Carmine was shaking after her interaction with Theo. Tears streamed down her face even as she kept wiping them with the back of her hand. Her attraction to him was so intense that she hated herself. It was impossible for her to go back that way. Despite the bright sunny day, the prospect of a new day held no appeal. She wanted to climb back into her bed and cry her heart out. Beneath her blanket, it was safe. The ugly truth she witnessed two days back didn’t disturb her in the darkness.
Joseph was sitting on his bed having clear coriander soup. He looked healthy, but a little shaken. “Carmine!” he said excitedly as soon as she entered the room. He got up from the bed and hugged her tightly. “Girl, I was so worried! Where were you? Are you okay? I think we need to talk!” He pulled away and placed his hands on her shoulders. “And why are you crying?” he asked, his face creased up with worry.
She chuckled at his flurry of questions. “I am sorry for not keeping you informed, but we have to talk about this.”
His eyes widened. “What do you mean? Did you know about this werewolf stuff?”
She pursed her l*ps and walked towards the sofa beside the window. With a sigh, she nodded. “I knew about it because I am also a werewolf.”
Joseph appeared on the verge of fainting. He clutched the side of the bed as if to stop. himself from falling. “You are a-” he couldn’t even complete the sentence. “Oh. My. Go d!”
Carmine’s l*ps lifted into a smile. “Don’t look so frightened, Joseph,” she said.
“You guys like to shift into a wolf and all?” he asked, bewildered.
“Yes, we do, but my wolf is sleeping. I haven’t shifted in like-“her throat choked with emotions. “I will tell you everything about us, but you promise you won’t reveal about us to anyone? The werewolf community is a small secret.”
Joseph took a deep breath in as he tried to process the shock. “What if I reveal?”
“You will be killed,” she shrugged. “Or worse. You will be haunted by Hunters. throughout your life.”
“Sh it!”
“Don’t be so alarmed,” she said in a soft voice. “We don’t bite.”
“Sure?”
She laughed. “Of course. No one bites you just like that, okay?”

He shook his head and climbed on the bed. “Please tell me everything I need to know.”
At his insistence, Carmine revealed the world of werewolves for him. He listened to her with rapt attention and once she finished, he couldn’t help being amazed by it. “Can I be a part of this wonderful community, Carmine?” he asked enthusiastically.
“You already are,” she smiled softly at him. “Remember, we have a boutique to run?”
Grinning, he wasted no time and asked, “What are your intentions with it? I believe we really have to start anew.”
Her shoulders slouched. “Yes… I was thinking if we can go somewhere far from here and
Suddenly, Joseph’s phone buzzed. “Just a sec, Carmine.” He picked up the phone and Carmine heard him speaking, “Yes, this is Joseph.” “But I didn’t ask!” “Oh!” His brows furrowed. “Really?” His mouth dropped. “F ucking lord!” he said, straightening his spine. “Well, thank you so much! I’ll see you soon.”
“What was it?” Carmine asked with a frown.
“That was a real estate agent. He claimed to have the ideal location for our boutique.”
“Whoa! How did he know about us?”
Joseph shrugged. “He saw you at the ball and learned that you have a passion for creating wedding dresses and accessories. He mentioned the absence of a wedding boutique in the entire pack and the surrounding vicinity. Our idea is unique, and he’s willing to offer us a space in his mall if we’re interested. Maybe he will also invest.”
It was Carmine’s turn to be surprised. She blinked her eyes once, then twice. “This is incredible!” she croaked.
“I know, right?” Joseph was still staring at his phone with wide eyes.
“When do we go to see the space?”
“He has called us by 5PM.”
Carmine grinned. The opportunity promised a level of freedom she couldn’t even imagine. “Let’s go!”
She had coffee and breakfast with Joseph and talked about the new space.
“Alpha Theo!” Thor jumped up in his father’s arms. Theo arrived at the school to pick him up.
his pup as always.
“I am fine,” he replied with a grin. “Did you talk to my mommy?”
Theo pursed his l*ps. “She doesn’t want to talk to me.” He opened the car’s door and Thor jumped inside.
“That’s bad…” Thor commented. After a few minutes, he said, “I have an idea.”
Theo chuckled as he started the engine. “What idea?”
“To make mommy talk to you.”
“Ah! Let me hear.”
Thor narrowed his eyes as a crease formed in between his eyes. “Why don’t we go. camping?”
Theo raised an eyebrow. “Camping?”
“Yes,” Thor nodded. “We can go camping. Since there won’t be many people to talk to, she’ll end up talking to only you.”
“Hmm…” Goddess, his pup was super intelligent. “Okay. How about this weekend?”
“Perfect!” Thor chirped. “I will also come.”
Theo laughed and ruffled his hair. “Of course, I can’t go without you.”
Upon reaching home, they noticed Carmine standing on the porch, nervously biting her l*ps. She saw Thor jumping out of the car with an ice cream and a big grin. “What did I say about coming home by your bus?” she scolded him, taking his satchel.
“But mommy, the school bus said I could come with Alpha Theo. I can’t ignore Alpha Theo’s orders, can I?” Saying that, he licked his ice cream, grinned at her and danced his way to his room..
Carmine narrowed her eyes at her son, gritting her teeth.
Alpha Theo sauntered to her, twirling his keys on his index finger. “Hey Carmine!”
She avoided him and walked inside. He grabbed her by her arm and pulled her sharply towards him. Before she could protest, his l*ps slammed on hers. To stop herself from falling, she clutched his shirt as he devoured her. She whimpered at the contact and, to her mortification, she even moaned. After he pulled away, he smacked his l*ps and licked them. Just as she was about to yell at him, Alpha Theo hurried inside. “You don’t get to k*ss me!” she shouted, nonetheless. A few serva nts who were passing by giggled.

Her cheeks turned pink, and she vowed never to give in to his desires again.
“We’ve received Alpha Kade’s reply,” Winn said on the phone.
Alpha Theo had just entered his room to discuss Carmine’s office space with Winn when he received a call from Winn. All his beautiful thoughts vanished hearing the name of his nemesis. “What did he say?”
“He messaged me, claiming that Ed was his spy, but he’d gone rogue. It had been ages since they last spoke, and Ed was on his own. It’s possible that he was trying to take advantage of Carmine being alone.”
“The sly bas t ard!” Theo cursed. He was sure that Ed worked on Kade’s instructions.
“So what do you plan on doing now?” Winn asked.
“Send him the message back: We believe Ed worked on your instruction. So, if you’re serious about clearing your name, you must go to the borders of the Blue Moon pack and complete the initiation ceremony this weekend. I will shortly send the coordinates.”
