chapter 6
Chapter 6
Aaron frowned, looking visibly annoyed. “How long are you going to keep this up? Our daughter loved me most as her father. Did you hide her from me?”
Oh, so Aaron knows that our daughter loved him most. Yet he was less caring than a stranger.
“Anna! Even if you’re upset with me, how can you not bring the child to meet her grandparents?” Rita seized the opportunity to speak, drawing agreement from everyone.
“Rita! Stop pretending to be considerate! The day Aaron took you and Ronnie to the hospital, I told him our daughter was having an allergic shock!”

“Aaron! You knew our daughter was allergic to chocolate. Why did you buy her a chocolate
cake?”
I cried out loud, and Aaron’s face grew pale.
The room fell silent, with no one daring to speak.
“It’s impossible! Even if it was an allergy, she’d be fine if she was taken to the hospital in time!” Aaron protested.
“Yes, but we had no car to get to the hospital! In that heavy rain, I had to desperately flag down a vehicle.”
I mocked, and Aaron’s face turned red. I knew he

remembered–remembered my injured leg, my soaked hair, and the man who showed up at the hospital!
“Even before she died, she wanted to see you one last time, but you heartlessly hung up the phone! For the sake of this woman’s child!”
“Impossible! You must be lying!” Aaron was angry but still refused to believe it. He was deceiving himself!
“Anna! We’ve been married for years. Let’s talk this over calmly and not use the child as leverage. Tell me where my daughter is.” Aaron pleaded softly.
After all these years of marriage, it was the first time Aaron had backed down.

I sneered and threw the death certificate of our
daughter at him.
Aaron’s hands trembled as he held the
certificate, and tears began to flow down his
face.
Aaron’s parents and everyone present were shocked. It was real!
“What on earth happened? It was just an allergy, right? How could my precious granddaughter have died?” Aaron’s father clutched his chest, visibly agitated.
“What happened? Oh, Mr. Roberts, your precious son repeatedly thought I was lying to him, turned off his phone to avoid me, and

preferred to take the feverish Ronnie to the hospital instead of taking your granddaughter!”
Aaron’s father’s face turned extremely grim. “Impossible. I even prepared gifts for my dear granddaughter.”
Aaron was deeply affected, his eyes filled with tears. “Anna, we’ve lost our daughter.”
“That was my daughter! She said she didn’t want you as her father anymore!” I wildly slapped Aaron, venting my anger.
Rita seemed somewhat pleased about my daughter’s death. After all, with my daughter gone, all the Roberts Family assets would pass to her own child once she became Mrs. Roberts.
But she was too hasty, “Aaron, don’t be too sad!

This isn’t just your fault; isn’t Anna at fault too?”
Aaron turned to her, “What fault does Anna
have?”
“If she hadn’t insisted that you celebrate your daughter’s birthday, she wouldn’t have died!” Rita argued persuasively.
I was so enraged that I wanted to attack her, but before I could make a move, Aaron slapped Rita hard across the face. “Shut up! This is all my fault. I should have been more careful!”
Rita covered her face, looking disheveled. Ronnie, scared, cried loudly, and Rita, venting her frustration, pushed him to the ground.
Rita didn’t deserve to be a mother; she treated

Ronnie merely as a tool for gaining favor.
I watched the scene with a blank expression, feeling utterly exhausted. I signaled Aaron again to sign the divorce agreement.
But Aaron was unwilling and begged me desperately. Seeing his anguished expression, I said, “If you still care about our daughter, let me
go.”
In–the end, Aaron, in despair, signed the divorce
agreement.
