Chapter |73| ~ Yet Another Important Business Matter~
Unedited.
Cyrus POV
She lays her head on my chest, I’m her pillow. Her diamond-shaped face that is carved to pure perfection is pressed up against the cape of my neck. I slowly run the tip of my fingers throughout her silky soft dark brown hair. The very moment that I come in contact with her hair that all too familiar spark of electricity travels throughout my fingers and zaps heat inside of the palm of my hand.
It’s well welcomed.
The tip of my finger shivers as a reaction. I love the effect that she has on me but, I still pull away slightly just to reposition myself, causing Embry to release a silent whine. Got, damn! Her actions cause my monster to nearly escape.
We love it when she does that shit. It nearly drives us to the brink of insanity every single time.
It’s like she can’t bear to be without our touch for just a second and trust me when I say that the feeling is mutual. It’s so unusual, that someone like Embry thinks that we are worthy enough just to be in her presence. She’s such a precious gift. Only the Blood God knows how much we don’t deserve her.
That’s when I find myself once again reaching out to touch her just to ensure that she’s real, just to confirm that she’s still here with me, hoping and praying that she never disappears. She sighs loudly and then sinks perfectly into my frame.
Yes, she’s real. The devil’s little angel. How did I ever get so lucky?
My finger begins to trace her smooth and porcelain skin. Her striking, big, and brilliant hazel eyes are wide open, staring directly into my soul. I place a kiss down onto her forehead and then gently roll over, placing myself on top of her soft frame, pressing my body directly against her body, unyielding my manhood directly over top of the city of her precious jewel. She gasps and then takes a deep whiff of my scent. I can feel her nostrils flaring widely against my chest.
I can smell her arousal as it brews and then floats freely in the air. My, God!
It smells so good.
I want to taste it so got damn bad, but if I do, I’ll never leave this bed and that’s a fact. So, I must show strength.
God, help me!
“Go to sleep, my love,” I command while rolling over and then placing her body back on top of my body.
“I love you, Cyrus,” she tells me again. Her voice is soft and alluring like a siren.
Fuck, I’m sinking. I’m a goner and most definitely in too deep.
“I love you too, baby, more than you’ll ever know,” I speak from the heart. Very soon, her eyes begin to flutter shut. Within the next second, she’s asleep. She looks so peaceful, so carefree, and so precious. I’m at ease just watching her sleep.
For a second, I just lie there listening to her lullaby of a heartbeat. I really don’t want to leave her. What she means to me is what I mean to my Kingdom. She’s that important to me. I just wish that I can stay here with her and sit at home all day.
She’ll make me grovel and I’ll most certainly, shall pay for every single mistake that I ever made and all of the trouble that I put her and her heart through. Fuck, I was a fool.
How could I not see what was right in front of me the first moment that I met her?
Why the fuck didn’t I just claim her and run away forever, disappear off the face of the earth with the girl of my dreams by my side?
Fuck, I would have could have, should have but I didn’t and now I have to pay for my fuckery.
Fucking, clown! Damn. Now, look at me! Forced to leave her behind why I go on some bullshit as vampire King business trip.
It sucks! Bad. I rather stay here with her, our bodies pressing and decompressing.
I take another second, to study her thick and full eyebrows. They are so magnificent, so exotic, so wild and so perfectly perfect. Then, my eyes scan over her full and luscious eyelashes. They are perfectly perfect as well. She’s so perfect. Next, I count my blessings. I’m blessed. Embry is the greatest blessing of all.
In my eyes, Embry truly is the brightest star under sunlight and always will be. My beloved, my darling, my ray of sunlight on a cloudy day.
I truly am a lucky man but today is truly a cloudy day. Fuck.
What a nightmare?
I roll over once again, leaving the warmth of our bed.
It takes me, damn near two hours too really leave, but not before I place a single kiss down onto the soft skin on top of her forehead, then onto the bridge of her cute slightly narrow nose, and finally onto her pretty, pink, and perfectly plumped luscious lips!
Then, I take another deep whiff of her scent, allowing her fresh wildflower essence to ease my soul right before I imprint the sight of my radiant sleeping beauty to my memory.
