CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 38

Alyssa was unconvinced that Hazel used the adjective “handsome” to describe “Justin”. She wrinkled her nose. “You can say
whatever you want but it’s useless. Appearances are nothing if your personality's a size of a peanut."
Hazel shook her head, as she took a sip of her juice. “I don’t believe that you weren’t fascinated by Justin. I mean, who wouldn't?
Have you ever seen him? Even if he wear a sack, he will still look good! I don't know where your eyes have been, but you should
start using them."
Hazel stretched out her hand and made a gesture. She looked like a hooligan.
Was she fascinated by “Justin”?
As soon as the thought appeared, she sneered. “Please, no matter what he's a jerk.”
Women would be attracted by beautiful flowers, let alone a man like “Justin.” “Justin” may be the most handsome man that she'd
ever met, but that still didn't make him admirable. Remembering what he had done to her in the past, she suppressed a anger.
“I actually haven't seen Emmett till now. They are all Lawrences. So if he hadn't been disfigured from the kidnapping, he would've
been even more good-looking man than “Justin.””
She sighed. Her voice was resigned and filled with sadness for the man who she had never met. Although the man was cold and
harsh, she could understand where that was coming from. They had never bothered with each other before, but perhaps, that
was the reason why she felt more acquainted with him than “Justin.”
“You're telling me you still haven't seen him till now? Haven't you been married for two and a half months?” After saying that,
Hazel drank a full glass of water to calm down.
Then recalling Justin’s reaction, Hazel sighed. “Well, I could tell that you're very special to Justin. I mean, the man could barely
look at me without wanting to murder me, but he's much gentler to you. It's as if you've known each other for a long time."
“Justin” treated her gently? When did that happen?
Alyssa shook her head. “It’s your illusion.”

Hey, that is so not–" Hazel was about to argue when her phone rang out. She frowned and picked up.
It was her manager.
As soon as she hung up, she grabbed her bag. "He asked me to head to the company. There seems to be an emergency
meeting. I swear, all I ask is for one quiet meal with you without him calling, and he's at it again!"
Alyssa comforted her. “I am not going anywhere. After you shoot the film, I’ll treat you a meal.”
...
After parting ways with her friend, Alyssa headed straight back to the villa.
As soon as she walked in, she saw “Justin” in the living room.
He still didn't look like he had recovered. He was dressed in a baggy shirt and a pair of pants. There were still dark circles around
his eyes, and he still appeared a bit pale.
There was a laptop in front of him and a glass of water beside him. Even at this moment he was still working on his laptop, not
even bothering to stop and drink his water.
Alyssa sighed in her heart. Although she didn't like him, she had to admit that he was strong and stubborn.
The last time he had gotten injured, he asked for her help to take the bullet out. That time, she thought that he'd actually faint in
front of her, but he continued instructing her as if he got everything under control. And now when he had a high fever and even
fainted, he still continued to work after being treated.
Did he think that his body was made of steel or something?
As if he felt her presence, he looked up, staring into her eyes.

As if he felt her presence, he looked up, staring into her eyes.
"You're back." His voice was still a bit hoarse, but his words were still firm.
Alyssa glanced at the laptop and asked him from some distance. "Are you already working? Have you gotten some rest?"
Other than his pale face, she really couldn't tell he was sick given how much he continued to push himself. If she was in his
state, she would've already collapsed back onto the bed.
"I'm fine," “Justin” replied, tapping the keyboard a few times. "I'm just a little hungry."
Thinking of his previous call, she said, “You can...”
She wanted to say that he could ask the bodyguard to cook for him.
However, “Justin” already knew what she was going to say, so he directly interrupted. “It tastes terrible.”
Although he didn't say anything more, Alyssa understood what he meant. He meant that the food the bodyguards made tasted
awful.
When Frank walked over, he happened to hear Emmett’s words.
He sneered.
He had never heard Emmett say that they were bad at cooking. In fact, he couldn't really care less. No matter how bland the
dishes were, he'd still eat them willingly and readily. Yet ever since got he married, it was as if he had become a child, throwing
tantrums now and then.
To be honest, if Frank were the one to look at Alyssa, he'd say that she looked extremely ugly. He really didn't know what his
boss had seen in her.
However, as Emmett cared for her, he'd naturally respect her. Perhaps boss had an unusual taste.

