Chapter 894

"This isn't my territory. I don't make the rules," Nina replied hoarsely, pursing her lips.

She understood Wilfred's feelings and intentions, but she saw him only as a friend.

"Then I'll go talk to Nash," Wilfred said earnestly, waving at Nina before heading off to find Nash.

In a few minutes, he found Nash in his tent, standing in front of a map. Dressed in his military uniform, Nash exuded an air of authority that set him apart. It was not just the uniform. Nash had an inherent quality that made it clear why Nina was so captivated by him.

Wilfred hesitated for a moment before approaching Nash. "Nina has a problem. You know that, right?"

Nash paused, lowering his marker, and met Wilfred's gaze. Though he said nothing, his intense, dark eyes spoke volumes.

"It seems you do," Wilfred observed.

"Yes," Nash finally replied.

Wilfred continued, "She likely experienced strong empathy in the slave camp, absorbing others' pain and suffering until she believed their experiences were her own. Nash, given the current situation, I'm not leaving her."

Wilfred's eyes were filled with determination, a certainty that flowed from him. Nash understood Wilfred's intentions and Nina's feelings, but knowing someone else was so concerned about Nina weighed heavily on him.

"I understand your discomfort, but I won't interfere with your relationship. Nash, you know my identity and my role," Wilfred said, his voice deep and serious, his gaze locked on Nash.

Before Nash could respond, Felix appeared at the tent entrance, respectfully reporting, "Captain, people from the Yaren tribe are here. It's Micah and the Pharaoh."

Micah and the Pharaoh had come to see Nina. Given their familial ties, Nash could not deny them the meeting. However, he needed to inform Nina first to ensure she was not caught off guard.

"We'll talk about your situation later. I need to see Nina now," Nash told Wilfred, then turned to Felix, "Have them wait."

"Yes, sir," Felix replied, then left the tent.

Nash followed, leaving Wilfred alone in the tent. As he watched Nash walk away, Wilfred fell a heavy weight in his chest. In those few seconds, it felt like an invisible hand was squeezing his heart, making it hard to breathe.

He had met Nina first, and she had given him something so important. Yet, in the end, it was Nash who stayed by her side, who entered her heart. The order of meeting mattered, but so did love and opportunity.

Nash quickly found Nina. She was sitting outside alone, a pile of wildflowers in front of her. Scarlett had picked them for her. Despite her lack of memory and only a few days with Nina, Scarlett already saw Nina as an indispensable part of her life, like family.
