Chapter 126
I trudged through the front door, dropping my purse onto the floor with a sigh that seemed to come from the depths of my soul. Another day, another dollar, another moment spent without Aston by my side. It was not the first time he was travelling for this long but this time, he had left me with the one person I despised more than anyone else – Brax.
Brax, was a nightmare. I had no idea why Aston thought it was a good idea to leave him in charge, but I was furious. Brax thought he could order me around just because Aston wasn’t here. Newsflash, Brax: I wasn’t some obedient little puppy who would do your bidding.
I walked into the living room, where Brax was sprawled out on the couch, playing video games like he didn’t have a care in the world. The TV was blaring, and the room was a mess. I could see pizza boxes and soda cans s***red everywhere. It was
ve a tornado had hit.
“Hey, Mara,” he said, not even bothering to look up. “I told you to pick up some groceries on your way home.” I didn’t know how but Brax had managed to give all the workers in the palace a f***g paid break and that included my personal maid. If this wasn’t evil then I didn’t know what was
How was I supposed to cook and clean the house all by myself when he was constantly making a mess?
I rolled my eyes. “I didn’t see that on the list, Brax.” I tried to keep my tone neutral, but it was hard. I was seething inside.
He finally looked up, a smirk on his face. “Well, I’m telling you now. And don’t forget to make dinner. I’m starving.” He went back to his game, like I was his personal se***nt
Who did he think he was, ordering me around like this? I wasn’t his personal se***nt. I was Aston’s mate, his equal. But I bit my tongue, knowing that arguing with Brax would only lead to more trouble.
Fine. I would play along. For now. But I was counting down the days until Aston came home and took Brax off my hands. I couldn’t wait to see the back of him
I headed to the kitchen to start on dinner, my mind spinning with thoughts of Aston and where he was. Was he with Kira? Was he happy? I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on cooking, trying to distract myself from the frustration that was building up inside me.
I slammed the pot down on the stove, my frustration boiling over like the water inside. Where was Aston? Why wasn’t he responding to my messages? I had been trying to reach him for hours, but he was nowhere to be found.
I couldn’t take it anymore. I was considering running out of the house and corning back when Aston was back. I couldn’t deal with Brax’s attitude and Aston’s silence. It was about to drive me crazy. I felt like I was losing my mind, trapped in this never-ending cycle of frustration and anger
I thought about Kira. What was she doing with him? Were they f****g? I felt a pang of jealousy, which only added to my frustration. I didn’t know why I was feeling this way. I trusted Aston, didn’t I? No, I didn’t.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. I couldn’t let my emotions get the best of me. But it was hard. I felt like I was drowning in confusion. I didn’t know what was going on with Aston, and it was killing me.
Was he thinking about me? Did he even care that I was struggling here with Brax? Lfelt a tear roll down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it away. I wasn’t going to cry. I was stronger than that.
I paced back and forth in the living room, trying to burn off some of my energy. But it wasn’t working. I was still seething with anger and frustration. I felt like I was going to explode.
Finally, I stopped pacing and looked at Brax, who was still playing video games on the couch. “I’m going for a walk,” I said,
smirk on his face. “Okay, Mara Don’t get lost.
Brax looked up. a
As I entered the living room, I saw Brax lounging on the couch, his eyes fixed on the TV. I knew I had to act fast. I couldn’t let him ruin my chances with Aston.
“Brax, we need to talk,” I said, my voice firm but controlled.
He looked up at me, a hint of annoyance in his eyes. “What’s up. Mara?”
“I think it’s time for you to leave.” I said, my words direct and to the point.
Brax raised an eyebrow. “You think so?” his voice dripped with sarcasm. I knew he wasn’t taking me seriously.
“Because this house can’t contain the two of us,” I replied, my patience wearing thin. “And I won’t let you ruin my chances with Aston.
Brax snorted. “You think you have a chance with him? He’s with Kira now,”
“Even if it’s true, I still want you out of here so I can get him back.”
Brax shrugged. “Yeah right, Mara, go find something else to do if you’re bored. I’m sure I have some clothes that could use some laundering.
I couldn’t take it anymore.
“Just because I’m being nice to you doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know your place. When I become Luna, you’ll be the first. thing that leaves this house.” I screamed at him and I seemed to get his full attention now.
The argument escalated.
“Tve had it with you thinking you’re all that. The only reason you’re still here is because I allow it and guess what? I no longer allow it.”
“What?”
“You need to leave, Mara!” Brax shouted, his face red with rage. I’m staying here, and you’re not welcome! You’re just a guest, and you’ve overstayed your welcome.”
“You think you can kick me out? I’m the one who’s household. You’re not even capable of leading yourself.”
going to be the Luna, Brax. Not you. You’re never going to rule over this
Brax sneered. “You think you’re better than me? You need to think again. Just because I’m not the Alpha doesn’t mean I can’t put you through hell”
1 laughed. “You’re pathetic. You’re a joke.”
Brax’s face turned purple with rage. “How dare you!” he shouted, his fists clenched. “I’ll show you who’s pathetic. Get out of my house, Mara Now. Before I throw you out myself”
I smiled, though it was fake. “This isn’t your house, Brax. And I’m not leaving. But I will leave for now, just to give you a false sense of security. Because when I come back, I’m taking over. And there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
I left the house before things would get physical, I stood no chance against Brax on my own and no one was going to be around to witness my death. Brax’s anger was nothing compared to the fury that was building inside me though but our strengths were not the same and the odds were stacked up against me.
I was going to take back what was rightfully mime, and no one was going to stand in my way. I was going to show Brax, and everyone else, what I was truly capable of.
My hands trembled with rage as I typed out the message on my phone. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. Brax, that arrogant, entitled brat, had actually kicked me out of the house. And Aston was nowhere to be found, too busy enjoying himself with that that maid. Kira. The name made my blood boil.
I took a deep breath and focused on the message. I needed to make Austin know exactly what was going on. I needed to make sure he knew how I felt.
“Aston, it’s Mara: I’m writing to you with a mix of anger and sadness. I’ve been kicked out of the house by your precious brother Brax. Yes, you licard that right. He’s taken over and thrown me out. And where are you? Off enjoying yourself with Kira, no doubt. I hope you’re happy. I hope you’re getting everything you want.
But let me make one thing clear if you still value me, if you still want anything to do with me, then you need to contact me. Now. I’m not going to wait around for you to come crawling back when you realize what a mistake you’ve made. I deserve better than that.
I deserve better than to be treated like this. I deserve better than to be thrown out of the house like some kind of s***nt. And if you can’t see that, then maybe we’re not meant to be together after all.
Maybe you’re just like your brother, too blind to see what’s right in front of you. Maybe you’re just too caught up in your own little world to care about anyone else’s feelings.
But I hope not. I hope you’re better than that. I hope you’ll come to your senses and realize what you’re losing
So, Aston, if you want me, if you want us, then you need to act fast. Contact me. Now. Before it’s too late.”
I hesitated for a moment before hitting send. I felt so **d having to wait on Aston to fight back when I could just set the f***g house on fire.
