Chapter 42
Chapter 42
The abrupt appearance of Calvin shocked Finley, so she sprang to her feet from the sofa.
"Why are you here?" Finley twisted her hands and looked nervous.
Finley looked bad because the man in front of her was her rival in love in some way.
"Why did you call me Mrs. Turner?"
"Bryan told me that you were his wife. Mrs. Turner, isn't it? Daphne said that she would like to work with a perfumer. It is you!”
Calvin smiled faintly, and his pair of eyes were charming.
With her hair hanging behind her back, Finley looked genteel in a white shirt and a black pleated skirt.
The removal of the birthmark from the face made Finley look beautiful.
Finley nodded as her response to Calvin.
The atmosphere became awkward.
"By the way, do you hate me because I am Bryan's wife? Finley pondered with a frown and then asked.
"Why should I?" Calvin grinned.
"Aren't you in love with Bryan?"
"We... Mrs. Turner, do I look like a gay? Calvin shook his head coquettishly.
Finley concluded that Calvin must be the bottom in his relationship with Bryan.
Bryan was domineering in the eyes of Finley.
Finley nodded and said, "Yes, you do."
"Come on! No! I am straight! Bryan has blackened my name over the past years! He used me as a social shield to block his admirers away. Mrs. Turner, don't be fooled!" Calvin explained with
frustration.
"Miss Carter..." One assistant outside the door greeted.
Daphne stood outside the door. She looked hot in a red sheath dress.
"Shh..." Daphne put one finger on her mouth to silence the assistant and scared her away with one glare.
After the assistant left, Daphne pressed her ear against the door and listened to the conversation inside.
"What?" Finley became hesitant. She didn't know which to believe, her eyes or Calvin's words.
'Bryan deliberately set up a fault image in public. You must have something to recommend yourself since Bryan chose you to be his wife. He had been single for 27 years. I hope you can teach him. what love is. Make him love you, and don't blacken my name anymore. Please!"
Calvin looked bitter as if he had suffered a lot for Bryan over the past years.
"Why did you go to his office that day?"
"For business."
"Why did you kneel on the ground..." This question had haunted Finley for days.
"Bryan told me that ugly woman was you, so I knelt down to beg his mercy. When I commented that you were ugly, Bryan had a fierce look in his eyes. I was scared out of shit!"
Calvin shrugged and shook his head in fear.
Calvin sounded sincere to Finley.
Instantly, Finley became happy.
She felt good at the mention of Bryan.
"Mrs. Turner, please keep it a secret that I told you the truth. I am afraid that Bryan will beat me up if he knows that his secret is out. Please pretend that you know nothing and then teach him to love
you. Don't blacken my name anymore. I want a relationship. I want to have a girlfriend."
"So why did you show up here? Do you like Daphne Carter?"
Outside the door, Daphne changed her expression for this question.
