Chasing His Runaway Wife by Jamie Stones ( Tabitha Jarvis )

Chapter 123

Chapter 123

Although Imogen was smart and quirky, her personality was a little cunning. The act of her accusing Malcolm was to please Emmanuel, but in fact, she really liked Tabitha very much, who was gentle and quiet.

Imogen clung to Tabitha the whole time, asking her to tell her some fairy tales.

Tabitha did not refuse and told the child the story of “The Princess and the Pea” in a gentle manner.

Imogen leaned into Tabitha’s embrace and felt that it smelled nice and soft, like the kind of hug she yearned for every time in her dreams.

Later on, Tabitha told Imogen the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

After finishing the story, Tabitha told Imogen, “The boy who had lied all the time ended up with no adults willing to believe him, even hating him.”

Imogen immediately asked nervously, “Tabby, will you believe in me forever?”

“Well, do you have any confession to tell me now, Imogen?” Tabitha asked with a smile. “Let’s exchange secrets. I won’t let anyone know about them.”

“I’ll tell you one. That weird sir actually didn’t steal my lollipop. He also didn’t break my fish tank that day,” Imogen whispered while drooping her eyes, showing a face that she was admitting her mistake. “Tabby, please don’t hate me.”

“It’s good that you can admit and correct your mistakes. You are a good girl,” Tabitha said gently. “But don’t do such things again, got it?”

Imogen hurriedly nodded and replied, “Got it.”

Emmanuel and Malcolm were sitting not far away, watching the other two

playing.

Emmanuel inadvertently whispered, “Tabitha seems to really like. children.”

His words, once again, stabbed Malcolm in the heart.

Tabitha loved children very much, but Malcolm knew he caused her to lose her baby.

Malcolm clenched his fists and ignored Emmanuel.

Imogen played with Tabitha for a long time.

The child finally left reluctantly with Emmanuel when it was time for Tabitha to take her medicine and rest..

Even after Emmanuel and Imogen had left, Malcolm still stood still in place.

Tabitha glanced at Malcolm. It was obvious that she also wanted him gone, but Malcolm did not budge as if he did not understand the meaning in Tabitha’s gaze.

He pursed his mouth and suddenly said, “I didn’t.”

Tabitha looked at him indifferently but remained silent.

Malcolm said again, “I didn’t steal that little girl’s lollipop. I didn’t break her fish tank yesterday, either.”

Malcolm’s voice sounded tense, showing a faint sense of dispiriting and grievance as if he had been slandered.

Tabitha nodded gently and replied, “I know.”

Malcolm was stunned when he replied, “You know? But you…”

“There’s no need to argue about this with a child,” Tabitha muttered. She

seemed to have no intention of communicating further, showing an unconcerned manner about whether Malcolm really did all of those.

Tabitha’s reaction made Malcolm a little depressed. An inexplicable emotion suddenly surged in his mind, and he blurted out uncontrollably, “It was Emmanuel who taught her for all her actions.”

He never had intentions to report behind someone’s back, but at the same time, he also did not want Tabitha to misunderstand him.

Tabitha muttered softly, “Not him.”

In the past few days, she had learned about Imogen’s family situation. Imogen was a single–parent child who could only grow up wildly in her own way without any proper discipline.

Emmanuel himself had also gone through a dark childhood, and though he had a gloomy personality, he would not use children to his own advantage.

However, Tabitha did not think it was necessary to explain these to Malcolm.

She said, “I’m tired. You can leave now.”

Seeing that Tabitha refused to communicate with him, Malcolm felt disappointed.

Tabitha could not hide the disgust in her eyes when she misunderstood Malcolm for breaking the fish tank that day.

Yet, Malcolm could not believe that she did not need an explanation from Emmanuel to believe him.

Malcolm’s knuckles turned pale from pinching the lollipop hard.

However, there was no one he could blame since he brought everything upon himself.

Chapter 193

Tabitha ignored Malcolm after that and poured herself some water to take. her medicine.

Her side profile was beautiful, but her pale face reminded Malcolm of a single fact every time.

Tabitha had just miscarried, and he was responsible for the mistake.

All the anger in Malcolm’s mind dispersed in an instant. He said softly, “Have a good rest.”

With that, he turned around and was about to leave.

Tabitha looked at Malcolm’s retreating figure and suddenly said, “Malcolm, I’ll get discharged in half a month. There’s something I want to discuss with you.”

Her tone was unprecedentedly serious. Malcolm stopped in his tracks, and his heart skipped a beat as if he had guessed what Tabitha was intending to

say.

He did not feel like turning his head back and said swiftly, “I have an urgent matter to deal with. Let’s talk about it another time.”

After that, he escaped from the ward.

It was not his style to evade responsibility at all, but he would rather choose to procrastinate as much as possible.

Malcolm was reluctant to discuss the matter with Tabitha. However, when Colette and Chadwick came to the hospital on the same day, Tabitha asked Colette, “Ms. Ingram, do your business services include handling divorce agreements?”

Chadwick looked up at Tabitha almost immediately.

Colette was also surprised. She asked back, “You want a divorce?”

In the past few days, everyone had seen how much Malcolm cared about Tabitha. Hence, Colette was confused about Tabitha’s sudden request for divorce.

“Yes,” Tabitha answered.

On that day, when Malcolm took Naomi home, Tabitha had already lost. all her love for him. She refused to get a divorce sooner because she did not want the shameless couple to get together officially.

Yet, her obsession caused her to lose her child. At that exact moment, she even lost the will to live, suddenly feeling that it was better to let go of Malcolm than to waste the rest of her life by making the shameless. couple’s lives miserable.

She swore she would find evidence and punish Naomi in her own way.
