CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1677

Mrs. Lucas nodded thoughtfully. "That's a good idea."

Since her injury wasn't too severe, she just needed to keep up with dressing changes and avoid strain. Back home, with the sound of Charlie's playful laughter filling the space, her recovery seemed to pick up pace. When Ben returned home, he looked visibly tired but managed a warm smile. "Jamie, come to the study. I have something to discuss with you."

Jamie put down what she was working on and followed him.

"Sure."

Inside the study, Ben pulled a document from his briefcase and placed it in front of her. "Take a look."

Jamie skimmed through it quickly. "What is this?"

"It's an application for a national legal debate competition. The winners not only gain recognition but significantly enhance their reputation within the legal field," Ben explained.

"I've definitely heard of it," Jamie said, nodding. "But I also know it's not easy to qualify. I used to watch this program a lot when I dreamed of being a lawyer."

Her voice trailed off, and a mix of emotions clouded her face. Her dream of practicing law had been put on hold for so many years due to life's demands, leaving her unsure if she could still pursue it.

Ben leaned back in his chair, observing her reaction. "Well, here's your chance. Are you willing to give it a shot?"

"But this is such a high-stakes competition," Jamie said hesitantly. "Isn't it your firm's invitation? Won't others feel it's unfair if I join through you?"

Ben shook his head firmly. "No one will mind. The firm backs all its participants equally. There's still plenty of time before the competition begins, so if you're interested, I'll submit your name." After a moment's pause, Jamie nodded. "Okay, I'll do it."

These past years, she had never truly given up studying law, so picking it back up wouldn't be difficult.

Jamie smiled softly, gratitude shining in her eyes.

brimming with energy. For days, she stayed up late poring over legal texts. Occasionally, Ben would bring her a glass of warm milk, shaking his head with a mix of amusement and exasperation.

"I'm not sure if signing you up was the best idea or the worst one," he remarked. "Of course, it was the best," she replied, beaming.

"You've been at it so much, you probably don't even know if it's day or night anymore," Ben teased, before muttering under his breath, "Not to mention forgetting to spend time with me." en FindNovel

"There's plenty of time for us in the future," Jamie quipped, giving him a playful wink. "But this competition is a one-time shot."

Ben could only smile helplessly. This had been his idea, after all, and seeing her so determined, he had no choice but to support her.

As the competition approached, Jamie was invited to the program's press conference, where the participating lawyers would meet the media.

When she walked into the venue, her poised demeanor turned a few heads. Some photographers snapped away, but their curiosity soon gave way to confusion. "Who's she?" one of the reporters muttered, lowering his camera. "I don't recognize her at all."

Others quickly began searching

online but found no substantial information: It became clear that Jamie was an unknown in the legal worldea stark contrast to the seasoned lawyers dominating the event.

Despite her nerves, Jamie greeted the room with a calm smile and nodded politely to those she passed.

Ben's assistant soon approached her. "Miss Lewis, over here. Mr. Lucas specifically instructed me to accompany you. If you have any questions or need assistance, just let me know."
