Chapter 1888
The director was overjoyed. "This is all thanks to you, Miss Norman!"
Karina waved it off humbly, taking a sip of water just as the aroma of lunch wafted in from outside. It was the children's mealtime, and she had smelled it before many times.
But this time, the scent made her stomach churn violently. Suddenly, she bolted toward the trash can, dry heaving a few times.
The director rushed to her side, alarmed. "Miss Norman, are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?" Karina started to respond but froze mid-thought. Her mind wandered to her menstrual cycle-wasn't it late this month?
As the idea crossed her mind, she instinctively placed a hand on her lower abdomen.
Her period was always punctual, rarely delayed unless something unusual was happening. But this time... "Miss Norman, if you're really not feeling well, maybe you should go to the hospital for a check-up," the director said, snapping Karina out of her thoughts.
She shook her head, assuring the director that she was fine.
However, the moment lingered in her mind. Unable to act as if nothing had happened, she bid the director farewell shortly afterward and left the orphanage.

Back at the hospital, Karina decided to check for herself. Without telling Wilfred, she headed to the gynecology department for an examination.
Coincidentally, the doctor on duty was someone she knew.
When the results came back, the doctor couldn't suppress a smile. "Congratulations, Dr. Norman-you're three weeks pregnant."
The overwhelming news hit Karina like a tidal wave, leaving her momentarily stunned.
Her hand instinctively went to her lower abdomen as her lashes fluttered. "Really? Am I really pregnant?" The report in her hands confirmed it-it couldn't be more real.
Even as she walked out of the office holding the report, her steps felt unsteady, as if she were floating. Since getting married, she and Wilfred hadn't taken any precautions. Given their age and her desire to start a family due to her own upbringing, she had always longed for a place to call home.
But she hadn't expected it to happen so quickly.

Once she calmed herself, the next step was figuring out how to tell Wilfred the news.
Karina decided to surprise him.
When Wilfred stepped out of the operating room, he saw a text from Karina: "I'm not feeling well, so I went home early."
Wilfred's brows furrowed instantly. Without hesitation, he reassigned the two surgeries he had scheduled that afternoon.
The assistant surgeon was stunned. "Dr, Wilfred, you're not doing the surgeries?"
"No. You can handle them-they're not too complicated. I'm taking the off. My wife's not feeling

The assistant muttered under his breath before reluctantly taking over the cases.
Meanwhile, Wilfred practically rushed out of the hospital, hurrying home.

When he arrived, he found Karina perfectly fine.
In fact, she had prepared a full spread on the dining table, complete with flowers and a cake. Seeing him, she calmly untied her apron, wiped her hands, and greeted him, "You're back? Wash up-it's time to

She handed him the report.
At first, Wilfred frowned, scanning the document. But as he processed its contents, his expression shifted
to shock and delight.
Without a word, he scooped Karina up into his arms, his voice filled with uncontainable joy. "Is this real?"