Once done, I silently walk out of the door.
I arrive at the red house just in time to take a shower and clean myself up. Lucius and I security detail, personal drivers, and transportation have already arrived before I get downstairs. We ride separately to the close’s airport, although we have no choice but to share the same plane. It’s one of those customs that us Kings have become accustomed to way before the Awakening. Don’t ask me why it just is, if we are together and we both are leaving we travel together until separation.
Marcellus came up with the idea centuries ago.
He used to always say we ride together, and we shall die together, yeah, yeah, yeah. Every time we got on a plane together! He’s hilarious. Fucking, clown!
What he should have been saying is that until our beloved’s do us part, yeah, yeah… Yeah!
Any who, the mood is somber. All I can seem to think about is Embry, if she has awakened yet, has she eaten breakfast yet, does she miss me as bad as I miss her. My brain is consumed with nothing but thoughts of Embry, not that I’m complaining but yeah. I’m whipped!
Then it’s this got damn summons that we’re about to deal with. Aunt Katherine made it her business to meet me once again before I left just to tell me that I really need to take, the situation more seriously than I am. Then, she told me she loved me over a thousand times, kissed my cheeks a thousand and one times more, and then told me she loved me again. A single bloody teardrop even fell from out of her beautiful soft almond colored eye.
That’s when she began to creep me out. It was strange, even if I was going to war it’s not like I haven’t been to war time after time before and she never behaved in such manner. I don’t know.
Matter of fact, now that I’m thinking about it her actions, we’re very strange. I mean sure, the council is a huge threat to us all. Plus, there is the situation with the bitch ass Lycan Prince roaming vampire land freely, asking questions about my beloved. Either way, both of those scenarios are both small things to a giant, and nothing that I can’t handle, and my aunt knows that just as well, as I do.
So, I really should have asked her what was really going on. Why was my aunt behaving as a, human slave mother would as she’s forced to give up her newborn child?
What does she know that I don’t know? Has she talked to Apollyon? Did he threaten my aunt?
I can only pray that he didn’t, for his sake because I don’t care if he’s the all feared head council member or the father of the King of King’s, or even supposed to be blessed by the blood god himself, I’ll kill him either way, and that’s a promise. If I found out that Apollyon said anything out of line to my aunt someway…. Somehow, I’ll find a way to end him and that’s, that.
I don’t care who he is. Nobody! And I mean, nobody messes with my aunt.
The almighty Apollyon is not excluded from that ordeal, even Nicklaus himself will agree with that and that’s his son.
Actually, now that I’m really thinking about it. My aunt Katherine probably didn’t speak to Apollyon.
I mean the last time that I checked he still had his panties up a bunch ever since my aunt publicly announced her mating to Ghost.
Yup, Apollyon is a joke. He’s mad that my aunt chose a groom after he chose the bride of chucky over her to rule by his side.
He’s a big ass joke! Clown. You know what, I’m not even about to start thinking of my aunt and Apollyon’s strange attraction towards one another.
Nope! It gives me a headache every time, fuck I’m bored.
Let me find something more productive to do, like staring out of the window just so I can think about the most precious gift of all time.
Embry.
I know for a fact that she is up by now, most likely being interrogated by Speck about her first time. I swear it’s like I can mentally see Embry’s facial expression in the passing clouds, turning fifty shades of pink, as Speck ask her uncomfortable question after uncomfortable question, making my gorgeous beloved cheeks heat up and flash a coy smile.
Fuck, I miss her.
“Seneca, just made contact,” advises Lucius as he takes a seat beside me. He’s scrolling through his cellular device and tapping the screen really fast. That reminds me, I need to get Embry a phone. That way, I’ll just be one call away. That’s the only thing those thingamajiggies are good for.
Fuck, I forgot! I need to get me another one too. I broke yet another one of my devices back at Nicklaus’s estate.
“He and Rufus have already arrived,” states Lucius a second later. “In fact, all of the other king’s horses and all of the other king men have already arrived in the King of all King’s kingdom as well. I guess we’re the only two kings whose presence is missing, thanks to you,” he horribly jokes.
