Chariot 3: Conception

Chapter 57 – E.B.E

Two thousand miles away from the landing point, the unnamed creature was rushed off the B-29 that had just landed at Wright Field base after a short flight from Fort Worth. The four well-armed military policy officers, or MP`s how they would commonly refer to themselves, opened the door of the military plane as it entered the hangar.

Without saying a word and just like the rest of the flight had been, they rapidly escorted the visitor off the plane.

The engines had just been turned off and the four helixes were still spinning as the thin humanoid descended the steps placed in front of him, paying close attention to the curious design of the hangar the plane taxied into.

After hearing a noise behind him, the visitor from outer space quickly looked back and saw another few uniformed staff carrying the blank wooden cascades of different sizes and shapes wrapped in paper.

Almost weightless, the men that carried the boxes wondered if there was really anything inside them.

“Welcome. This way please.” A senior officer, probably on his fifties, that waited at the bottom of the steps regained his attention as he directed the creature to the adjacent door at the end of the hangar. His face looked serious, trying to hide the actual terrified expression he had underneath.

The officer gave him a rapid but close look, measuring all the curves of his body, giving an unavoidable emphasis on his tight thin uniform that was perfectly fit, almost as if it was the actual skin of the creature.

Different than what the officer would have expected, his black boots were not much different than what he was used to, except by the fact that they carried a slight futuristic appearance and seemed to be made of a different type of glossy looking rubber, completely absent of any laces or any obvious tightening tool.

Intelligent enough, the alien started to get used to the various other reactions and yet unexplainable expressions he watched the humans perform.

This time, without a proper introduction or sort of communication, the Grey visitor slowly followed the officer while carefully analyzing all the details that surrounded him. The smell of the sweat running down the back of the tense MPs that escorted him at the pace they advanced towards the interior of the building. The unnecessary noise made by their heavy boots just seemed to increase along with their heartbeat, coming out from the chest of the officer that led the way inside the building.

After crossing a few well-polished corridors the group finally reached a double door guarded by two sentinels who formally provided the senior officer with the army salutation prior to unlocking and then opening the heavy doors for him.

As the Grey crossed the doors, he sensed the guards staring at him with the corner of their eyes without daring to turn their necks on his direction, avoiding any direct look.

The doors closed immediately behind him. The Grey then felt the strange blend of curiosity, surprise and fear inside the minds of the staff clearing the way along the corridor. Different than what he had seen so far, those individuals were all dressed in black suits matching their hats while others had white clothing and none of them seemed military.

“This way please.” The officer directed him to a small room, still uncertain whether the creature could understand him.

The Grey patiently walked into the room and saw two chairs separated by a metallic table in the middle.

He stared at his reflection over the tinted window on the wall across the entrance and feared that it was possibly the moment he would have his body opened for studies, so the curious and primitive race could learn something new, or if lucky enough otherwise, he would just have to answer endless questions.

While he stood steal, a distracted doctor wearing white clothing and a surgical mask walked into the room as he fitted one of his gloves onto his hand.

Sensing his presence, the Grey turned around expressing no bigger surprise than the awkward doctor who entered the incorrect room.

“I`m…I`m…I`m sorry. Wrong room.” He apologized while walking backwards towards the way he had come from.

“Doctor, you are expected in room number four I presume.” A woman surprised the stunned man as she swiftly entered the room. The assertiveness on her voice was just enough to send the misplaced doctor on his way.

“Certainly.” He replied out loud while murmuring “My apologies” close to her ears.

She nodded her head, closing the door immediately behind the doctor who hoped not to be in too much trouble for the uninvited visit.

The Grey finally saw something that surprised him after being on Earth for a while. That was the first time he would meet a female human.

“Have a sit.” She pointed to the chair with the palm of her hand.

The Grey creature measured her body from bottom to top noticing the differences between her and the male humans he had seen so fair. For a second his attention was caught by her short and curled brown hair.

The woman took a deep breath while pulling the chair and pondering how she would start her first ever interview with an intelligent being from another planet.

“Are you injured?” She asked her first question without carrying for any formal introductions.

The creature telepathically replied making unclear for the interviewer if she had simply heard a “No” inside her mind or seen an actual image of vagueness or something like that projected inside her head.

The reply sounded vague but at the same time clear that the creature was not hurt.

“Where do you come from?” She tried a different question.

She suddenly had a strange feeling of levitation. She felt a breathtaking flight through the stars, galaxies, and constellations at an immeasurable speed until she saw a planet in the center of a cluster of galaxies.

Completely uncertain where in space the planet she was looking at was located, all the lady could understand is that it was once home for that strange creature.

“What is your name?” She calmly asked trying not to place as much pressure on the creature as she was already placing on herself.

“I do not have one.” She understood his vague thought as an absence of a name. The creature tried to explain that among his species, simply thinking of any individual was sufficient to identify or designate which being was in question during any given form of communication, at that moment, an idea way too farfetched for her comprehension.

“Fine. We shall call you Ebe then.” She replied with a smile, after deciding to call the visitor by the name the military used before they even had found him.

E.B.E.: Extraterrestrial Biological Entity.

The Grey creature raised his chin and looked deep into her eyes. For a creature that so far seemed completely absent of any emotion, the expression on his face passed her a slight impression of contentment.
