Chapter 13
The next day, I felt like escaping because I have to visit Zendejas' residence like what my parents wanted me to do. With an irritation evident on my face, I was forced to wear an elegant off-shoulder white dress. Once again, my parents have urged me to wear something nice, and to apologize to Evan for the mess I have created yesterday. That arrogant man, I could not even imagine myself apologizing to him because he is too cruel to me.
I could just simply visit him at his office today however; my parents have learned that he's on day off until tomorrow. According to daddy, Riley will be the one to accompany me to Evan's house and if I'd do something awful during my visit, he would know it immediately.
I heaved a sigh and just wore my black stilettos and then I also put a light make up on my face to make sure I am still presentable. Regardless of how I feel towards this situation and even though I do not want to visit that ruthless guy, I will still choose to be beautiful. I don't want to be a certified loser in front of him.
The sun is already up when I went outside, waiting for our family car. After a few minutes, our limousine stopped in front of me with Riley who is inside, as my driver. He went out and gracefully walked towards the passenger's seat door and opened it for me.
I hopped in the car and let Riley closed the door beside me. I waited for him to get into the driver's seat.
"Does Evan know that I will visit him at home today?" I hesitantly asked Riley.
"He knew about it, Miss Nathalie. Sir Frank has called him this morning to inform him that you will be visiting him at his house," Riley answered formally and then he started the engine of our limousine.
I let out a heavy sigh.
Seriously? What's going on with my life? Do I really have to exert some effort and visit that jerk just to apologize? This is not making any sense to me.
Silenced engulfed me as I watched the streets disappearing as we drove our way to his house. Deep within my heart, I could really feel how anxious I am because of this damn visitation. My heart feels heavy and uncomfortable knowing I would see him again.
I am wondering how he is going to react about this. What is he going to say? I was the one who swore that he will be the one chasing me. Ironically, I am the one who will see him first this time.
This is really crazy. I do not want to end up eating my words but looks like it's going to happen. I pinched the bridge of my nose and just prayed this day would end so soon.
This is just a nightmare. I hope I wake up too soon! Damn it!

I gazed up the tall and white coloured metalled gate in front of me. It is almost lunch time and when we arrived at Zendejas' residence and I would really say that they are freaking rich based on the design of their gate!
I fisted my hand as I watched the gate opening automatically for us so our car could go in further. The path going to the front yard of the mansion is filled with different plants, flowers and trees. What a great landscaping design! There is also a
big statue of a lion in the middle part of the pathway and there is a fountain behind it. The car drove its way to the main entrance of Zendejas' mansion; where there is a huge stairs going to the main double doors.
Riley went out first and then he walked towards the door beside me and opened it. I inhaled heavily and then went out of the car.
To be honest, I was really amazed when I realized how great this place is. So, this is where he lives... From the outside, the place really looked like a modern museum.
Now, I felt the fast beating of my heart. My chest tightened that I had to breathe in multiple times to compose myself.
The truth became clearer to me. Evan Zendejas is really a filthy rich man, and he has all the rights to be proud of it. My family is rich too, but not the kind of rich as like their family's level.
I was standing beside our limousine, very anxious as to how I am going to take a move. I feel so low and shy now that the truth hit my head so bad.
My heart skipped a beat when the double doors of their mansion have opened. I looked at the door and saw a beautiful woman in her short black hair. She's kind of smaller than me but she has an angelic eyes and a white skin. She looked like red riding hood though... She walked towards me with a sweet smile flashing on her lips.
"Nathalie Saavedra, right?" She sweetly asked.
I blinked my eyes twice. This woman is really pretty up this close. I nodded slowly and tried to calm my heart a bit. I could not help but to admire her pretty face!
"Hi! My name is Samantha Zendejas. I am Evan's younger sister," she introduced herself to me and then offered her hand.
I was surprised by that. This angelic woman in front of me is no other than Evan's younger sister! How could she become a demon's sibling? She's truly an angel!
My mouth was left opened but I was able to get a grasp on my situation and held her hand. We shook hands and I swore I can't even stop observing her graceful moves. This girl looks very soft. I thought Evan's siblings are also like him- evil and cruel. Perhaps I was really wrong to even think about that. I mean, by just looking at Samantha, it feels like she descended from heaven.
"I am glad that you finally visited our home. My mom told me so many things about you. I kept asking my brother to let you visit this house as I wanted to see you but he said you were busy." She said and then giggled. "Anyway, my brother is inside. Come with me."
"Yeah, sure..." I replied shyly.
The fear inside my chest became more evident. I followed Samantha as we went inside their mansion. I kept breathing heavily to shoo away this fear I am feeling. This is not the right time to be scared because I will be facing the demon in my life! I have to be strong and courageous.
"Our parents are not home at the moment because they have some business to attend to in Japan. By the way, we are siblings of three. I have a twin sister. Her name is Savannah and she is currently living in the United States. Now, I am wondering whether my brother have told you about us or not." She smiled as we entered in the receiving area of their mansion.
"To be honest with you, we are not that close," I said, uncomfortable.
She chuckled and nodded slowly. "Well, I expected that already, Nathalie. I mean, given my brother's attitude, he is for sure a headache to you. But I hope you still stick with him. He is kind, and if you would give him a few chances and get to know him better, you would later on understand where he is coming from."
"Well, only if he let me know him better, you know..."
She giggled and nodded as if she is agreeing to what I just said.
"He is really a snob and most of time a cruel guy to everyone. No worries, I am confident that his attitude will change eventually. I know you would be able to change him..."
I got confused with what she said that my forehead creased abruptly. The amusement in her eyes became more visible and so she only laughed at me. After our small talk in the living room, she held me in my arm and toured me around. I am still in awe as it appears that all the household furniture were all expensive and elegant.
We went to their living room and I noticed the huge portraits hanging on the white wall. The first portrait was the wedding photo of their parents.
Evan resembled his father while Samantha got mixed facial features from both of their parents.
The other portrait on the left side was the photo of Evan, Samantha and Savannah. I stared at Savannah for a few seconds. She has a more sophisticated looks than Samantha, who seemed very soft and innocent. I just realized that they are fraternal twins.
"That is my twin sister, Savannah." Samantha said when she noticed that I was staring at her twin sister's face.
"Who is the eldest between the two of you?" I asked curiously and glanced at her.
She looked very joyful. She was smiling from ear to ear as she also gazed up at their portrait. Her aura is too positive unlike Evan's brooding personality.
"Savannah is my elder sister. Unfortunately, she is not here. She would be very happy to meet you, Nathalie. We are both dying to see our brother's fiancée. Evan is just really selfish and wouldn't even let us meet you." She giggled.
"I hope you do not expect too much," I said shyly. "Evan and I are not getting along very well. I do not want to give you high hopes on us."
She nodded but her lips flashed a playful smile. "Well, it is too early to say that. We'll never know how what will happen eventually."
I shrugged. For me, whatever happens between the two of us, it would only happen because we have businesses that need to grow. My parents have dreamed of this for the longest time and I only wanted to fulfil it because that is my purpose. Evan has the same opinion too. This marriage for convenience, the merging of our businesses and even dealing with me are all part of this negotiation with our family.
I should have the same state of mind.
"My brother is in the pool area right now. He's taking his morning dip. Are you ready to see him?" Samantha asked me with a smile.
I swallowed the fear lingering in my chest.
Get yourself ready, Nathalie.
