Chasing Aurora

Chapter 12

After a quick stop at Robby’s car, we all piled into Merriweather’s car. After introducing Robby to Merriweather, we were off to the airport.

“Okay, so what’s with the sword?” Robby asked me.

“Not sure, they kind of gave it to me and now I feel weird when I’m not holding it. Oh, and apparently, I know how to use it. I stopped a bullet with it. It was pretty badass.”

“They shot at you?” Robby asked, his eyes going wide.

“These aren’t exactly good people we’re dealing with.” I gripped the hilt of the sword tighter between my fingers. I was trying my hardest to push everything I’d been through the past couple of days from my mind. I didn’t want to talk anymore about it, and thankfully Robby didn’t press it.

“Alright, I should probably figure out some kind of weapon since I don’t get a magical sword, unless any of you guys have an extra magical sword.”

“Just the one I’m afraid.” Fauna chimed in, “You wouldn’t have the natural talents a Guardian has to wield it properly. I’m sure we can figure something out for you though dear.”

“Well, I can still figure out some way to be helpful. Maybe I could be the hacker of the group.”

“That would require you to be able to hack computers. As I remember it, I’m the one who had to teach you how to use excel.” I snickered. Although Robby didn’t have any magical powers, he did have one ability that most lacked. He could always find a way to make other’s laugh even in the most difficult times. I was so glad to have him with me, I think he’ll help me stay sane in all of this.

Arriving at the airport there were some new problems we hadto face. One, the three fae who did not have passports, and two, the giant magical sword that was definitely not TSA approved. Thankfully, travelling with fae did come with some benefits, mainly their ability to bend the laws of physics. They made the sword disappear, and they shrunk down to impossible proportions before sliding into my backpack.

Robby and I walked into the airport and I followed my father’s directions to find where to go. Everything went very quickly and soon, we were in the sky off to France. Once the fasten seatbelts sign turned off, I turned to Robby. “Hey, I’m going to try and get some sleep. See if I can talk to Aurora.”

“Sure, tell her I can’t wait to meet her.”

I reclined the seat back and closed my eyes. The exhaustion from the eventful day hit me hard as I succumbed to the sweet pull of sleep.

-----

My eyes opened to the bright sun shining down on me. I pushed myself up, looking around the meadow for Aurora. My brow furrowed when I didn’t immediately see her. Did Maleficent wake her up? “Aurora!” I called out.

“Piper?” Aurora called out. I could feel myself relax at the sound of her voice. I was so relieved. I was so worried that Maleficent was going to wake her up now that I escaped. I didn’t want Aurora to become her new toy.

When I saw her come out of the woods that surrounded the meadow, I couldn’t help the smile on my face. She was just so breathtaking, the way her floral dress swirled around her body as she walked, and her blonde curls had this wild quality to them. I crossed the field, pulling her into my arms and pressing a kiss to her full lips. She let out the sweetest of giggles as she wrapped her arms around my neck. “Someone is in a good mood today.” She teased as I pulled away from her.

“I got out.”

“What? How?”

“That’s where things get weird. Come sit, this is going to take a while.” We went over to one of the trees. At the edge. I sat with my back against it, and Aurora lay in my lap. I played with her hair as I hold her everything. I laid it all out for her and answered her questions as best as I could. She quietly listened but there was one detail she struggled with.

“My parents are alive?” She asked, her voice filled with unshed tears. I knew how much she wished she had parents. It was hard for her to grow up an orphan.

“They are. They did what they thought they had to to keep you safe. I met them once, they are friends of my parents. My dad is trying to convince your dad, Stefan, to sell his company to us. Your dad, his biggest concern was making sure that you would be taken care of. He made me promise that if you ever show any interest in technology that you would have a job.”

Aurora’s nose crinkled at the thought, “Definitely not going to take you up on that offer. Although, it would be nice to work next to you every day.” She squeezed my hand. “What do they look like?”

“Well, Stefan is very tall and on the thin side. He has a goatee and a full head of hair which is still almost completely black. His eyes are grey and he seems like a social kind of guy. I suspect that our dads got in a lot of trouble in their days. Now, your mom, Leah, she’s more reserved. You look very similar, now that I think about it, but her eyes don’t have the same electric green that you have. She’s very elegant too. I swear she is something out of an old movie.”

She smiled, squeezing my hand. “So, fairies. I have to say, that was not on my list of possibilities.”

“Trust me, me neither. I was ready for magic or something, but fairies? That’s just weird.”

Aurora suddenly burst out laughing, “Sorry, just you’re part fairy and now I keep picturing you with wings and a poofy dress. Just a hilarious mental picture.”

“I can promise you that even if I do sprout wings, I will not be caught dead in a poofy dress.” I laughed, placing a kiss on the top of her head, “You’re taking all of this really well. I thought this was going to take a lot more convincing.”

