Chasing Back My Ex-wife

Chapter 36

The Byrd family.
Lizbeth drove home and entered the hall sulkily.
The hall was brightly lit, and Mr. Byrd was flipping through a book while waiting for her. "Lizbeth, why are you back so late
today?"
"I went out for dinner with a friend and it ended slightly later!" Lizbeth answered impatiently and walked upstairs.
Mr. Byrd put down his book and said, "It's almost 12 o'clock. What friends were you having dinner with till so late?"
"You wouldn't know even if I told you! I'm already 27 years old and I'm not a kid anymore. Can you stop poking your nose into
everything I do?" He always asked so many questions, how annoying!
The servants shook their heads imperceptibly. Mr. Byrd just pampered Lizbeth too much, and that was why she was so rude and
arrogant.
"I'm not trying to poke my nose in your business. I was just asking casually. By the way, Jenson came over this afternoon to look
for you. Do you want to give him a call?" Actually, Mr. Byrd didn't really approve of Lizbeth giving her whole heart to Arthur. He
could tell that Arthur didn't feel anything for her at all.
Lizbeth ignored him and stomped up the stairs in her high heels. Her father just fussed over her all the time for no good reason!
"Alas, the older she gets, the more she worries me!" Mr. Byrd was slightly anxious because he only had one daughter, and she
still wasn't married at twenty-seven.
A servant smiled awkwardly and asked, "Sir, shall I get you a fresh cup of tea?"
"No, I won't be able to fall asleep." Mr. Byrd batted his hand.
Lizbeth went into her room and slammed the door.

She threw her handbag onto the bed. The more she thought about it, the more unhappy she felt.
Lucy had slapped her and even tried to hit her with her car. Besides, Lucy already had a b*stard child, but she was still throwing
herself at Arthur. What an evil and scheming woman! Lizbeth definitely couldn't let Arthur get deceived by a woman like her!
"What should I do?" She paced the room a few times, but she still couldn't think of a good plan.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up as she thought of Jenson.
...
Lucy followed Arthur into Lindbarry Chateau. Everything looked the same as it had five years ago and even the vase of white
roses was in the same spot.
"Mrs. Johnson, you really are still alive!" Aunty Julianne came in. Seeing someone she hadn't seen in five years, tears welled up
in her eyes.
Arthur had always thought Lucy had many flaws, but Aunty Julianne liked Lucy throughout the long time they had spent together.
When Lucy saw the only person who had been nice throughout those five years, her heart instantly softened. "Aunty Julianne,
I'm sorry for not visiting you for five years."
"Don't be sorry. I'm just glad you're alive!" Aunty Julianne dried her tears. "Mrs. Johnson, do you want to eat fish? I'll prepare it
now!"
She was getting old, and she thought that Lucy being alive and well was better than anything else!
"I'm fine, Aunty Julianne. I already had dinner. It's getting late, go get some rest." Aunty Julianne was the only light in her dark
memories of the past, and Lucy really treated her like a family elder.
While watching them, Arthur nearly went mad with jealousy.

Lucy ran away every time she saw him and was reluctant to speak to him. However, when she saw Aunty Julianne, she kept
smiling.
"Aunty Julianne, go get some rest." Seeing that they were about to keep chatting, Arthur stepped up and said sulkily.
Only then did Aunty Julianne notice Arthur and his wounds. Her eyes widened instantly. "Sir, how did you get hurt? Give me a
moment, I'll get the first aid kit and disinfect your wound, then bandage it for you!"
"There's no need!" Arthur shot Lucy a glance and refused her bluntly. Then, he sat down on the couch and snorted as if the pain
was nothing.
Aunty Julianne had worked for him for many years. At that moment, she could already guess his thoughts. "Mrs. Johnson, my
eyesight is getting worse, and I can't see clearly at night. Could you help Mr. Johnson bandage his wound?"
Aunty Julianne thought, 'Mr. Johnson is such a softie who acts tough. If he wants Lucy to bandage his wound, can't he just say
so himself?'
Lucy glanced at Arthur's leg that was stained with blood and licked her dry lower lip. She looked conflicted.
His wound seemed to be very serious. Shouldn't he get treated by a professional?
Seeing that she was about to refuse, Arthur spoke up first with a stormy expression, "You want her to bandage my wound? I'd
just die faster!"
Aunty Julianne sighed secretly. Arthur was the champion at saying what he didn't mean!
However, since Lucy cared about Arthur that much, she would definitely help him bandage his wound!
"For your survival, I'd better not do it then," Lucy said expressionlessly and looked at Aunty Julianne, who was very shocked.
"Aunty Julianne, where will I be sleeping tonight?"
"Huh? Why, aren't you going to share a room with Mr. Johnson?" Aunty Julianne was so shocked that her words were jumbled.

Were pigs going to fly next? Lucy was actually giving Arthur the cold shoulder!
Arthur snorted coldly and went upstairs after not receiving a single word of concern although he was seriously injured.
Lucy didn't give a d*mn about his tantrum and said to Aunty Julianne, "Aunty Julianne, are there any clean guestrooms that I can
sleep in?"
Arthur, who was already halfway up the spiral staircase, paused and glanced at Aunty Julianne coldly.
Aunty Julianne sensed his warning and cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I kept thinking that you would share a room with Mr.
Johnson, so I did not clean any of the guestrooms."
God have mercy on her. She didn't want to lie, but Arthur forced her to!
Only after hearing that did Arthur continue walking up the stairs with an icy and arrogant expression.
"Alright then, rest well, Aunty Julianne." Lucy smiled at her and walked up the spiral staircase after a moment's hesitation.
From the beginning to the end, Arthur was only interested in her body. This result was expected... but it was still hard to accept.
Lucy tried her best to walk as slowly as she could. She didn't want to face the reality, but she soon arrived at the door to the
master bedroom.
It had been more than five years since she was last there. She took a deep breath before opening the door bravely...
"!"
She nearly screamed when she saw Arthur, who was only wearing briefs, with his left leg covered in blood!
He had broad shoulders, a slender waist, muscular chest, and defined abs. The sight of him was enough to give anyone a
nosebleed. Although Lucy was against him right then, she had to admit that fact.

"Who said you could come in?!" Arthur scolded her sternly, but he turned towards her self-absorbedly so that she could see his
perfect figure.
Lucy fixed her gaze above his neck and said sorry. She grabbed the doorknob, planning to get out.
"Ouch!" Seeing that she was about to leave, Arthur had no time to consider of his means were too lowly. He hissed in pain and
fell to the floor.
He clutched his left leg that was still bleeding. A look of real yet slightly exaggerated look of pain masked his handsome face.
At the strong scent of blood, Lucy hesitated and squatted down. "Arthur, let's get you to the hospital."
He didn't complain about the pain, so she thought his injury wasn't serious. However, when she looked closely, she realized that
his leg was swollen badly, and it looked very frightening.
Arthur glanced at the book of tips on how to win a woman's heart hidden under the pillow and stopped himself from saying he
didn't want to go. Instead, he said with a pained look, "I can't walk anymore."
