Chariot 3: Conception

Chapter 14 – Fasten and ready

“Ezekiel, son of a man. You were chosen.” Captain Shoffer was simplistic in his words, at the same time, trying not to disclose much.

The Captain extended his palm, courteously pointing to the space behind the four seats of the spaceship. A metallic liquid lifted from the deck, materializing itself into a fifth seat, precisely identical to the other four.

The Captain was the first one to return to his seat at the front, followed by V-Nus on his right, with Flumen and Cai Yiu behind them as usual.

Ezekiel carefully touched the seat made for him with his right hand, feeling its consistency and wondering whether it would still be liquid.

The unpolished and thick traces on the man`s face were motionless. He then swallowed the last bit of saliva that he had left down his throat, and smiled once the palm of his hand sensed the coldness upon the touch of his skin which, in his mind, he would describe it as cold as a lonely night in the desert.

Ezekiel slowly set there, rested his arms on the arms of the seat, and looked up on a circular motion observing the impressive deckhead just above. Once he felt comfortably settled on his seat, the grateful man said. “Thank you my lord for choosing me”.

A static noise confirmed the crew was magnetically fastened to their seats.

Two bronze straps stretched from behind the man`s seat over his shoulders, intersected each other across his chest, and connected back into the seat next to his waist.

The man was stunned with such an inexplicable creation.

The most minimal details surrounding the man had a heavenly impact on him. Everything looked so sacred to his eyes that for an instant he thought he was about to be transported straight to heavens.

“Sissy, we are ready.” And so sounded the Captain.

“And I hope so are you.” Flumen`s unexcited voice interrupted the Captain while he wondered if the ship would be able to fly.

“Sissy, set the course and inform us where we are heading.” Captain Shoffer had a serious expression. He could not care less about what Flumen had to say.

“Affirmative, Captain. Flight course locked: Terrestrial coordinates 14°43′S 75°08′W. The area known as Nazca, considered a world heritage site during the past modern days. It was rumored that the area used to be a space port used by visitors from other planets. Mankind, however, was never able to whether confirm or deny it.”

“We are about to find out.” Cai Yiu Hun had half a smile on his face.

“I am starting to have a bad feeling about this.” Flumen`s comments seemed to be heard by no one but himself.

As Sissy finished her words, the ship`s directional lights lid up amber and started to spin exponentially around the hull until it transcended the red light over and over.

“Perhaps we can establish new alliances.” Flumen tried to cheer himself up referring to Nibirian tradition of meeting friendly cultures from other planets, and at times, not so friendly.

“I hope you are right Flumen.” V-Nus kept his thoughts for himself.

“Shall our path be safe.”

Those were the last words from their Captain, before the propulsion light lit purple.

The silence took over them and so did the excitement.

They felt their heartbeat increasing once again.

The three whimsical lights spun in synchrony and the five felt their bodies getting tighter to their seats as Chariot 3 took off.