“A remix of Humpty Dumpty, really Lucius?” I ask while raising my eyebrow. “Come on man, even Marcellus jokes are better than that,”
“Yup, because he’s a clown, hard not to like, but he is a clown, nevertheless. He’s like that annoying little brother that you can’t get rid of,”
That’s exactly what I said, I think to myself. You see, shit like that is why I used to like Lucius.
We think alike, besides the fact that he is a racist dick and I’m not. Other than that, he’s kind of laidback and chill, most of the times he’s really easy to vibe with if you’re a vampire but even still, that is when he wants to be. Lucius doesn’t have that many friends out of our circle, nor family.
He’s pretty much a loner and I honestly believe that he likes it that way.
“Yeah, he is,” I agree with Lucius out loud while running my fingers throughout my hair and then placing my focus back onto staring out the window. At this point, we’ve almost reached Nicklaus’s Kingdom. The closer we get I realize that the love of my life is farther, and farther away.
“Did you find the hunter?” I decide to ask Lucius, in hopes of taking my mind off of Embry for just a second.
My heart is starting to ach. Although, I do know one thing, distance makes the heart grow fonder, or at least that’s what my aunt used to tell me when I was a young vamp missing my parents and I must admit that it did.
“How’s Speck the Peck?” he questions changing the subject. He does that whenever he feels defeated, meaning the infamous hunter Berretta Banks escaped him once again.
Now, would you look at that? I got to give it to the girl. She’s smart as hell. Plus, from what I have seen she’s also one tough cookie, even though she’s one manipulative little bitch.
“She’s fine, still calling me Cyrus the virus every chance she gets, fucking little speck,” I decide not to call him out on his failure. “Actually, she’s doing more than fine, she’s loving the fact that she gained a doll baby to dress whenever she pleases,”
Yeah, I’m well aware that Speck loves to play dress-up with my overly sweet beloved and Embry is way too modest to say no thank you, even though she hates it.
“Sounds like Speck,” says Lucius while leaning back. “Unfortunately, I didn’t really have that much time to catch up with her as I visited your Kingdom, but I did have the pleasure of speaking with her briefly. She’s still crazy as ever from what I could tell and full of joy. She’s so laid back and chilled, crazy but still very chilled. There’s just something about a crazy but laidback lady, you know,”
Yeah, I do actually. Embry’s more animalistic side makes my dick twitch every time she opens her mouth.
“Xander really fucked up when he let her go,” Lucius adds in.
Oh, yes! How could I ever forget about Xander, Lucius, Nicklaus, and Speck’s love triangle?
Hmmm, I’ll make this simple.
Speck was the good girl in the story,
Nicklaus was the bad guy.
Xander was the worst guy.
Surprisingly, Lucius was actually the pretty decent guy but of course, Speck was totally into the bad guy, no worst… The worst guy ever and I don’t have to go into further detail for anyone to understand how that story played out.
End of story! It’s really such a shame, Lucius and Speck would have been good together, but you know what they say. The heart want’s what the heart wants.
No one can deny their heart’s true desire. No one!
“Yeah, he did,” I agree with Lucius after a while because he’s right.
Speck might be annoying, but she’s one of those once in a lifetime girl’s.
You know, one of those girls that you’ll remember forever. The type of girl that once you have her, you never ever let go even though she’ll most certainly drive you crazy, but in the end, she’s worth it!
Speck’s worth it all. You just can’t help but love her. She’s just one of those girls that deserve the world. I’ll never admit it to her, but she is. I honestly really don’t know what I’ll do without her.
She’s really the best got damn adopted sister that I could ask for and even that’s an understatement because blood couldn’t make us any closer.
“Yup, Xander is a dickhead,” Lucius chimes in while shaking his head. “But so am I,” he says, quickly mumbling underneath his breath. “I should have fought harder for her,” he surprises me by saying.
“Yeah, you should have?” I say to him before standing up to walk towards the bar suddenly needing a drink. I don’t know why I’m so surprised but I am. I mean sure Speck is amazing, but Lucius and her dated ages ago, literally.
There’s no way that he could still be stuck on her, could he?
