Choices of the Moon Book 2 : the human and the wolf

Chapter 1

Thalyssa

It had been 25 years since my marriage to Gerald, we were having our silver wedding anniversary in a few weeks. We had our girl Ellie who was already 24 years old, I liked to say that she was similar to me, in shape, size, and physiognomy, but she had her father's hair and eyes, and the tone of blonde was identical to Gerald's and her eyes hers were more greenish, after some time we had Charles, our boy who had just turned 12, he was already the spitting image of Gerald, but he had my brown hair and gray eyes, he was born and with him a prophecy, but for our luck was not like his father's, Charles' prophecy was beautiful:

About the glory of a winner

This Alpha will rule,

Leading his people to salvation,

The truth will emerge at the right time,

Along with the love of a revelation,

And there the new era will follow in sight,

Gerald and I ruled side by side all these years, Troy discovered his mate Janeth two years after our wedding, they had been together for over 20 years, and they had Jaqueline, a sweet girl who became Ellie's best friend, Ellie, Jaqueline and Clair, the daughter of Alpha Conrad were an inseparable trio.

Ellie had gone to business school and was working in our office, learning the administrative aspects of the Pack. She hadn't taken on any role yet, but we knew she was bothered by it. She was our first daughter, but she was a woman, it was very unusual for the alpha's female daughter to take on a leadership role, sometimes as a Beta, but in her case there was still Jaqueline, who was really the daughter of the Betas, and there is still the possibility of Charlie choosing someone else as his Beta.

He had been born with the prophecy, and since he was a child he already demonstrated his alpha leadership characteristics, Ellie never had a problem with that, she never wanted to be Alpha, but she was bothered by the fact that she didn't have a mate yet, she had 3 dances without finding her life mate, and the girls her age were almost all already engaged or married, and she being an Alpha wolf, the mate often determines the role she will play in a Pack, and this wait was killing her of anxiety.

And she still had the possibility of being a mate with a single alpha in the region, which she had already confided in me made her shiver with fear, but it didn't depend on what it was, our solution was to wait...

Charles was already doing Alpha training, Gerald put him to train with the guard in the afternoon after class, and in the evening he studied theory and administration with me, Gerald, and Ellie.

Today in particular, Gerald and I were looking at some details for the vow renewal party, when Charles arrived, always loving, he kissed me on the cheek and hugged Ellie.

"Ellie dear, help your mother with the entry order, I'm going to see how your brother's training went," Gerald said, taking Charles' backpack and excitedly starting to tell him about the moves he learned today and going to the balcony.

"Of course, Dad," Ellie said sighing, taking Gerald's place at the table, but I knew she wasn't well.

"What's wrong, daughter?" I asked, placing my hand on hers, and her green eyes lifted to look at me, I felt my chest fill with worry, and I heard Gerald ask me: what happened?, my gaze moved away from my daughter and I looked at him to give a curt nod and respond: leave it to me.

"I'm just disappointed..." Ellie told me, holding my hand. "You guys always talked about this renewal, and I imagined that I would be with my mate by then, I created this expectation in my head, and your renewal will be before the next Ball, and I'm still alone..."

"Dear." I wish I had the power to take her pain away with my hands.

"And there's all this pressure, I know that people expect me to take on some role, I could be Charles' beta and… " I saw a tear slip into the corner of her eyes.

"Ellie, you don't need to worry about that, your father and I already said that you need to follow your destiny and your career, you don't need to wait for a mate for that. It took your father 6 balls until he found me, and it was another 3 years after that to be together…"

"I know, Mom, but it would be so much easier if I had everything mapped out like Charles, or if I already had at least that defined…" She said wiping her tears with the back of her hands.

I remembered how lost I felt while waiting to discover my mate, and how desperate it was when Gerald rejected me, I just didn't want her to go through any of that.

"You're going to join your brother in the renewal, okay? And try to get those worries out of your head, we still have a lot of balls ahead of us, and we're going to find whoever is lucky enough to be your mate…"

Gerald entered the room with Charles and knowing about the conversation through my connection with him, he just kissed the top of Ellie's head.

"Don't worry about these things, dear, do your job and the Moon will take care of finding your mate." He said, squeezing our daughter's shoulder and heading towards the bar to get a shot of whiskey.

Two knocks on the door interrupted our conversation when Jaqueline's sweet voice appeared.

"Alphas, excuse me, I wanted to speak to Ellie for a moment," Jaqueline said, entering slowly.

"Of course dear," I said smiling.

"Come on in," Gerald said and Ellie quickly got up and ran to hug her friend.

They talked and I only heard whispers, and then I heard Ellie say softly:

"They will never let us…" She said and my gaze went to Gerald, knowing without a doubt that they were talking about the two of us… Then Jaqueline approached with her hands behind her body.

"Alphas, I came to ask Ellie out, but she thinks you won't let me…" Jaqueline started to say and I saw Gerald raise an eyebrow.

"Why wouldn't we let us?"

"Because it's a human ballad." At that moment I saw Gerald choking on the whiskey he was drinking... "Clair got tickets, a DJ we like will play, and the three of us will go..."

No way.

Gerald said in my head.

It would be good for her to think about something else, Ellie is stressed, so going out might help.

We have a club in here, why don't they go there?

Because the same people always come, new people can be good...

"You can stop talking inside your heads, I know you won't let me…" Ellie said coming up from behind Jaqueline, "I said they wouldn't let me…" She spoke to her friend now.

"Okay, just this time," Gerald said drinking the rest of the whiskey.

I hope I don't regret this...

Gerald said in thought to me, and I just nodded.

Now I saw Ellie widen her eyes and jump into my embrace.

I felt her relieved.

She needed this...

Just the beginning of the story, in the next few days we will have daily updates, I hope you like them.
