CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1904

Caleb had mentioned taking Vera back to the hospital. Even though she was the one driving, that should have been their destination.

But instead, she brought him to his villa. This clearly showed she had done her homework on him.

Vera pressed her lips together. "Since you asked me to drive, I figured I'd drop you off at your place first." "Is that so?" Caleb scoffed, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "And after you drop me off, how are you planning to get back?"

As he spoke, he leaned closer to her.

Vera instinctively leaned away, uncomfortable with the sudden proximity. She had never been in such close contact with a man before, and her intentions truly were as simple as dropping him off-nothing

more.

But Caleb didn't believe her. He grabbed her shoulder with one hand, his grip firm. "I'm asking you a question. Why aren't you answering?"

Vera knew avoiding the question wouldn't work with him. He wasn't the type to let things slide.

"If I didn't drop you off, how would you have gotten back?" she stammered. "I... I really didn't think it through. Don't worry-I won't go into your villa. Worst case, I'll just walk back."

Caleb let out a low laugh. "Do you think I believe that?"

She clearly knew where he lived, so it was hard to believe she hadn't considered all the possibilities. And from where they came, the drive alone had taken nearly an hour. If she planned to walk back, it would take several hours.

Caleb's expression darkened. "No matter how broke you are, there's no need to play the pity card with me. Vera, if you walk out of here and something happens to you, who's responsible for that?"

It was nighttime, after all.

What kind of normal girl would walk alone so late at night?

Vera bit her lip, caught off guard by his scolding. She hadn't thought this far ahead when she decided to bring him here.

"Well... maybe you could lend me some money for a cab?"

Caleb's eyes narrowed. "Then why didn't you just drive back to the hospital in the first place? Vera, you keep saying you didn't think it through. Do you take me fora three-year-old?" en FindNovel

His voice grew colder with each word. He wasn't a fool, and he wasn't naïve. Vera lowered her head, the weight of her embarrassment pressing down on her.

He wasn't wrong. Her initial plan was to drop him off at home so she could report back to his father. But when Caleb questioned her earlier,

she denied it, and now she found herself backed into a corner

"I wasn't thinking about that," she mumbled. "I just wanted to have something to tell your dad. Nothing else."

Caleb let out a cold laugh. "If you had a clear purpose, why deny it earlier? We're adults, Vera. There's no need to beat around the bush."

She didn't know how to respond. At this point, it didn't matter what she said. Caleb had already decided he was right.

"Don't you think some of your actions are a little ridiculous?" he asked, his tone cutting.

Vera stayed silent. Given her current situation, what else could she do? All she could think about was how

to resolve the immediate crisis, but the more she tried, the harder it became.

She was utterly out of options now, overwhelmed by a growing sense of helplessness.

"Caleb," she said quietly, "you've

made it clear you don't want

anything to do with me. But you also know that if your father keeps introducing other people, you'll still have to deal with it. Right now, I'm standing in front of you. I'm the best option you've got."
