Chapter 20
Carmine’s l*ps parted in a soft exhale as her cheeks dusted his favorite pink. “A-are you sure?” she asked. When he frowned, she added, “I-I don’t want, I can’t-
“Relax,” he stopped her racing thought with his gentle voice. “I will not touch you unless you ask for it.”
Her blush deepened, and she lowered her eyelids. “Okay… But how do you plan to get out this ball? I feel your presence over here is much-needed.”
He chuckled. “It won’t be difficult.” He mind-linked with his Beta. Next instant, Winn came to him, covering the room in his large strides.
“Alpha Theo,” he said, giving her a quick glance. “We need you for an urgent meeting in the library.”
Theo nodded at his Beta, and then he did what no one expected him to do. He held Carmine’s hand tightly in his large one and walked out of the hall. Everyone watched them going, including a very frustrated Kade. Not able to take it, he marched towards. them even though Ruby rushed after him to stop making a mess of the situation. If he confronted Alpha Theo over Carmine, she was sure that by tomorrow it would become. the favorite gossip of the packs. Not only that, she would be highly embarrassed. The moment she caught his hand, he growled at her and snagged it away.
“Alpha Theo!” Kade finally caught up with him when they reached outside the main hall.
Theo stopped in his tracks, his grip tightening on Carmine. He didn’t like Kade, and he certainly didn’t like his intrusion. “What do you want?” he almost growled as he hid Carmine behind him.
Kade matched his confidence level, stifling his discomfort. “This is about Carmine.”
Theo’s wolf tried to come to the surface at the mention of his mate from his worst. enemy because he wanted to claw him and rip him into pieces. His eyes flashed golden, and Theo did everything to control Thunder. He narrowed his eyes to slits. “What about her?”
Kade took a deep breath in as he looked at Carmine, who was half-hiding behind Theo. He was going to take her away, no matter what. His wolf was restless without her. Had been like that for five years. “Carmine was a rogue who was found by my pack. I brought her to my pack and tried to help her in the best possible way.”
Carmine’s eyes went wide with shock at how Kade was sugarcoating his encounter with

her.

“And that’s why Carmine belongs to my pack according to the laws. She should be returned to me.”
When Carmine’s heart picked up the beat, Theo couldn’t miss it. He knew that Alpha Kade was right about the laws, but he would not leave Carmine. From what he knew, Kade was an arrogant pri ck, and it was his wife who must be pushing him to take Carmine to their pack. Ruby was probably hoping that Carmine would become her personal se rvant. At the same time, he couldn’t think of a reason as to why he found Carmine in Kade’s lodge that night. Was he

chest.
“Did you forget Alpha Kade, that your pack comes under mine?” he almost snarled.
Kade clenched his jaw. “Still, there has to be an initiation ceremony if you want her to be included in your pack.” He knew he had to try because if Theo took her, chances were, he would never see her again.
Theo co cked his head as he sized un Kade. “I see you are well-versed in laws. Well, if that is the case, I will personally escort Carmine to the Blue Moon pack for the initiation ceremony. I hope that is fine with you.”
Now Kade couldn’t say anything. If Alpha Supreme has said something, that usually was a line etched in stone. He glanced at Carmine, who appeared to be frozen at her spot. “As you say, Alpha Supreme,” he replied. “But I believe you have to bring her in the next week or sooner because after that I am sure Elders won’t like it.”
“Are you threatening me, Alpha Kade? Because the last I remember, you made no efforts to find Carmine after she escaped your pack. And now that you are seeing her. you are explaining the pack laws to me? I am getting suspicious about your intentions.”
Dread slithered down his spine because he couldn’t reveal it in front of everyone that Carmine was his mate. Yet back when he was in the hall and she was dancing with Alpha Theo, he noticed how all the young and unmated Alphas looked at her with pure desire in their eyes. Carmine was too beautiful to be unnoticed. Perhaps she was the most beautiful amongst all she-wolves. He got jealous to the level that he had to dig his nails. into his palms to stay calm. Ruby had tried several times to touch him or talk to him, but he remained quiet, his eyes glued to Carmine.
He didn’t know why, but over the past five years, Carmine had matured and her b*dy filled in all the right places. That made him lust after her all the more. Even Ruby wasn’t so enticing.
“There are no mal intentions,” he said in calculated words. “It’s just that I want to do thing legally.”

“I see,” Theo scoffed. “I will let you know when I come with her to your pack.” Saying that, Theo walked away with Carmine to where he wanted her to be. Away from everyone’s eyes.

When they reached the library, Carmine loosed a breath. She couldn’t believe that Kade had cunn ingly called her to the Blue Moon pack. She wanted to do nothing with him. Her tension was so apparent that she felt like her heart would explode.
“Sit,” Theo’s deep yet soft voice made her jump.
It was then that she noticed they had come to the library. She gave him a tight smile and went to sit on the couch. She looked around at the library, which was probably as big as the apartment she lived in. Smell of leather hit her nose as she noticed the tall. shelves that were full of books. A fire burning in the hearth imparted a soft glow on the walls. “This is a lovely place,” she remarked. This place reeked of wealth. Everything wast so tastefully done that she couldn’t help feeling impressed.
For Theo, it was impossible not to touch her, breathe her intoxicating scent, or keep looking at her. She was his mate and unclaimed. His wolf wanted to mark her like yesterday. It made him and his wolf edgy. The tug-in the chest, in the stomach-was frighteningly strong. Almost gravitational.
“Thank you,” he breathed as he walked to the mantle to pour wine from the decanter. He returned to her with wine. “I hope you like red wine.” She nodded. As she took the wine from him, her fingers brushed hers and electricity zinged through him. He sat down in barely three feet from her, pulling a chair from the side and looked at her with a question in his eyes.
“Alpha Theo,” she started. “I don’t want to go to the Blue Moon pack,” she came straight to the point.
A smirk crossed his l*ps. “Done!”
“What do I have to give you in return?” she asked, surprised that he agreed to her so fast. He didn’t even ask her questions, which she was expecting.
“Well-” he scratched his jaw.
