the maids out of the cell.
As we approached Mara’s chambers, the maids retreated, their nervous glances a silent reminder of the fear and deference that seemed to permeate every corner of this place.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open, my gaze dropping to the floor in a show of subservience as I entered the
Noom
Mara’s presence seemed to fill the room like a smothering cloud her icy blue eyes boring into me with the intensity of a winter storm. Her perfectly coiffed golden hair gleamed in the sunlight streaming through the windows, and the expensive silk of her gown rustled as she shifted on the sofa, regarding me with a curious expression.
“So, you’re Aston’s little s**,” she drawled, her voice dripping with disdain. “What did you do to deserve such a fate? You must have done something truly terrible to catch the alpha’s attention like this.”

I swallowed hard, fighting back the surge of anger and indignation that threatened to overwhelm me. My hands trembled as I clasped them in front of me, my gaze still fixed on the floor.
“It was nothing, my lady,” I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper. “I am simply here to serve the alpha in whatever capacity he sees fit.”
Mara laughed, the sound cold and mocking “Oh, you’re quite the little s**nt, aren’t you? You might be able to fool Aston with that innocent act, but I know better.
The words stung like a slap, sending a chill down my spine. Mara seemed to revel in my discomfort, her smile widening as she leaned forward, her eyes glittering with malice.
“I’ve been watching you, you know,” she said, her voice dropping to a low, dangerous purr, “And I can’t help but wonder what it is about you that’s caught Aston’s attention.
“You’re not particularly pretty, and you don’t have any special skills, as far as I can tell. So what is it? Are you his little bed toy, perhaps?
my
My heart pounded, my mouth suddenly dry as I struggled to find the right words. If I revealed the truth about pregnancy, I had no doubt that Mara would use it as a weapon against me. But lying to her felt equally dangerous, especially if she knew more than she was letting on.
Her words annoyed me more than I was letting on and I was doing my best to keep it in but how could I when she just compared me to the s**ts that Aston used as his sl***e.
“I’m not your mate’s s**t. I’m unlucky to be here and what I do is tend to his needs that doesn’t involve sex.” I said through gritted teeth. I wonder if she even knew that her so called mate slept with different women every week and made me f***g
watch!
Mara’s smile widened, her gaze lingering on my face with a chilling intensity.
“Oh, is that so?” Mara drawled, her voice dripping with sarcasm Well, perhaps that’s all you are to Aston, but I think there’s more to you than meets the eye, my dear.
“And I fully intend to find out what that is. You see, once I become the Luna, you’ll be my property, along with everything else in this pack. And I like to know exactly what I’m dealing with
She stood up then, gliding towards me with the lethal grace of a stalking predator.
I forced myself to remain still as Mara closed the distance between us, the familiar scent of her perfume mingling with the musky aroma of fear that clung to my skin.
“Kneel,” she commanded, the word a whip c**k that snapped through the air.
My legs shook as I complied, the rough texture of the carpet biting into my bare knees as I sank to the floor. My heart pounded in my chest, my mind racing with terror as Mara loomed over me, her expression cool and calculating.
“Now, I have a task for you,” Mara said, the words soft and silky, like a snake coiling around its prey “I want you to massage my feet. I’ve been walking all day, and they’re positively aching!
I could feel the bile rising in my throat at the thought of touching her, but I dared not hesitate. Slowly, I reached out, taking one of her slender, perfectly manicured feet in my hand.
I fought back the urge to recoil as my fingers brushed against Mara’s skin, the sensation icy and unnatural. Her foot was cold and clammy, the thin straps of her sandals digging into my palmas I began to massage her arch.
“Mmm, that’s it,” she purred, her voice a cruel mockery of pleasure. “A little harder, dear. My feet deserve a good pampering
I obeyed, gritting my teeth as I dug my fingers into her skin, my mind a whirl of fear and disgust.
As I worked, Mara’s voice droned on, a constant stream of commentary that seemed to grate against my nerves like sandpaper.
“I’m curious, my dear,” she said, her gaze fixed on the ceiling, as if she were lost in thought. “How did you end up here, in this little backwater pack, with nothing but your subservience to offer?”
I swallowed hard, struggling to keep my voice steady and not rip outvher f**g mouth!