Alyssa glanced at the time, it was almost two o’ clock in the afternoon.
Noticing that Frank was also here, she was surprised. “Is Emmett at home?”
Seeing that Frank was there, she blinked. "Is Emmett at home?"
"Yes," “Justin” answered for him.
"Oh, has he eaten?"
Emmett was about to drink water. He stopped and looked up at Frank before drinking the water.
Even Frank had to admire Emmett acting skills. If he weren't such a skilled businessman, he would've suggested that Emmett
should enter the entertainment industry.
“Mr. Lawrence hasn’t eaten yet.” Without blinking an eye, Frank hurriedly answered. He was impressed by his own rapid
response.
"Great!" Alyssa's eyes lit up. "I'll cook for him. I'll send it to him.”
Then she went to the kitchen excitedly.
The last time she had wanted to cook for Emmett, the dishes were all eaten up by “Justin”. This time she wouldn’t let that
happen.
Emmett watched as her expression immediately brightened. For the first time in his life, he couldn't help but feel a bit envious
“Emmett.”
Frank grabbed one of the medicinal pills and handed it to him.
However, Emmett didn't take it, his gaze still turned to the direction where Alyssa had gone to. Then he turned around and asked

seriously. "Do you think she's stupid? She didn't want to please a guy who's normal, and instead want to please a cripple. Who in
their right mind would do that? Or...do you think she's still pretending?"
Frank stayed quiet for a while. Emmett had always been a cold person. In fact, some may even assume that he was incapable of
love, given that he had never looked a woman before. Yet ever since Alyssa entered into his life, he'd deliberately provoke her in
hopes of getting a reaction from her. Did he really have feelings for her? If so, why was he still beating around the bush?
"You seem quite interested in Young Madame."
"You haven't answered my question."
Emmett sneered. He was smart. So he understood what Frank meant.
Frank hurriedly said. "What I meant was that Young Madame doesn't seem stupid. That may be what many have seen upon first
glance, but everything she has done in the past–they all seem meticulous. If there's something she's not, it's simple."
"Hm..."
She was his wife after all. How could he not care about her?
If it weren't for his and Frank help in taking care of some of the other matters regarding, with the amount of sensation Alyssa
caused in the Internet, the other members of the Lawrence family wouldn't have sat so still till now.
Given that they cared so much about their reputation, if they hadn't been sated by Emmett, they would've found trouble with her.
...
In the kitchen, Alyssa was cooking up a pot of vegetable porridge and a bunch of steamed veggies to nourish his health.
Although “Justin” had mentioned that Emmett liked spicy food, she didn't believe him. After all, he had already fooled her once.
Besides, no matter what kind of taste Emmett liked, cooking light dishes was healthier for him. It was still the right choice.

After cooking the rice, she placed a serving of each vegetable on the tray for Emmett. The leftovers were placed on the table for
“Justin”.
Frank had just walked into the dining room right on time. "Young Madame, I’ll deliver the food to Mr. Lawrence.”
Alyssa handed the tray to Frank and asked. "Will he be out in the afternoon?"
"I...I'm not sure." Frank lowered his head. Truly, when would his days of lying come to an end?
When he left, “Justin” entered the dining room.
Upon seeing the plain vegetable porridge and the other steamed veggies, he frowned. "Why are they all vegetables? I don’t like
light food.”
He stared at the dishes, and a dissatisfied glint flashed in his eyes. It was in this instance where she could compare him to a
small child.
Pouring him a cup of hot water, Alyssa raised her eyebrow and said angrily. "You were just sick, were you not? What else do you
expect? Some Malachian hot pot? Do you really want to put your health at risk? If you die, is it my fault?”
As soon as the words slipped past her lips, she immediately regretted. Maybe she shouldn’t have said that.
But she didn’t care!
However, “Justin” didn't lose his temper. Instead, he picked up his chopsticks and started to eat slowly. Although the food was
plain, it still tasted good.
Alyssa stared at him, watching the way he ate the porridge non-stop. For someone who was so sick, his appetite was still good.
Perhaps “Justin” was really built differently. He didn't look like he's affected by these types of sicknesses and injuries. He only
cared about life and death.

When he had finished eating, the servants cleaned the kitchen. Seeing that she had no other business with him, she headed
straight to her bedroom.
Alyssa turned on her computer and logged into her Weibo. She found that the topic “Skylar’s hot video”, which had been withheld
in the morning, had become the trending topic again!
She scrolled down a few times to confirm that it was not her illusion. Did Hazel pay some money to get it up the ranks?