“I mean I’m not still into her,” he says while making his way over towards the bar area as well. “At least, I didn’t think I was into I saw her recently and now I’m not so sure,”
“But why now,” I question him as I pour me a glass of good-ole jack on the rocks. I mean I wasn’t kidding when I said that Speck was one of those girls that you don’t allow to get away, but Lucius has been around her on numerous occasions. Surely, he realized that whatever chances he had with her are long gone by now.
“I mean Speck is great,” I decide to say as the both of us decide to take a seat on to the sleek black barstool. “She’s most certainly queen material and most definitely has the inherited queen behavior to match. On top of that, Speck is time of enough to defend your kingdom from any threat that you might face, but you already knew that,” I state as I knock my first drink back.
Fuck, that’s good.
“So due tell the sudden change of heart,” I ask a moment later.
Lucius releases a small snicker as he knocks his glass of good-ole Jack back as well.
His eyes are moving from me to the front of the plane where some of our men are getting ready for our landing in one of my favorite places in this entire world. Yes! We’re here in Nick’s Kingdom, good-ole, Cyprus!
Damn, it feels so good to be home. Although, I’ll never admit that to anyone. At least, not out loud. Nope! Not going to happen, never.
“Yeah, I know it sounds crazy,” Lucius brings me back to our current conversation. “It’s been ages, centuries even since Speck and I dated but seeing her at your mating ceremony so happy and carefree, living her best life like it’s golden did something to me,”
“But that’s been Speck,” I cut in. “She’s always been like that,”
“Yeah, she has but she never lived her life like that. At least, not when she was with me, she hasn’t,” he says, looking like he’s lost in his own thought’s, reliving long forgotten memories.
Hmm, now I must admit that I didn’t see that coming.
Would you look at that? I’m stunned and completely lost for words. I honestly don’t know what to say to that. So, I remain quiet for a while, leaving him to his own thought’s.
“So,” he draws me back in after a while. “Speaking of love, how’s the mated life?” He decides to ask’s as he helps himself to another drink and I can’t help the smile that tugs on the corner of my lips as thoughts of Embry plagues my brain, beautifully haunting my mind. Even though he really doesn’t give a rat ass about me and Embry I still smile like a maniac, nonetheless.
“You know what?” He decides to say. “You don’t have to say anything. Your smile says it all,”
“Like you care,” I snort while looking out the window. We’re arriving at the airport.
Maybe, ten minutes or so from landing. “Now, that’s where your wrong, my friend,” he says while crossing his left leg over his right and taking a peak out of the window, staring at the ground. “It’s no secret that I don’t like wolves, especially Wilde wolves,” he dares to say. “But neither of us do, including you. Well, at least you didn’t into the cute little she-wolf magically appeared inside of your life,”
“And your point is,” I say with a major mood shift. A huge one because I’m really not in the mood to explain why I chose to be with my beloved, even though she is as he called her, a cute little she-wolf because I don’t have to explain shit. Matter of fact, I won’t explain shit to him or any of them not now, not ever.
“My point is that you can’t blame me, or any of us for that matter when it comes to not welcoming your cute, little she-wolf with open arms,” he says while turning to face me.
“I could careless about how any of you feel,” I spit out through clenched teeth. “Embry is my beloved and will forever and always be the closes soul to unfreeze my frozen heart, whoever doesn’t like it, or attempts to take her way from me shall choke on their own spit and die,”
“Oh, stop the dramatics would you, Cyrus,” intervenes Lucius with a smile. “Your starting to sound like Nicklaus,”
Oh, right! Good-ole Nick. “Speaking of Nicklaus, I’m sure that you of all people aren’t too fond of his choice of beloved as well,”
“You know I’m not,” he says with a smirk. Yup, I know. Racist little fuck!
“Whelp! I love to see you tell that to his face, or hers because I’ll ensure you brother that it will not end well,”
“Oh, I have every intention to tell him and her,” his smirk deepens. He’s right. I have no doubt in my mind that he will and as I stated good luck because he’s damn sure going to need it.
“Besides,” he says a second later while standing to his feet. “You know my motto, respect is earned, not given. I will not just give away my loyalty to some human just because Nicklaus demand’s me to,”
Yup! We shall see.