She looked up at me with her electric green eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips. “I trust you Piper. If you tell me that there are fairies, I believe you.” She pulled her eyes away from mine and looked off over the meadow, “You know, if it weren’t for Maleficent, we probably would have grown up together. We could have fallen for each other out in the world. Been each other’s real firsts, instead of imaginary.”

“You are my first everything Aurora. I don’t care if it was a dream or not, you were always real to me. You were this impossible dream I had of the perfect girl that I had in my head. If I would have known you in real life, I would have been way too chicken shit to act on it. You are way out of my league.”

“Oh please, you’re literally every not straight woman’s wet dream. I mean, just look at your forearms. So hot. Hell, I think you’re even some straight woman’s wet dream.” When I started laughing, she turned around in my lap, straddling me. Her hands caressed my cheeks, and I could feel myself start to melt at her touch. “I just- I wish that we had all that time together.”

“We’re going to have the rest of our lives together. I’m going to be all heroic and save you, then we’ll have our perfect life together.”

“I wish I could do something, anything other than sleep. The most I’ve been able to figure out is that I’m by an ocean, cause I can smell saltwater.”

“Trust me, that helps. Natalie told me that you’re in the South of France, so I’m going to go up and down that coast until I find you.”

She leaned down pressing a slow soft kiss to my lips. “I’ll be waiting.” She whispered against my lips as she started to pull away. I let out an animalistic growl as I pulled her down into a deeper kiss. She smiled against my lips and I knew she was pleased with herself. She always knew exactly how to get a rise out of me.

I flipped her on her back, placing my thigh between her legs. Her lips parted under mine and our tongues began an elaborate dance as our bodies began to respond like they had a million times before. No matter how many times we ended up here, every time sent butterflies to my stomach. I could never get tired of the intoxicating creature under me.

Things were just starting to heat up when I felt a familiar tugging sensation. I pulled away with a curse. “Sorry, someone’s trying to wake me up.”

“Fine, you owe me an orgasm next time though.” She winked. I chuckled as I placed once last kiss on her lips before I was thrown back into the waking world.

-----

I jerked awake to find Robby shaking me awake. “I swear to god I’m going to kill you Robby,” I growled.

Robby held up his hands in surrender, “Your mom is on the phone and she is pissed. Have fun.” He tossed me the phone and went over to the other side of the plane.

I took a second to collect myself before lifting the phone to my ear. “Hello?”

“Piper Raleigh Jennings!” My mom yelled into the phone. “You had us all worried that you were dead and now you’re taking off to France? France? You didn’t even have time to say hello to your mother?!”

I had to pull the phone away from my ear she was yelling so loudly. “Mom, I know you’re mad, but-”

“I can’t believe your fucking father agreed to this! You could have at least called me after you called Robby so I could have met you at the office. I have been worried sick and now I have to keep worrying because you’re chasing after the woman who fucking kidnapped you? This is fucking crazy Piper, even for you.”

Yikes, she’s swearing. Mom doesn’t swear unless she’s extremely angry. Last time I heard her swear was when I got badly injured in a fight after the asshole I was fighting pulled an illegal move. That was also when she had to stop coming to my fights. “Mom, I know that you’re scared but I have to do this. Besides, I’ve got three fairies and an enchanted sword on my side. Plus, you know, Robby isn’t totally useless. I’ll be okay.” I got the finger from Robby, but I did hear my mom snort. I just hope it was one of laughter.

“I trust you, Piper, I’m just scared. You’re my little girl. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

“I know mom, but I can do this. And look on the bright side, I finally have a serious girlfriend just like you wanted.”

That time I got her to chuckle. “Leave it to you to fall for a girl who’s cursed. You better bring her home safe. I don’t think I could stand you going on a quest to save every girl you want to date.”

“Don’t worry, there will be no more quests. I am happy living a perfectly mundane life with Aurora once this is over.”

“Good, I don’t want to hear you even wanting to do anything remotely dangerous after this. If I hear you talking about skydiving or bungee jumping, I’m literally going to kill you.”

“Will do mom.” I laughed, “I love you.”

“I love you too, even if you are the reason, I’m going grey.”

We chatted for a little bit longer before she hung up. It was good to hear from my mom. She was protective and hard-headed, but she wanted the best for me. I was just lucky to have people like my parents in my corner. I would not want to get on their bad side.

“So, is it safe to come over now or are you still pissed at me?” Robby asked.

“You’re fine, for now.”

“Well, I’m guessing that you and Aurora had a good chat then.” He gave me a smirk as he took his phone back from me.

“Yeah, she said she could smell saltwater so we’ll most likely be looking at somewhere near the coast.”

“Okay cool, I was referring to the loud moans you were making before you woke up, but sure let’s go with your thing,” Robby said. I could feel myself blush, but not before I slapped Robby’s arm. Note to self though, separate hotel rooms may be required.
