Chapter 1878
Karina stared off into the distance, lost in thought for a long time.
It really was remarkable how differently people recovered. Though they had both been rescued from the fire, Wilfred bounced back much faster than she did.
And Wilfred... he was truly incredible at taking care of her.
Sometimes, when she looked at his gentle, focused face, Karina couldn't help but feel like he was her entire world.

After she was discharged, Karina still had a few days of medical leave. Wilfred suggested they go out for some fresh air, taking her on leisurely strolls to lift her spirits.
Their fingers intertwined as they walked side by side. Everything seemed to be back to normal, yet Karina couldn't shake the feeling that something had subtly changed.
The evening breeze was a bit cool. Karina frowned slightly, sensing that something felt off. She brushed her fingers against Wilfred's palm and teased, "Are you sweating?"
It was an offhand remark, but Wilfred responded with a soft "Mm."
Before she could process his answer, gentle music began to play around them. As twilight deepened, countless decorative lights lit up all at once, casting a magical glow over their surroundings.
Karina froze for a moment, her mind blank as she spun around to take in the scene.
When she turned back, Wilfred was on one knee before her.
"Sorry," he began, his voice warm and full of emotion, "this might feel a bit rushed, but I don't want to wait another second."
His heartfelt confession spilled out, each word filled with sincerity and love.
Karina heard him, though she couldn't fully register the meaning. Her world seemed to blur, the beauty of the moment feeling almost surreal.
When there was a pause in his words, she choked up and blurted out, "I will."
Wilfred, still on one knee, froze for a moment, caught between laughter and exasperation. "I haven't even had the chance to ask yet."
He had only just taken out the ring.
Karina blinked rapidly, her eyes
glistening as if fighting back tears don't want to wait either. And you were going to ask, and I was always going to say yes."
The breeze stirred softly around them, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
Wilfred took her hand gently, cradling it in his as he slid the ring onto her finger. Then, with infinite
tenderness, he pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.
As his lips touched her skin, fireworks exploded overhead, their brilliant colors illuminating the night sky.
She couldn't fathom how he had
managed to organize all this. He had been by her side at the hospital every day since she woke up. Ye somehow, amidst all that, he had found time to plan this proposal.

Afterward, wedding plans quickly took shape.
Karina wasn't one to dither-whether it was the venue or her wedding dress, she made decisions in a snap.
She moved so quickly that even Wilfred had to intervene. "There's no need to rush. I want to give you the perfect wedding, one without any regrets."
But Karina shook her head. "Waiting even one more day to marry you would be my greatest regret."
Wilfred pinched the tip of her nose playfully, but in the end, he couldn't win against her. He let her have her way.
It was as if the heavens themselves were blessing their love. Despite the hurried preparations, everything came together perfectly, as if by design.

The day she tried on her wedding dress, the curtain was pulled back to reveal Karina standing there in breathtaking elegance.
Wilfred's eyes burned with an intense, fiery emotion.
Karina, feeling his gaze, grew self-conscious and lowered her head, trying to avoid the scorching intensity of his stare.
But he wouldn't let her escape. He
took her hand firmly, pulling her closer until she was right in front of him. His gaze enveloped her completely, leaving no room for her
to hide.