“Whelp, as I stated once brother, I’ll love to see you tell that to his face and hers,” I say to him once again with a smile. “In more pacifically hers,”
Because Claire is the real one to fear I think to myself, but I wouldn’t dare say that to him.
In fact, I can’t wait to see him figure that out for himself.
Ha! Ha! Ha! It’s going to be epic, I’m sure. I can’t wait.
“Sire, we have arrived,” advises an extremely annoying voice.
“Jasmine,” greets Lucius. Yup, she’s here unfortunately. I was forced to bring her for image purposes and for other obvious reasons, of course.
“Oh, yes! Jasmine please do come in,” I say while flashing my fangs. “We’re hungry,”
Once we reach Nicklaus Kingdom, I go straight into Ruthless King mood filled with nothing but bullshit ass obligations. I swear my sour mood shifts from sour apple to rotten apple the very moment that I step into the kingdom, and I knew from that moment forward that this trip would be much worse than I’ve already expected.
The only thing that seems to keep me sane is my thoughts of Embry. I constantly find myself wondering if she misses me as much as I miss her. She’s also the only thing that seems to make this horrible business venture fly by. I just can’t wait into I get back to her.
The thought of her becomes some sort of obsession. Embry is my obsession.
As soon as I arrive to the Palace it’s straight to dinner I go. The feast of the brother’s that is where thing’s get quite interesting if I do say so myself. First, thing first Nicklaus presents his queen and quite the queen she is. Claire looks like fire, drenched in liquid glowing gold.
Yes, I must admit that the royal seamstress out did herself. She managed to create a darling of a dress that only can be worn by a queen, a true queen.
Claire and her crown have been officially secured. Yes, Claire is putting on quite the show, showing no fear as she always does and so do I. Now, I must admit that it makes me quite envious watching the two of them, royally in love and if that’s not enough you should see the way that all the other vampire kings are looking at her like’s she’s some sort of trophy, which she is if I’m going to be honest but still.
The very sight of it all makes me sick to my stomach but it’s nothing personal. Well, at least it’s not when Claire is involved. I actually like her more then she will ever know. I mean the girl got balls of steel, always have and always well.
That’s one of her characteristic’s, that Claire possess which draws immortals to her. Claire has no fear and God help the man that dares to stand against her.
So, help me God because I’ll be damned if I just sit back and watch my so-called brother live his happy ever after, after he dared to place a price on my innocent beloved head.
It’s burning me alive, just to sit back here and watch this fuckery.
So, I mock.
“You may come, slaves,” directs Nicklaus as the chosen’s come to their owners and us vampire kings take a seat. We all move in unison and in sync. It’s all so formal.
He then takes his queen hand and they too sink in their seats in perfect unison.
My golden eyes locks onto Claire’s electrifying green ones. She truly does look like magic. It’s quite the sight. Such a defiant little thing, so brave, so bold, so beautiful.
To have all three qualities must be really grand. You know what, I bet it must be great to be Claire right now. I mean just think about it, and I mean really think about it.
The first feast of brother’s that she attended. She was nothing but a mere slave, a chosen who wanted nothing more than to die and now look at her.
In fact, that’s it right there isn’t it Her rise to grace being pointed out would be a smack to her face.
To his face!
“Now that we’re all are seated,” Nicklaus announces a second later. “We can feast and discuss the matter at hand,” he attempts to place the focus on anything but Claire.
Trust me, I know him well enough to know the way that he moves like he moves. He picked that up habit from his god awful of a father. They all have. Life is a life-size game of chess to the royal vampire family.
In fact, I believe that knocking over their chest board by causing a series of unexpected event’s is enough to make one of the royal family members, blow off course.
Hmm, let’s test that theory, both theories shall we.
“Cut the crap, Nicklaus,” I spit out through clenched teeth. “How about you enlighten us with why the hell you declared a chosen whore to be our queen?”
Hey, Love bugs. My apologies I thought I published this chapter hours ago, but then again when you sit down and bench watch the originals all distraction tends to happen. My next update shall be Friday, enjoy your week
